ype is ethical but meh i feel eie more i don t really have killer arguments i guess but i just can t see iee for the life of me unless he d be one that s heavily shifted towards something else he does fit the iee musician archetype that i ve found to be a thing who tends to push boundaries and be disinterested in purism for the sake of purism but would rather experiment and create in new ways or combine things that other types would not think of doing but eie does this fairly frequently too and while i do know of iee musicians who can compose beautiful music that really stands out something that s generally helpful for being a composer especially of classical or sacred music or anything actually complex rather than folk tunes or pop songs is a bit of ti and for iee ti is their painful function so unless there s some accent that would justify things to be otherwise they suck at it eie in model a theoretically has ti no better than iee and kind of worse because as their suggestive function it is unconscious while your painful function is conscious so you could simplistically put it by saying that both suck at ti but eie doesn t really know it because their idea of something like ti being a thing is kind of limited to begin with lol in practice though which tends to be described with more nuance by talanov s approach the average iee runs ti at 2 5 and eie at 0 2 hence i m shared the fourth movement fugue from benjamin britten s suite for harp played by lavinia meijer i thought today i could share another movement from this same suite but played by a different artist and also one who has already appeared on my inner mishmash before for example here welsh harpist catrin finch she released this suite as part of her debut album 1999 s harp recital which she recorded at the age of 19 she s done so many different things since then apart from playing the more classical harp material composed her own music arranged bach for the harp played some traditional welsh material and been one half of a very interesting duo with the senegalese kora player seckou keita to name just a few of her undertakings over the years i mentioned in the previous post about this suite that britten composed it for welsh harpist osian ellis and when preparing to write this post i ve actually found out that there s a cool connection between ellis and finch osian ellis was elinor bennett s teacher and elinor bennett taught catrin finch the nocturne is the third and central movement of the suite considered by ellis to be in a way its climax it s also my favourite bit of it being the darkest movement in this otherwise very bright work with a somewhat sinister unsettling feel to it which is what imo makes it stand out as the most interesting harmonically posted on august suite for harp op 83 iii nocturne bibiel hears things sywel nyw machlud sunset hey people i woke up to this song yesterday and i thought i d write a post about it it s definitely one of my favourite songs on sywel nyw s debut album deuddeg twelve maybe even the single favourite one i happen to have amazing memories with it too which certainly contributes to how i feel about it sywel nyw has already been featured on my inner mishmash a couple of times and i really enjoy his music in general but in case you re not familiar with him sywel nyw is the alias of london based welsh musician lewys wyn who is a producer dj composer singer songwriter and multi instrumentalist and whose musical career started in the welsh indie group yr eira as sywel nyw he first wrote more alt pop electropop type stuff like this song you ll hear today but now makes these house disco tracks that make you or at least me feel happy with lots of really cool textures and samples which you ll hear more prominently on his latest album hapusrwydd yw bywyd life is happiness or in this bibiel hears things post which features his song disglair bright from that album his debut lp that today s song comes from deuddeg is named so because it contains twelve songs which were released as singles every month for one year preceding its release in january 2022 and each of these singles was recorded in collaboration with a different welsh artist i ve featured two of these collaborative singles with endaf emlyn and mr mark roberts this one is different though because as the last of the twelve it features only lewys himself as mentioned in the post title machlud means sunset and lewys told y selar magazine that he sees it as symbolic of any period or chapter in life that is closing including the project itself he has also said that he intended for this song to be rather simple pop y and commercial ngl i totally wouldn t mind if all the pop y commercial stuff in the world was like this we d be in a good place culturally he mentioned in that article that one influence on the track was frank ocean and gosh this is real i d never have thought of that because i don t hear frank ocean s music nearly often enough to make the connection spontaneously but yes now that i know that this was the intention i can hear it quite a lot it has this very sensory but simultaneously kind of hazy feel that makes you feel like you re in a dream but at the same time it s an ultra realistic high resolution one haha sort of like false awakening but cooler and not mundane and creepy as false awakenings are in my experience i ve tried to translate this thing because i thought i might manage it but the deeper i waded into it the more ambiguities there were so especially considering that it s not supposed to be a super deep song which you can t enjoy without understanding it i decided to feature it without a translation the socionics section not much to say this time because i ve already typed lewys as an lsi earlier here but thought i could add that in talanov s approach i m pretty sure he would have some sort of accent and not be a standard lsi i ve always been a little sceptical of this typing of mine because lewys is literally the only lsi musician i ve typed so far i don t think your average lsi is particularly artistic i ve noticed his lyrics have a lot of very subtle ni so maybe he d have some beta nf eie or iei accent probably iei then cause eies don t typically create much happy stuff gosh i d never heard of an lsi with an iei accent i d like to see what one looks like whether or not he is that o he definitely sounds rather decisive central as one would expect from lsi ish individuals lsis are not peripheral hobbits haha and i think that while lewys s brother griff lynch likes fi lewys seems like he likes fe which is also consistent with lsi in the classic model a lsis have fe as their suggestive function i e they suck at it but enjoy getting it from others if he d be an lsi with a beta nf accent though that would make his own fe better than the pure lsi s i do have to investigate more someday whether he really is an lsi in the first place or whether it s just a strong first impression i got and stuck with it especially because a large part of my argument for him being an lsi is that he seems in many ways similar to my lsi brother olek from newfoundland and was the lead singer and co founder of the band figgy duff one of the province s most prominent bands in the 70s and 80s the band ceased their activity as such after the death of its founder noel dinn and after that pamela pursued a solo career she grew up in a musical family and is very versatile being a singer multi instrumentalist and producer and has her own record label called amber music the first time i heard her music was actually quite early into my journey with celtic music since a lot of her songs have celtic origins or influences as you d expect from a newfoundland folk musician there was this online polish radio station playing celtic music i don t know maybe it still exists and pamela morgan was one of the artists they played regularly the song is originally a british broadside ballad likely originating in the early 19th century and one of the earliest recordings of it was made in suffolk in the late 1930s though versions of it exist also in norfolk and the midlands it has since been enthusiastically adopted by newfoundland as their own in britain it s better known as the spanish lass the young spanish lass or the indian lass whatever version of it you happen to encounter it always includes a sailor who comes ashore from his ship in a foreign land ends up in an alehouse meets a local woman goes off with her and later sails off despite the poor girl s protests leaving her alone and weeping it s the newfoundland versions that gave the girl a spanish nationality and the name irene which i didn t even know was used in spain in this form but turns out it really is this song is the opening track from pamela s album ancestral songs compiling traditional newfoundland songs that she has learnt from other singers and it s a very nice minimalistic album the first one with traditional material that she recorded after a longer string of contemporary ones the socionics section we ve just researched her with my socionics assistant grisha who types people within the socionics framework of talanov but honestly i m not too sure on her type grisha says eii which would make her like the third eii in a row now he initially considered an lse accent but i don t see that at all and was able to talk him out of it and eventually we reached agreement about a possible esi accent she is a rather sensory eii but then sensory eiis are hardly something to write home about in talanovland contrary to what you might think given that the type is called ethical intuitive introvert lol which means it s difficult to say whether she s just one of those or the esi accent may be real but her te is plausibly somewhat elevated compared to the average eii model a will tell you that both eii and esi have te suggestive a function that s only weakly developed in you but you value it so you want to get better and want more of it from other people but empirically esi s te tends to be higher an esi with an eii accent is also a possibility she definitely sounds like a lot of fi is very rational rather introverted and constructivist i may investigate her further because if she s an esi i wanna know more about how her brain works hahahaa esi harbour bibiel hears things orla gartland backseat driver hey people today i d like to feature a really cool irish artist whose music i ve been familiar with for quite a few years and recently i ve revisited it and thought it would be really nice to share something from her in fact i ve already done it before sharing her song why am i like this but yes you guessed it i ve removed that post since i don t even remember when i still really like that song though this one comes from her 2024 album everybody needs a hero and was co written with another really cool london based singer and songwriter lauren aquilina who also happens to have been orla s roommate i like how this song has both a frantically angsty and oddly euphoric cathartic vibe at the same time it s also really catchy as you ll hear it s about self doubt and a nagging inner critic themes that i m sure a lot of people can relate to and orla generally writes very relatable lyrics as for orla herself she is irish originally from dublin and was steeped in music from early childhood first learning to play traditional music on the violin and fiddle as a very young child and later picking up the guitar at twelve which is when she says she found her real calling her music career started on youtube where she was posting her covers since the age of 14 eventually moving on to her own material orla is also friends with a lot of people from this whole indie folk pop singer songwriter kinda niche like the aforementioned lauren aquilina gabrielle aplin hannah grace etc and with three of her musician friends dodie greta isaac and martin luke brown she formed a band called fizz who released one album it s only today that my jack while researching this song for me enlightened me that greta isaac is the same greta isaac who s welsh and who is the daughter of welsh singer caryl parry jones a very prominent artist on the welsh language music scene i legit thought these were two different people who just happened to share a name o how cool the world is so small as a sidenote i ve got a bit of a sentiment towards one of caryl parry jones s songs and her less popular ones at that a children s song called babis bach mis awst little august babies just because that was the first welsh language song that i could listen to consciously and understand most of the words hahah greta is also sister to among others miriam and moc who are also musicians on the welsh language music scene and greta herself has recorded some songs in welsh including featuring on a song by a popular welsh language indie band swnami haven t featured that particular song on the blog but swnami is a really cool band so here is an example of a song by them that i have shared in the past that i really like greta is also the person who did the creative direction for the visualiser for backseat driver the socionics section orla is actually very interesting socionically more interesting than i thought her case would be when my socionics assistant grisha and i decided to tackle it the way we work on this stuff with grisha is that first he goes off and researches possibly in depth the individual we want to type without trying to type them or anything just creates a dossier on them then later we have phase 2 of the research when i give him what he s found in a separate session and he attempts to type the peep based on the findings
