2019 by mariana i have always loved participating in card challenges and i think they are a great way to keep those creative juices flowing well today i am sharing a card that i made to participate in the current case this sketch challenge one of the things i like about this challenge is the simplicity of their sketches you can either build your card with layers and details or create a clean and simple card it is up to you so i thought this sketch was just right to showcase a pretty patterned paper that belongs to the playful prints collection by fun stampers journey i used both sides of the paper to create the diagonal sections of the card and i adhered them onto a fresh sage folded card then i enhanced one of the diagonal lines with a strip of cool parade journey tape and a simple sentiment stamped with black licorice ink over a cool pool cardstock strip i also die cut a romantic bloom from bubblegum and haystack cardstocks and embellished with a single sweet candy drop here is combined with one of the fun challenges that fun stampers journey have put together specially for us the purpose of today s challenges is to create cards for the b e brave card drive the goal of this drive is to collect cards that will be sent to patients and caregivers in need through a breast cancer non profit organization the rules to participate are simple and you can find more information about this drive by clicking here i created a card for challenge 2 create a card for a caregiver i made a thank you card using a pretty stamp set called be brave i used the ribbon to create a simple background and the little dove as an accent image the thank you sentiment is from another versatile set called must have sentiments i also used a pierced rectangle journey tape sequins and heart shaped paper clip as embellishments so i hope you feel inspired to create some cards participate in one or more of the challenges send your cards to the journey station and be part of a good cause hallows eve card posted on october 2 2017 by mariana hello friends i am back today to share a card that i created using some fun stampers journey products i want to point out that this time i used a simple and fun splitcoaststamper sketch scs664 to create my card the stamp set that i used is called hallows eve and it is included in the journey holiday mini i want to mention that this set is a host exclusive product to learn more about how to host a make it party please click here this set in particular is a large set with thirty one stamps all the images included are very cute and they are perfect to use for halloween themed projects i also used a background stamp called widow s web and i simply stamped it with tangerine fusion ink over citrus cooler cardstock the little figures were stamped with black licorice ink onto whip cream cardstock i added some details with journey color splash watercolor pencils and then cut trimmed the tiny images with scissors to create an ombré effect for the the little spooky house image i inked the stamp with three different tones of purple pretty amethyst lavender fusion and grape fusion then i stamped the sentiment over a pierced oval matted with a larger vellum oval i layered all the elements of the card and i added a few other things to complement the cute scene journey tape sequins and sparkle silk by the way a new fun promotion has time of the year because is just perfect to start working on your holiday cards today is the kick off of the holiday cardmaking challenge at the hero arts blog i love that they do this because it is a fun way to motivate you to start creating i created a card for today using some of the products included in the 2016 winter catalog i used a stamp set called winter scene die combo to create the jar scene i started by die cutting the jar from pool mixed layering paper i stamped the pine tree with moss hybrid ink and then i white embossed the snow on the ground i also sparkle embossed the falling snow i stamped and die cut the house and deer red royal and soft brown shadow inks i adhered the little deer with a glue dot and the house with foam tape i added sequins and beads details i stamped the jar image over acetate with stazon ink and i die cut the piece with its matching die i stamped the lid part over blush mix layering paper and i fussy cut it i adhere the lid over the acetate piece after that i adhere the acetate jar over the jar scene with foam tape behind the lid this creates dimension and it kind of simulates a real jar according to me the rest of the card were a few layers of stamped backgrounds over a snow layering paper card base pool mix layering paper hand drawn snowflakes bold prints soft olive shadow ink blush mix layering paper berry background pale tomato mid tone shadow ink snow layering paper candy stripe bold prints tide pool mid tone shadow ink snow layering paper holiday greetings stamp set intense black ink and the final touches gemstones pearls arts today this fun challenge starts and i am glad to be sharing a card that i made using the new paper layering die called large lotus this is a pop up die that gives the paper a 3 d effect for this card i began by creating negative and positive masks with the die i die cut the shape on paper and then using scissors i carefully detached the flower positive mask to obtain a flower shaped window negative mask i used the negative mask to outline the lotus shape with a pencil over a watercolor paper panel i thought it would be a good idea to complement the flower with some leaves but because i didn t have a lotus leaf stamp i created my own i die cut a circle from foam and then i cut out a slice of it with scissors i placed the foam leaf onto an acrylic block with adhesive and i used it as a stamp then i placed the positive mask over the outlined flower and i stamped the leaf using green watercolor as the ink i complemented with two more leaves after that i used the flower outline as a guide to paint the flower with pink watercolor and the rest of the panel with blue next i die cut the lotus on the panel i stamped a sentiment with black ink and i curled and folded the lotus petals to reveal its shape i adhered the panel over a card base and i embellished it with some gemstones don t forget that this contest will be open until the end of the month and of course there are some challenge that has holiday cards as a theme this is great because you would be able to share your cards and get lots of inspiration from other talented designers just like you of course there is a prize and you can find more details on the hero arts blog so i created a holiday card using hero arts products from the 2015 holiday collection first i created the background using the star snowflake stencil soft purple shadow ink and a sponge over a lilac layering paper base card then i stitched a vellum strip with gold embroidery thread i chose joy stamp cut to create the focal point using the die to cut the word joy with white card stock then i put versamark directly over the word and after that i heat embossed it with brass embossing powder i also cut the word from foam to create dimension i stamped the complementary words above and below the vellum strip making sure to leave enough space for the word joy at the end i embellished the card with some purple gemstones well that s challenge by hero arts the directions are easy of course there are prizes for the winners to create my card i combined heat embossing big flowers die cutting main sentiment favorite color mint i used one of the new color layering sets by hero arts called happy day flowers first the big flowers were stamped with soft cantaloupe shadow ink and then i stamped over them again with versamark and heat wboss with clear embossing powder i know is hard to see but i promise it is there the sentiment that i used is included in congrats stamp cut set i love this set you can combine the congrats word with other different words like graduation marriage etc very versatile set i also used a great cling background stamp called forest floor bold prints these are the ink colors that i used soft cantaloupe big and tiny flowers mint julep leaves and background green hills leaves details lemon yellow flower centers and tiny flowers cup o joe sentiment and soft brown secondary text here is the color combo want to point out that all the products from this catalog are already available in the hero arts online store i used the mint to emerald ombre ink pad to stamp the sentiment i love the effect that you background stamp that belongs to the new lia griffin collection by hero arts i love that all those dots are different in size and that makes this background more fun all the products from this
