princess no comments saturday december 24 2011 sweet sixteen sixteen is a number that brings to mind many things for many people drivers license first dates when you are young you can hardly wait to finally be older first it s 13 finally a teenager then it s 16 woohoo car time baby then 18 an adult at last ha finally 21 party time i think after 21 most people don t look forward to birthdays quite the same way when you are the parent of the child turning any of these ages you don t look forward to it with quite the same enthusiasm 13 hormones ugh 16 trust them with a car ack 18 my baby s growing up 21 quite frankly i m not even thinking of that age yet lol yesterday was drama queen s birthday look i made that hat and she s actually wearing it wow sweet sixteen is here already it s funny how some things are ingrained into your memory i know i say this over and over but she was my first it s hard to believe that my baby is 16 gawd i m getting old sixteen seems to be the age where your parents know pretty much nothing where you can love them one minute and gossip like bff s only for a switch to flip and be completely embarrassed to be seen with them the next i cherish the good times and try to hold back the urge to grab a soap bar to wash mouths with during the not so good what else can ya do we do 1present per year it s something that i started several years ago and i really enjoy it but do you know how hard it is to try to figure out 16 presents for a 16yr old girl so she won t roll her eyes i do believe i was actually successful this year although i think her today marks the day that i gave birth to the last child i d ever carry most likely the child that i would grow and love and give birth to and then hand over to her parents yes today is my surrogate daughter s birthday seven years old miss dilly is 7 it s hard to believe so much time has passed surrogacy was a wonderful experience for me i almost wish i could do it again life is so much busier now that i m not sure i have the time to devote now and soon i ll be too old sigh miss dilly s mom i chatted last nite and recounted where we all were 7yrs ago you see i was induced with her in the morning of june 11 dilly had other plans apparently she held out and held out and held out until finally she was born a little after midnight thus moving her birthday to june 12 i m pretty sure she knew what she was doing she just wanted to share her birthday with one of the most important men in my life today is also his birthday for the record yes those are dimple s phineas ferb sunglasses lol daddy chaos and i have been together for half of my life yes you read that correctly half of my life how do you top that later this month we ll be at the 1 2way point and every day after that will be one more day that i have spent with him very soon i ll have spent more of my life with him than without it boggles the mind in this day and age where everyone is divorced or not getting married until very last of the last babyhood ends completely with you and i will no longer be the mom to a baby or toddler today you turn 3 3 how did you ever get to be so big three talks of riding tricycles and blowing bubbles it leaves toddlerhood behind and embraces the years of being a preschooler i m not sure i m ready for 35months i rocked you patted you just so and hummed along with you to get you to sleep at night just like when you were born a month early you decided a month ago that you were a big boy and all the sudden started going to sleep on your own in your own bed shoved right next to momma s so you can reach thru the crib and feel my hand 35months of sleeping on me or shoved up next to me i moaned more often than not about the crappy sleep i was getting having you in my bed and now with the blink of an eye it s gone where was my transition kid at this point in your life you re a bit behind i ve pretty much convinced myself that it s partly because i ve chanted in your ear since you came home don t grow up too fast you re the last of my babies stay little sometimes we wonder if you are really as behind as you appear or if it s just all a ruse you pop out suddenly with this new talent that surprises us all and comforts us that you are learning you are always on the run i fear i m really sucking at documenting this time in your life because you are in constant motion and i can rarely get a picture of your face i settle for taking lots of pictures of you sleeping seriously have you seen anything more adorable although it s your birthday today i have yet to buy you a present you hate to open them anyway and quite honestly i have no idea what to get you i m pretty sure i ll be scouring the stores for the last few zhu zhu pets that we have yet to own because you january 18 2011 spoiled princess turns 6 it s that time of year again the time where i sit and marvel at the birthday of our first adopted kiddo there s some magical about it all not that all my kids aren t magical in their own way but i spent 10months pregnant and awaiting the birth of drama queen attitude king with spoiled princess i found out about her when she was already a day old i waited exactly 26hrs kinda like drama queen s labor hmmm from the moment i knew about her to the moment she came home with us she signifies the beginning of a new path in our lives the foster adoption path so it s been 6 years now i know i say it all the time but i honestly can t figure out how the time goes by so quickly one minute they are itty bitty and the next they are in school don t even get me started on how much faster time seems to go once they get into school ugh as i mentioned in a previous post we made cupcakes for her bday at school note to self do not let the 6yr old crack eggs no matter how much she tells you that she is an expert at it you ll end up with egg down the cabinets on the floor yum she s just lucky i happened to have an over abundance of eggs that nite fishing pole spoiled princess made the cupcakes all by themselves they were a pretty good team spoiled princess then had fun telling everyone at school that she made them lol unlike southern darlin spoiled princess wanted to stay at home eat basketti and have ice cream cake for her bday all dressed up in her new gear it was a quiet birthday but a good one she s changed so much in just a year she went from a preschooler who would tolerate ½days but couldn t imagine being away from momma for a full day and therefore was not going to kindergarten into a little girl who absolutely loves kindergarten she loves her friends recess learning everyday she comes home to tell me exactly what they did that day every little detail her sentence always beings with mommy you will be so proud of me yep i m always proud of her she s growing up so fast let s look thru the last couple of years to see how she s grown 4 years old 5 years old 6 years old i could have went back further but that would just make comments friday december 31 2010 happy 7th 2nd birthdays are a funny thing in the adoption world at least to me they are with my biological kids birthdays mean me reliving in my head the pregnancy birth all the little details that get lost in the day to day how we waited and waited then finally went to the hospital only to find out we were just 3cm dilated i can easily tell you exactly what time each of my birth children were born what the day was like ect it s firmly etched into my brain yet 2 3 of my children i did not give birth to i don t have any of that information on them with the exception of thetoddler i didn t even know of their existence until well after their birth so it just seems odd to me to have a birthday and not be able to know all those little details or realize that 7yrs ago my daughter was born yet i wouldn t come to know her for another 5 ½yrs it s just strange maybe it s just me i ve been known to be weird at times anyways as i m sure you ve guessed this is yet another birthday post somehow the fates were laughing at me when i was blessed with my children 2 late dec birthdays 1 mid january 2 march birthdays within the week of each other finally one may bday it s like a birthday palooza thankfully i get february off to rest for a moment but it is a short month after all southern darlin celebrated her 7th birthday earlier this week yay this year she is finally mine i know we ve talked about it before how sometimes you gotta fake it til you make it real last year at this time of year we were still firmly in the faking it she d only been here 6months and we were in the throes of rages galore now we are safe and secure life is calm on that front she has firmly entrenched herself into the family as i tucked her in the night before her bday we giggled and played for a minute it was fun and sweet and then all of the sudden quickly heartbreaking momma ya know when you wake up in the morning you re going to be seven can you believe it you are getting so old southern darlin but i ve only been here for 2birthdays now m that s right hmmm maybe you re just going to be two not seven since you ve only been here for two birthdays i m going to have to rethink all your presents now sd nooooooo giggles mommy giggles i m still going to be seven m i m not so sure you were right you ve only been here for 2 birthdays now i think that makes you thursday december 23 2010 fifteen i know i say this every single year it s hard for me to wrap it around my brain that a whole nother year has passed i still clearly remember being pregnant with you and trying every wives tale in the book to get your stubborn little butt to come out 10days late you had to show me even then who was boss you were my first the one i got to make all my mistakes on sorry when you were born daddy i were still young ourselves i know i know hard to imagine right we grew up together quite a bit i want to grab you and squish you back down into that little girl that still idolized me and missed her daddy so much when he was away the little girl that would look up into the skies and wave madly yelling hi daddy i miss you come home to any airplane that passed overhead because she knew that her daddy was in the airforce instead we re at the ying yang stage some days we are so close squeeeze other days your hormones take over and i want to duct tape your mouth shut and lock you in your room until you re old enough to not mouth off again i know that at this stage in your life we parents know nothing we make up stupid rules just to piss you off and no you cannot say piss because i said so i don t care if i just said it i m the mom and i can say whatever i want shut it but we really make them because we love you and are trying to protect you just wait til you have kids there are soo many things i could tell you right now things i wish i could go back and tell myself at this age instead i ll let someone you might actually listen to tell you for me that is my song for you this year it plays on my phone whenever you call me to remind me that you are now fifteen so close to being grown and and no longer little listen to it remember it remember like today when i really don t appreciate being a girl i have sit down to pee shave my legs like all the time and periods let s really not even get into that mess sure there are perks i can create and
