approaches the hawaiian archipelago currently the national weather service nws is calling lala a tropical storm with the potental to become a catagory 1 hurricane all other hawaiian islands maui o ahu lana i moloka i and kaua i are under a tropical storm warning tropical storm lala is tracking southeast of hawai i and is bringing dangerous surf heavy rain flooding and damaging winds to the islands this weekend meanwhile as people are preparing for the worst of the tropical storm lala governor joshing greenfees declared a state of emergency mayor kimo alameda has made an emergency proclamation county parks are closed and emergency shelters are open we here on mokupuni hawai i are prepared as best we can extra food water a bugout bag ready in case we have to leave the house batteries generators fuel starlink and extras ready in case we are forced to go camping we re hoping for a mostly rain event the winds could be a bigger problem right now the weather is calm and quiet even the it something deeper more enduring and woven into the fabric of human history are we in a forever war depending on whom you ask the answer varies but some would argue that we have always been in one if that is true then forever wars have existed for decades if not centuries in the broadest historical sense wars have always been forever only the actors have changed consider the many forms war can take defensive military political civil territorial informational hybrid cyber conventional and irregular the list goes on if war is broader than armed conflict alone then perhaps the question is not whether we are in a forever war but whether we have ever been out of one war is an art war is a game war is human nature it is embedded in our literature entertainment and politics because it has shaped nations cultures and human behavior since the dawn of time across anthropology evolutionary biology psychology and history war remains one of humanity s most enduring and fiercely debated subjects war is profit for some war is a business the practice of war profiteering yields immense financial rewards for a select few while imposing the costs on taxpayers and sacrificing human lives the essential characteristic of war is organized and structured violence throughout history wars have been fought over territory resources sovereignty and ideological or political influence at its father in heaven is our earthly life a temporary stage designed to test refine and reveal our character and faith if god is all knowing fully aware of the future and the human heart why would a test be necessary many theologians argue that the test is not for god to gain information but for human beings to recognize and demonstrate their choices through action in christian traditions salvation and relationship with god are viewed as gifts of grace rather than something earned through passing a test or proving loyalty through works alone if earth is a test a metaphorical spiritual proving ground then the presence of severe hardship and moral conflict becomes the environment in which free will choices carry real weight and meaning whether seen as a divine proving ground a spiritual
