oo she did fantastic sitting through the whole thing it is quite long about 2 5 hrs and she didn t make a peep well except one moment i did have to giggle because when timon came on stage she blurted out mommy i told you there was a dog quinn got a baby simba as we left and a poomba for tripp my heart was so full and happy as we talked about the play on the way home we did hit a horrible storm that was quite scary to drive through in our last 15 minutes on the road but we made it there was a surprise waiting for quinn when she walked through the door grampy he was in ohio to help my grandma violet with a few things of course we were eager for him to stop by she was all smiles when she saw him and jumped into telling him all about the musical also tripp did well with us being gone all day too i think i officially have the broadway bug the whole experience would also would make a fantastic date so i told dj we need to do that sometime i know he d love it too we did go to wicked in 2016 in nyc which was amazing we ordered in piada and then once the rain settled down we all loaded in the car and went to rosati s the flavor of the day was birthday cake yum a jam session with grampy we just played around the house the rest of the evening july 19th we went to church and then stopped by nervous dog after dj and i were laughing at these bumper stickers so of course i have to share with you sunday evening we had a weird event to round out the weirdness of air quality parasitic food and such we walked into our basement and detected a sulfur smell even quinn said she smelled bad eggs we ran all our water lines and called the fire department thats our third time in like a year and a half the crockpot issue the sump pump battery and now this by the time they arrived the smell was gone probably in the pipes they did their due diligence no gas was detected thankfully we went back to enjoying our evening when we heard the door bell ring it was the fire fighter again we were confused and assumed maybe we just forgot to sign something he actually informed us as they were leaving they were dispatched to our neighbors for the same thing so now we suspect someone has a sump pump issue hopefully this doesn t become a whole thing all good for now though oh and tripp was thrilled to see the fire truck he pointed over and over going weeeooooo weeeeoooo the fire truck song by danny go is probably their favorite right now so the kids definitely got a kick out of one pulling up to our house i ll wrap it here hope y all are doing well and staying safe out there ️ mackenzie definitely room for improvement it was fun nonetheless we also made cupcakes donuts out of cut up pool noodles shaving cream and sprinkles the real sensory activity dumping out playing with moose s dog food lol that evening i made some air fried shrimp with corn roasted sweet potato and avocado quinn set up trick or treating around the house for dj for when he got off work haha yes trick or treating in june why not i was finding candy packets stuck in crevices of the couch weeks later tripp always soaking up the moose cuddles some quinnie art audrey is one of her good friends from preschool most days of the week the neighbor s kids and quinn will sprint to the fence when they see each other outside quinn either goes over there or they come to our yard to play it s been the best now that they are all ages that they enjoy playing together this dress quinn is wearing is her magic dress it was from the neighbors for her birthday and she wore it pretty much all of june whenever it was clean i set up a washing construction vehicles station for tripp that he enjoyed this dude is alll about vehicles dinosaurs and basketball we also went to story time it made us all happy to be back with maggie at the maggie library tripp was especially into it he was dancing and jumping around with another girl who there that actually looked a lot like quinn we suspected maybe he thought she was quinn hah another week another loaf of einkorn sourdough june 5th we headed to the park june 6th we met up with lorena at chick fil a the kids had a blast playing in the play area and it was good to catch up with her she s having baby boy in september which is so exciting that afternoon i did a scissor math activity with quinn this was an idea from inspired minds she loved it very easy set up too june 7th off to church this was taken approximately one minute before i spilled my coffee on myself lol thankfully it came out easily we were low on groceries so we decided to order in from butcher sprout i got the kids the grilled pb j and it was the best peanut butter and jelly sandwich ever one half is missing from the photo since it didn t stay in the box very long i also made some sandwich bread i have yet to find a sandwich bread recipe that i absolutely love so please share if you have one you like june 8th one of the neighbor girls came by to play with quinn they made more cupcakes and opened up an ice cream cupcake shop tripp helping at the ice cream shop peak summer kids bop bubbles a messy craft and vibes that evening i made some bean tacos i served the kids theirs deconstructed i also made some almond flour chickpea brownies i found online i didn t particularly care for them but dj and quinn really liked them i ve been on a homemade chicken tender kick recently too i just cut the chicken into 1 2 squares dip in egg and then breadcrumbs and bake super easy soccer time it s been a blast being back in soccer we ve come a long way from last year when it was a fight to keep tripp happy for the 30 minutes he s pretty content watching and walking around now also quinn made a good friend too name walker they play at the playground together after every practice a rare sighting of the laundry room ahem i mean tripp s room clean something else we ve been doing all summer is going to the edge of our development and watching the cars drive by tripp absolutely loves it he ll point and gasp and say wow if a larger truck passes if he thinks something is a fire truck either red or just a pickup truck haha he ll say weee oooooo it s so stinking adorable if quinn is with us we play a guessing game of what the next color car is going to be it really was such a beautiful june we spent lots of time outside and on walks that week was vbs at our church it was quinn s first year going and she had the best time she came home with a lot of cute crafts and even memorized a bible verse the performance they gave the following sunday was the cutest thing in the whole world why are vbs songs always so catchy quinn found an easter egg kit in the basement that friday and asked if we could do it again why not just knocking out all the holidays before christmas in july hah june 12th was a an impromptu but amazing night quinn went to the neighbors for a movie night under the stars they set up the projector roasted marshmallows for s mores and watched dog man loading categories uncategorized a baseball game family time nespresso woes published on july 2 2026 july 6 2026 by mackenzie 8 comments hi everyone y all staying cool on these hot hot days i want to do at least one more april post then i ll do one from our current day april 15th we went over to the stow mini city for quinn to ride her bike we always enjoy playing hide and seek among the little buildings there s a big playground right next to this area too so we re always able to play there after there are planes that fly over it from kent aviation school i believe and tripp just loves it after each plane passes he ll point to the sky and sign more our meals have been so easy lately that night we had some variation of a taco i decided elaborate meals are just something that have to give in this season of life also the more time intensive and fancy the less likely the kids will eat it so we stick to the tried and true with a new recipe mixed in maybe once or twice a week we focus on a protein veggie and carb and call it a day quinn adorably labeled our names at our seats for dinner that week and even made one for moose above his dog bowl so sweet april 16th i put down the bottom of the sandbox almost all ready i wanted to wait until most of the rainy season passed before filling it though i also got my hair refreshed that day tripp is getting so much better about me being gone for extended periods the year mark was such a turning point for the separation anxiety and he s just getting better with it all the time that evening we ordered in honeygrow one of our new favorite spots after eating our food we headed to downtown cleveland for a guardians vs orioles game dj is a huge orioles fan so we definitely wanted to see them while they were in town tripp was all about it he was dancing jumping kissing me out of pure glee lol but then quinn two minutes in said it was boring it was quite the hilarious juxtaposition we stayed for an inning then headed down to the kids area they did not have this when we were young but it is awesome they have a little fenced in area with various baseball themed play structures to climb like this bat and baseball a large enclosed slide and another area where they have play cars kids can zoom around and slide down ramps on we had to laugh because tripp beelined for the pink car since that s what he uses at home they had a blast i d love to visit again one more time this season i do feel like a traitor walking around in a family of os gear i m not personally wearing any dj is a die hard fan so i will support him brainwashing our kids to love the o s i do secretly want the guardians to win though also super random but a bird became a bit infatuated with dj s truck reminded me a bit of are you my mother a robin was out there alll day for a couple days in a row pecking against the glass and trying to bring twigs to build a nest on the truck bed cover never seen anything like it before a bit of a bummer for dj s truck which was covered in bird droppings but kinda fascinating too april 17th my aunt terry uncle pat arrived woohoo i absolutely love our time with them and was counting down to the minute they pulled in i put together a little board to munch on when they arrived around 2 30 they immediately jumped into playing with the kids quinn and aunt terry got to work on some legos they brought for quinn where s tripp moose loved having his cousins here i didn t get a picture of it but you all have probably seen it plenty in past posts for dinner we had the venison sloppy joe mac and cheese my uncle pat really liked venison so it was a no brainer what meal i wanted lined up while they were here after dinner we played outside for a while it was a gorgeous evening april 18th we had a nice easy start to the morning i love making big breakfasts when we have people staying with us so we loaded up the classics some annie s cinnamon rolls i d love to try to make some sourdough ones from scratch soon chicken sausage quiche berries yogurt and pancake puffs and at some point during the morning this guy got covered in stickers we may have to give him some extra steak for his birthday this year he s a trooper my aunt quinn and i ran some errands that afternoon we grabbed some nervous dog coffees and then headed to walmart it was a rainy day so we didn t feel so bad about being indoors once the rain stopped we went for a walk and halfway through quinn said she had to use the restroom it was quite a sight me sprinting through the neighborhood in sandals and a big wagon trying to make it home before an accident lol we did make it phew that evening we had one of our favorite pork dishes it s a p ork shoulder s uper easy and tastes like restaurant quality it was not ideal timing but our nespresso machine went caput that weekend i use my simply good coffee machine in the morning and have nespresso in the afternoon but dj drinks nespresso first thing we ultimately decided to get the new vertuoplus one and have been loving it way more than the older brand pictured above the new one has an up and down lever rather than a push pull and it works wonderfully and has been on my mind heart lately it s pretty evident we have returned as a culture to harmfully overvaluing thinness five minutes on the internet and you re likely getting some form of the message that thinner is better ads for weight loss drugs abound hollywood stars are simply emaciated i worry so much about young girls growing up in this the way much of my millennial generation did and i actually think they have it worse because of parasocial dynamics at play with influencers that i certainly have heard pushing this thin at any cost message i don t feel like i have authority to speak on much but i do feel like i have some perspective on this topic it s not something i ve discussed much on here but i have struggled and recovered from an eating disorder exercise addiction at that time i achieved what some may have said was the ideal body but what was the actual cost i was constantly consumed with what i ate and when and my workout routine i would wake up on holiday mornings
