sacrosanct time for me other residents at franke tobey jones lunch with jett brooks there was a new resident in the duplexes in april who has been attending gazebo group pretty regularly recently with better weather and the relaxing of pandemic restrictions other folks in the gazebo group have been traveling i ve vicariously taken a cruise to egypt enjoyed a bicycle tour of the low countries in europe and cruised to alaska in april and may maybe one day learning and knowledge great decisions january we met and got our assignments for leading the discussions february energy security there wasn t much i didn t know already but it was nice to have a conversation about it march war crimes we basically agreed that russia s actions in ukraine are war crimes and shortly before our meeting putin was invited to explain himself at the hague april china and the u s we are fortunate to have an ex state department employee who lives here he was able to give us first hand insight into our relations with china during the early part of this century may economic warfare this discussion was right in my wheelhouse and i really enjoyed it june political trends in latin america once again we were glad to have some professional insight from our retired state department employee july we took a vacation in july we will resume in august creative writing classes al and i took a course in journaling in may i learned that my 5 things is doing double duty as a blog and a journal in june and july we took a course in finding telling and sharing life stories taught by the same professor as continues daily spirituality bible study we are in the season of ordinary time and we took the month of july off bethany presbyterian church the first presbyterian church of texarkana arkansas my ancestral church i ve been attending on line regularly i m considering making this my church pcusa nominating committee i resigned in july as i am no longer able to travel the distances required to attend meetings money and finances quit obsessing i finished the 2022 taxes and sent the return off in early february i planned very well last year and owed 3 00 that was deducted from our bank account on april 18 i need to look at increasing the amount i send to the irs a little bit apparently my obsession was warranted as the country barely seems to have averted a crisis over the debt limit we retired counting on five us government checks every month al s air force retirement check his va disability payment check his air force civilian retirement check his social security payment and my social security payment the settlement in congress seems to be all right and we did receive our first of the month checks for june july and august i m still worried about what will happen in the fall at budget time keep al informed i try to let al know where we stand al may be eligible for the pact act if so it will increase his va check to up to 100 disability we mailed his paperwork off morning 55 deg when i got up mid 70s by the time we got back from lunch sunshine all the way 2 i did church at the first presbyterian church of texarkana arkansas again this morning good sermon about needing everyone in the church whether they were sinners or not but who isn t i m really impressed with the organist there 3 i probably know 50 75 of the people in the congregation in texarkana still and i feel so at home there 4 al and i went to kyoto for lunch today we both had yakisoba beef for me because i need to quit being anemic and chicken for al which i would have preferred we both weather when i got up upper 50s with the marine layer and clouds the sun came out around noon and by the time we got home from the podiatrist it had warmed up to the mid 70s and was headed to 80 deg by nightfall 2 the wellness center had a catered hawaiian themed luncheon for all the folks who participate there we had pineapple coleslaw fried rice pineapple and mango fruit salad barbecued chicken pulled pork hawaiian dinner rolls and macadamia nut cookies yummy 3 i sat with a friend whose mother is in health care i don t get a chance to see her often and we had a great time catching up with each other 4 al and i went to get our toenails clipped and calluses removed by the podiatrist it was time and my feet feel so much better now 5 ice cream on the front porch of lillian pratt this beautiful summer day today it was in the mid 50s when i woke up blue skies all day with the temperature headed to the mid 70s before nightfall 2 i went to my follow up medical appointment after breakfast it was with a nurse practitioner who answered all my questions about my uti and the fact that they reported i was anemic she was very helpful and reassured me include doing another urinalysis that was negative showing the antibiotics were doing what they were supposed to she told me to take all the pills even though i felt better and that was the end i would usually rather meet with a nurse practitioner they have more time and a better bedside manner than the mds 3 i stopped by the wellness center and got my exercise for the day 4 i got a blt from the bistro for lunch it was on special this week i haven t had any bacon since last christmas it was so good 5 the second world cup game for the us is this evening planning on being in front of the tv at 6 00 pm pdt how about morning when i got up temperature hovering right around 60 deg but by the time i finished my tea it was cloudy we ve had a few little dribbles of rain through the afternoon and some real rain is promised overnight fingers crossed 2 the wellness center is doing assessments this week i had mine this morning and i haven t lost any ground in fact i ve improved a little in a couple of areas particularly in balance 3 the laundry is all washed dried delivered folded and hung up whew 4 we had pork chops cinnamon applesauce and leftover potato salad with the last tomato planning on a trip to morning upper 50s when i woke up it s been beautiful all day long and the temperature is supposed to get to 82 before nightfall but on the way home from lunch we saw the on shore flow beginning to pile up behind the olympic mountains i fear much cooler weather will be here tomorrow 2 i went to church on line at the first presbyterian church of texarkana arkansas this morning i didn t see my sister in the choir but she may have been hiding behind the organ 3 we decided to have thai food for dinner today i had singapore noodles with chicken and big al had something i never heard of before with noodles and chicken over spinach with peanut sauce he said it was way too much sauce for the spinach and noodles 4 after i left you lovely people yesterday my sisters ganged up on me and nagged me into going to the er to check whether the blahs that i was feeling had to do with my heart so al and i spent several hours while they did every test known to man including bloodwork x rays an ekg and finally last a urinalysis i now know my lung are clear my heart is beating i don t have covid rsv flu or several other things i d never heard of i do have a uti that s being treated with antibiotics i m feeling 100 better today and yes i ll be sure to continue the antibiotic until it s all gone even if i feel better 5 my book is calling me to sit down with my feet up and read and
