family by in the evening and quinn was such a hoot she was loving being the ring leader telling everyone what to do it was a full aerobics and dance class in one haha may 7th quinn made a car for her stuffies we also wanted to see if we could set up the bounce house inside in case it rained for quinn s preschool party spoiler it did not fit i remember that week feeling so busy it was teacher appreciation week mother s day weekend coming up and quinn s birthday i definitely felt the maycember of it all as i have heard people say all so fun but wowza may left me tired haha i did find these books for the teacher s to put in their gift bags i thought they were too cute to pass on i received some beautiful flowers and balloons for mother s day that week too quinn was able to bring a birthday treat for preschool that week so i ordered some baked by melissa paw patrol cupcakes unfortunately they arrived totally defrosted and warm so we couldn t use them they did resend a new shipment and gave us store credit as well they have fantastic customer service and how cute are these i also made a shepherds pie that took longer than i d like to admit and that neither kid really beer also apparently i have been saying michelob wrong i have been pronouncing it mish eh lob quinn found some sunglasses for mr moose april 24th i took tripp in for his first ear infection there was so much wax built up they had to flush it out i have never heard him cry that hard and it was awful i felt so helpless he was much happier once we got him on antibiotics though i let him do lots of danny go in the evening as a good distraction from the discomfort he loves danny go so much he ll say more go more go more da go my personal favorite is gimme that garbage if you need a midday pick me up that ll do the trick clean eatz for the win after a stressful day quinnie made moose a collar teeth brushing was a struggle around that time with tripp so i got him a mini electric one like mine he actually loves it it worked well to get him on board with brushing without much of a fight i also put him backwards in my lap on the floor sing brushy brush by elmo or play it pretend the toothbrush is an airplane and then we usually have success i laugh thinking about the first time i have to give instructions to someone doing his bedtime routine april 26th we went to my niece and nephew s dedication at their church it was a special morning that afternoon i baked up my first loaf of einkorn sourdough it actually came out quite well for a first loaf tasted delightful that evening we frolicked around gigi and grandpa s backyard april 27th i got a chick fil a date with quinnie q it s tough to veer from their spicy chicken sandwich but this salad was calling my name yum we went to a new playground after and played floor is lava april 29th we tried out the new little diggers in fairlawn it was so much fun the kids had a ball quinn and i went through a phase of playing daycare together that month the doll in the chair falls asleep during every class i also tried these new crackers that we really enjoyed that day i made some chicken thighs couscous and roasted carrots i added dolmas to my plate that evening i heard an odd sound in our playroom it sounded like radio static no one was in there at the time i investigated and realized the walkie talkies were on and picking up someone else s conversation we gathered that it was likely a neighborhood family communicating with their own walkie talkies the words weren t super clear but that s what it seemed dj said hello into one and it was radio silence after that unfortunately i think we really spooked whoever we were hearing sorry neighbors that week i also made two crockpots full of marry me chicken roasted green beans and some pasta to take to a friend who just had a baby i made enough to keep some back for us for dinner too april 30th i made the kids a classic i loved growing up buttered cheerios i forgot to get a picture until i was going to clean up the leftovers but here is what i got haha anyway quinn and tripp both gobbled them up all you do is stir some butter and cheerios in a frying pan birthday brunchy chronicles the lion king on broadway published on july 21 2026 by mackenzie 10 comments i just absolutely loved this past week well minus the apocalyptic air quality and parasite outbreak besides all that i loved it can t wait to share all about it we ate a lot of great food tried some new recipes celebrated moose s 5th bday and went to the lion king on broadway i was smiling the entire time going through my camera roll getting the pictures ready for this post july 12th was a nice chill reset day for the week we went to the later service for church since everyone slept in and stayed at home to play all day for dinner we ordered from honeygrow this has become a favorite of ours on nights that i am out of groceries or ideas for dinner dj and i have been loving their salads lately but with the cyclospora source unidentified at that time we went with noodles i always get the red curry it does not disappoint dj gets the garlic chicken and that one is fantastic too monday july 13th we ventured to downtown cuyahoga falls for their splash pad i had no idea what to predict with tripp s nap that day since we were all off a sleep schedule from going on vacation will hopefully post that soon naturally he fell asleep on the way maggie stayed in the car with him while he finished up his nap and quinn and i perused the shops on front street we stopped into morty s munchies a dog bakery we ve never stopped in before i don t know how this wasn t on my radar it s adorable the baked goods are too stinking cute since moose had a birthday coming up i told quinn she could pick out a few treats to bring home i ll show a picture of those later we also grabbed a birthday hat and a dino squeak toy for him quinn really picked the dinosaur for herself i think haha we then walked next door to asterick coffee bar downtown cuyahoga falls has some stellar coffee destinations this and yada yada are some of my favorite around i ordered us drinks and we grabbed some treats to try they have one of the best chocolate chip cookies ever it has toffee in it i believe it s unreal we also tried a jalapeno cheddar scone need i say more also one more note about asterick they make all their syrups in house i got vanilla in mine and it was delicious we walked around sipping on our drinks a milk for quinnie and chit chatted bliss we stopped into grandpa joe s where maggie and tripp met up with us since he woke up from his nap the kids could have cleaned the store out they loved the toys in there we did end up getting a bacon flavored frisbee for moose and some dog magnets that looked like little rhodesian ridgebacks off to the splash pad we go quinn was entirely uninterested haha she kicked back in the wagon and continued sipping on her milk tripp had fun though it s a pretty small splash pad so we didn t last too long but it was still worth trying out when we got home i whipped together a recipe i ve been wanting to try for a while sweet potato brownies i feel like baked goods that veer from the usual format are usually a fail for me but this one was a winner we had a swim makeup for quinnie that evening it was a busy but super fun day to prep for dinner july 14th maggie and i tag teamed a lasagna with whatever we had on hand and hidden veggies i blended crushed tomatoes with some olive oil carrots and italian seasoning to make the sauce you d never know the carrots were in there also i shaved some fontina cheese on top which was a nice touch we also went to a makeup swim for tripp that day and ran into family there which was fun july 15th i made sourdough discard pancakes to start the day they turned out excellent not sure i m ever going to make pancakes differently i mixed together 1 cup of discard 1 2 cup all purpose flour 1 2 cup almond milk 1 egg 2 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp melted butter 1 2 tsp baking soda 1 2 tsp salt and vanilla extract measured with my heart not sure why a toy car is on the stove but also not surprised haha that morning quinn and maggie worked on making decorations for moose s party we were throwing at lunch time quinn loves making the loops that you connect as streamers here are the baked goods we got from the bakery the chocolate one is actually just blueberry don t worry here s a picture of a streamer dj was able to sneak out of his office to sing happy birthday too we sang and let moose choose a treat he got one different treat each day after that the birthday boy how is our moose 5 the rest of wednesday was a chill at home kind of day i let quinn stay in her pjs all day she loves a pj day who doesn t we did crafts played with some rotated toy bins and danced i was pretty proud of this little caterpillar we made out of pom poms and fuzzy sticks july 16th we went to storytime in the morning we haven t been able to go much this summer so it was nice to make it that day we ran into quite a few people we knew too from church and quinn s preschool while tripp napped that afternoon i got a little bit of one on one time with quinn while she was eating lunch we talked about vowels i wrote some words she then circled the vowels in these words with a key to help her at the top moose s actual birthday was that day so we gave him some bison and sweet potato followed by a treat of his choosing for dessert that day and the next were particularly wild with the air quality here s a picture of the sun at 9 am on friday july 17th it s so hard to explain to a 4 and 1 yr old why they can t play outside or eat blueberries ya know we slept with three air purifiers and the whole family in one room which really helped with the air quality inside while we slept that day when tripp went down for his nap dj and i snuck in a date while maggie watched tripp we went to blue door because where else it s simply the best we started with a chocolate pistachio croissant while we waited for the rest of our meal i really like their coffee there coffee a croissant is one of my favorite combos it s always so hard to choose what to order when we re here there are just too many options that call out to us we both were eyeing their fried chicken and blue cheese grilled cheese but ultimately decided on ordering something else and splitting the grilled cheese too knowing we d have leftovers which we are all about i feel like i have told anyone that will listen about this dish it was sooo good if you like blue cheese add this to your food bucket list it had organic sourdough air chilled fried chicken imported provolone sweet onion jam crumbled berkshire pork bacon and point reyes creamery smokey blue cheese dipping sauce with marzano tomato soup i also had a smoked salmon croissant it was super good but honestly i think anything would nearly pale in comparison to the flavor of the grilled cheese dj got the monte cristo crepe which he has ordered before he said it s probably one of his all time favorite brunch dishes he s ever had it was so wonderful to have that time together ️ saturday july 18th was one of my favorite days of all time quinn recently went to a musical her cousin was in and absolutely loved it i saw the lion king was going to be in cleveland and i figured it would be the perfect opportunity to have a mom daughter day we got ready in our matching dresses and left the house around 1115 we parked at the playhouse square parking garage which made it very easy to walk directly to the theater since they re connected i treasured holding quinn s hand walking just the two of us sharing that time with my focus on her i didn t know what our lunch plans were but planned to figure it out once we arrived the show wasn t until 1 30 so we had some time the first thing that surprised me was the gorgeous concourse area with lots of different options for food drinks etc there was a coffee shop with pastries a glamorous bar a sushi restaurant a fruit bowl stand and other restaurants i realized we wouldn t have to look far for something good to eat we decided on republic since it was a sit down spot we were seated immediately the place was a whole vibe quinnie got the fanciest orange juice of her life i realized i hadn t brought anything to entertain her usually i have a restaurant bag on hand with various activities it hadn t even crossed my mind but she sat there so pat...
