Text of the page (random words):
blog we will share our day to day routine and experience as we go along teaching and learning friday 16 january 2015 what about homeschool it s not an easy task to go back online for some reason sometimes i think i was in a mess in some way there are so many things need to be done and at the same time i can be so lazy flexible and hibernate possibly weather possibly age one thing i know as kids grow they do more things around oh my i can just sit and give command how bless to have kids growing up i use to worries so much thinking how kids going to turn up i am still worry like any other mother most of the time now i do not have to worry much except my dear dyslexic son ms although the other still behind on their homeschool if i compare to what they got to learn it wasn t as bad as my worry for ms at some point i still teach my self not to worry much about him and keep on working on whatever i can since i left this blog and away from it i don t know if there is someone coming back to this blog now after it gone private at some point my kids have grow up my dear daughter now in college to cut short the story she was a it frustrated because she think she is behind and not able to to a level last year when she suppose to do it bla bla bla she is kind of person who want to formally follow the standard she only have 3 igcse therefore she not able to do a level in college as requirement is for 5 gcse she was a bit frustrated at first but i keep saying to her that the journey we made worth thousand times than the a level when we first go for college registration where she was emailing college back and forth since when we were in malaysia college a bit reluctant to take her in as she want to do art and design but have got any qualification in art well the story is like this after many discussion and as she cannot decide properly yet about way to go she decided to pursue her degree in psychology in able to to that she will need a level with 5 gcse igcse my suggestion is for her to forget about a level as in uk there are so many way to enter uni and get degree ps is someone who like to be in formal school setting she like to be in the environment and having someone she can call teacher but after months in college she was quiet frustrated with the college setting and so called education environment that need a different post my suggestion is for her to do one year access to higher education and that will enable her to apply for uni but she can take it if she is 19 years old and she only 18 as per last year therefore she decided to go for what she love to learn at the same time while waiting to go for higher education course which is art and design as she haven t got any qualification in art and design but as she got passion for it she have many art work she done on her own time we went back to college next day with whole bunch of her art profile and after looking at all her work the lecturer very happy to take her in it was her first day into the outside world on her own at the time on her first day in college i am not at home and she have to take bus for her first time from home to college which about 7 miles that required 2 buses actually alhamdulillah she manage with her worry more than me she also manage to settle herself and find out that as she was homeschool it s hard for her at first to fit in not because she socialization problem but maturity she was alhamdulillah way more mature and that drive her a bit crazy with surrounding situation for the first couple of weeks i will be on and off having serious chat with her as although she can handle it still she need to be guided through therefore i will remind her about watching her praying time where to pray how she socialize with boys in the class etc i always believe doesn t matter how good and perfect we teach our kids before as adult we also have up and down iman we also need to be remind so do them especially this is her first out and about on her own alhamdulillah she manage to keep herself on toe and see reality behind outside world and i am happily work together with her and trust she also maturely grow which might surprise at one point i have less job to do at home to be honest on daily routine although she might have late morning on the day she not in college but she will take over most of the things around the house after washing laundry cleaning she set her own task of cleaning bathroom toilet and hover whole upstairs on weekend she will wash everything and tidy up kitchen in the night before she go up although on her college day she was just blossom and grow without needing my shout much anymore which i found as a bless i keep thinking how hard it is to get to this stage i can only dream off before but alhamduillah it works it works i was always worry about life skill rather than academic skill and i get through it with lots of hurdle but manage alhamdulillah at the moment ms still have not take his gcse yet he of course not on the level he suppose to be but as dyslexic which can be seen more as he grow i take it easy i used to concentrate on him so much till i might slightly neglect the others i do not want him to feel that his younger brother and sister are clever than him but as he understand his situation i know that i have further the others as quick as i can my plan now is to get all three of them on igcse for maths and english for may 2016 exam ms actually finish key stage 3 and 4 for his maths curriculum with conquer maths but being a dyslexic he can forget easily how to do thing next minute therefore i put him back on conquer math from year 6 and going up through the level he is now finishing year 7 and he should be able to get the whole curriculum done for his igcse exam by next year insya allah he also into free running parkour once a week he will go with one of his friend to a gym which provide free running exercise about half an hour away drive by his friend grandmother we still not sure about course he will take in college and although i take it easy but i do put a pressure at one point as there are many successful dyslexic and there are lots of chance for him to move forward s and as grow more maturely s help around with houesework a lots as ps busy with her college as also been given more formal and serious housework task after we came back from malaysia as is a very strict with routine and task therefore i can just give command for his chores and school work and he will ensure everything get done daily alhamdulillah there are so many hurdle still in the future i look forward to spend more quality time with kdis despite of my busy ness of business also we look forward for more overland journey which we all have now fall in love with posted by sofinee harun at 18 06 no comments sunday 4 january 2015 we back with many story to tell it has been a very long hiatus from us well from me since i log into facebook virtual life seems going around my private facebook only although i miss blogging i find it difficult to spend time to write unfortunately at the same time i think i been talking to myself too much and everything seem and feel like only in my mind i have to out it in writing i keep telling my self after years last night i thought i open a new blog for my own sake for some reason i found out that i feel refresh motivated and a need to make change i am desperate to see after a very long journey 4 th ramadhan 13 july 2013 me and my family has embark into an epic journey across europe central asia and asia continent we drive with purposely bought motorhome from the uk to malaysia it has been an experience and learning curve for all of us despite not fully want to commit for the journey kids throughly enjoy every place we went it took us 5 month to reach malaysia over 26 countries and almost 25 500 km i have some videos in my new blog http mystoryourjourney2 blogspot co uk hope that i can share all story and experience soon many are also waiting for me to write and publish book but i haven t manage yet insya allah soon turkey is one of the country which all my kids love it soo much posted by sofinee harun at 12 24 no comments labels byroadtomalaysia tuesday 8 may 2012 busy possibly i am busy with all sort of thing we had been on unschooling time for quiet sometimes when i busy than in between kids will do their formal school work it wasn t bad now i reckon we did our quran readin everyday alhamdulillah it was and still slow but progress i guess i was and will be very fussy with quran reading alhamdulillah i ve been bless with good proper quran teacher than at the age of 13 my mum arrange for a tajweed teacher come to teach me an dmy mum at home i did learn quiet a lots of this teacher apart from what we learn in primary school so i am quiet fussy when it come to reading quran especially with pronounciation especially with kids who had english as their first language but alhamdulillah it was progressing but very very slow and i don t mind important for them to grasp and master the pronunciation thanks to ummrashid who send me link for science sorry i haven t got a chance to reply i will insya allah go through it once financially permit i am going to get the english course first for ms and s hopefully by end of this month i am concentrate for them with three important subject which is english maths and science i am going to sit and decide weather ms and s will take biology physic and chemistry as double science or they just going to take two from the three as ps did or just foundation science i had to decide early than later as it give pressure on them if it s too late at the moment when ever we got time with formal homeschool maths will be the topic that they just get on straight away ms is revision on key stage 3 with workbooks which is very good at one time he will do at least 3 5 pages sometimes up to 7 pages this enable him to cover up the time when i was busy and needed his help around s still on mindsprinting with maths so do as s still with time topic she find it a bit difficult with time problem but she get there worksheet also getting harder and a bit complicated and tricky so she only manage to do one set at the time unlike as who will usually do 2 3 set at the time and today as we had holidaying for quiet some time i get him to do 10 set he actually take around 10 minutes for one set of sheet or sometimes less it s muliplication and division with one digit at the time he s very quick with it so make job easy alhamdulillah i had made some more research about dyslexic i had talk to a friend who is a doctor she suggest me to bring ms to the doctor but i think i will contact the organisation and get ms to do assessment he improve so much in reading a lots and he doesn t sound struggle anymore but still he lack of concentration at some point had short term memory problem or even he cannot remember his childhood at some point he need a constant nagging in term of concentration and focusing just like many dyslexic and it s just about time for me to get some help around he has been improved than what i used to worried about him alhamdulillah i am still worried about him in term of socialisation not because his homeschool but because of lack of understanding from people surrounding him which i now try to understand and look back i think it was quiet horrible of not understanding the situation ps was sooooooo busy of course her first paper is this friday some of her school friends from first college which transfer to interhigh all go back to year 10 actually and will be taking exam next year what a waste of time and money interhigh is but there you go it s an experience and cannot regret it was a nice school in some way in term of homeschool i like it how they teach different than what in the curriculum but when it come to exam teaching outside curriculum and teaching for knowledge is no good a reminder for me as well as getting the kids to take exam is somewhat needed proper teaching rather than just pick and mix we had to be in the system or in the curriculum to be able to at least reach the standard in the exam especially with gcse so ps was behind before when she was with first college but as i put her on year 11 and plus i register her for higher tier paper for maths she had to work harder and harder in short time i know she might not get good result due to the time that she got to learn and finish the whole curriculum but she work very very hard poor her until she think her head going to explode for me it has reach the target although she haven t sit on exam yet she had constantly on revision she understand now learning for exam is different than learning for knowledge or info she understand now that some of what she learn she might not going to used it in later life she had fight the stress she had gone through pressure and i could say she manage to handle it in her own way and although she soung like giving up sometimes she never did she is a true fighter and as for that for me this had meet the purpose of why i want my kids to take the exam she on pretty much excellent independent learning with revision she had matured though out i am really glad if she didn t get at a i know she already achieve what needed to achieve and learn from exam i had to go now may be some more post later hopefully posted by sofinee harun at 14 11 1 comment saturday 17 march 2012 update not sure why it is hard for me to update on this blog i do have time but might not be proper time to proper update may be i had to write a bit than try to write too much after long time i am busy and very very busy indeed still kids are on homeschool formal and informal ps is stress and keep thinking
