d booked this as a solo experience two others in my group decided to join me and the three of us had a great time with charles who was attentive and clearly excited about what we were doing it was a rainy night which produced great street reflections and lovely parades of umbrellas charles met us where he said he would and was on time and had our tripods ready i would book with eyexplore again with no hesitations great experience rated 5 out of 5 devinj974 december 23 2023 i did both the bespoke photo adventure with charles and the urban geometry with laurence on the same day in november both tours were outstanding urban geometry with laurence we met in the morning and he took me to several areas around tokyo showing me creative ways to capture the beautiful hard lines of buildings and shadows i ve always wondered how some of the most amazing high contrast shots i ve seen online were done and working with laurence i was able to replicate many of them additionally sometimes when there weren t any good subjects in just the perfect position laurence would run down and become the subject himself bespoke photo adventure with charles later in the evening of the same day i met with charles for a 5 hour adventure focusing on cyber punk and vertigo shots we had an incredible time going around tokyo in the evening from high up on rooftops to capture vertigo inducing photos to the streets of shibuya and kabukichō charles showed me tons of tricks to get the shots i wanted and he even researched a particular style i really enjoyed called are bure boke before we met to help me capture the exact feeling in those images overall it was a superb time and i wound up with hundreds of fantastic shots i ll be processing for months to come what an excellent use of a day in tokyo not only did i get many memories and learn a lot about tokyo from both photographers but i ve learned a lot more about street photography rated 5 out of 5 m7449vtryand december 16 2023 i would occasionally watch eyexplore youtube videos and a few days before my trip to japan i had a video playing in the background my gf heard them mention workshops and said i should do one i d watched quite a few of their videos and never knew about the website or photography workshops they held so i signed up for the tokyo cyberpunk workshop in late november 2023 i brought an r6 mkii and two lenses 24 70 2 8 and a 35mm 1 8 prime though i ended up only using the zoom lens prior to this i d never been to japan and i didn t know my way around so this workshop was great to have someone that knows the area show you cool photo areas as well as coach you on anything from composition camera settings and how to see the world the way they do charles was the guide teacher for this workshop and he was very friendly and personable he taught and showed a few techniques i d never done before such as panning we went through a lot of cool areas and got some nice shots it seems like they know their route and spots for the workshop which moves it along well from taking photos to walking to the next spot and chatting along the way it felt like a guided video game quest in a sense probably a lot of people that do these workshops get the same shots and subjects but along the way there s plenty of opportunities to find other shots that are interesting by the end i think the workshop really helps give a sense of how to do street photography in tokyo and what to look out for being able to branch out afterwards and do your own thing with the knowledge of the workshop in mind i would definitely do another workshop from eyexplore the next time i am in japan rated 5 out of 5 robertofsanfran november 29 2023 i actually did 6 tours with lukasz and charles in tokyo and all of them were excellent i had such a good time learning how to use my camera in depth while exploring and learning about tokyo every day we went to places i would never find on my own and my good friend who lives half the year in tokyo wanted to know where we went as they were new to her so if you want to have a delightful time learn about your camera and taking better photos and get to know tokyo from top to bottom i really recommend these tours have fun i am looking forward to more tokyo photo safaris when i return rated 5 out of 5 phil november 7 2023 i attended the cyberpunk streets tour on two nights with lukasz as my guide after stumbling across the youtube channel during early days of lockdown in ny i have been a fan and avid follower of both lukasz s work and the channel it was a fantasy for years to be able to travel to japan and to take one of the workshops with the hope of taking even a single good photograph i could walk away and be happy with the fantasy became reality and my expectations were thoroughly exceeded firstly lukasz is the exact same in person as he appears online down to earth easygoing and with an incredible passion for photography and the city of tokyo both tours of 3 hours absolutely flew by he was so approachable and easy going and it felt like going out shooting with a friend that happened to be much more familiar with the area he guided me on some settings initially which was very helpful and then we were off i saw parts of the city i absolutely never would have found otherwise and learned an immense amount about the city and culture as a whole from someone who was from the west and has lived here for years even though we spent in total 6 hours together i could tell that we were barely scratching the surface of lukasz s knowledge of this city he made some tweaks for our second tour based on what subjects i was more interested in during our first session which was just incredible there is nothing i would have wanted to be different on this tour and it was truly the experience of a lifetime you will see the city in a way a tourist otherwise never would along with the friendliest guide whose passion for the photography and the city is truly contagious it was the highlight of my trip and in addition to having an incredible time i walked away with some of the best photos i have ever taken rated 5 out of 5 angelaft4509n june 16 2023 wonderful street shooting experience i loved my street tour with lukasz we spent several hours walking and shooting all kinds of street scenes this was a private tour tailor made to my interests i could not have accomplished this much in as little time when visiting a city such as tokyo on my own he was very accommodating and i got nudged out of my comfort zone just a tad which was very worthwhile it would be very easy to stay stuck where we are comfortable but this was a fantastic way of experiencing photography boosting my confidence up a notch thank you rated 5 out of 5 michaelnmelb june 3 2023 street photography in tokyo i was picked up by lee from my hotel in ginza at 4pm we had a good chat about street photography and made a rough plan of locations i wanted to visit lee is very accommodating and easy to get along with we transited via train to various areas including akihabara ueno ikebukuru and shinjuku lee picked out some of his favourite locations and also was open to explore anything that caught my eye along the way a great guide and very helpful with composition and camera tips time went quickly and we ended up after 10pm i got the train back to ginza with a lot of memories and a great experience highly recommended and i would book a course with lee any time thanks for the being a great guide rated 5 out of 5 joli_papillon april 27 2023 highlight of my time in japan i met lukasz for the bespoke tour of tokyo late in the afternoon for the next 6 hours we traveled all over the city and we took various types of photos some were abstract from the cool interiors of office buildings near my hotel we got some great street photos on a busy friday evening and even used a tripod to get some light trails from a bridge even though my group tour was going to senso ji shrine the next day i really wanted to shoot there at night so lukasz and i traveled there on the subway so glad we did i loved the images i took there and i learned more from lukasz about the temple and shrine there than i did the next day lukasz is super knowledgeable about the temples shrines and culture as he has lived there for 15 years even though i am an experienced photographer i learned a lot from lukasz i really enjoyed his company and i got some amazing shots it was totally worth the money and was something i really could not have done on my own photography it certainly provided the opportunity to capture some amazing images but more that that it opened our eyes to the potential and possibilities of street photography lukasz was so generous various parts of nighttime tokyo with eyexplore professional charles i can t praise this experience enough firstly charles is an experienced photo pro with a complete knowledge of the art and a huge arsenal of tips and tricks he readily shares having been a shooter for years i can honesty say i learned a lot from charlie second after a discussion of what i was looking for image wise charles put together a fantastic tour starting in my hotel lobby in shinagawa where we met and then we hit a ton of off the beaten path areas with fantastic photographic appeal from tiny back alleys to marketplaces to above the street perspectives and unique rainy night opportunities lastly the tour was thorough we trained and walked for hours had great conversations and charles quirky sense of humor kept it lively the whole time i was happily exhausted at the conclusion lat in the night i will totally book another bespoke tour on my next visit rated 5 out of 5 danielperalta november 29 2019 different photographers lukasz lee and axel and each one gave us an amazing experience we not only saw areas of each city we would never have known about and got amazing photographs but we learned a lot about japanese culture from each of our photographers as photographers ourselves we loved seeing these cities through the lens of local photographers who appreciated the beauty and artistry of the of 5 storyofheinrich april 22 2019 i ve booked three workshops with eyexplore in april 2019 tokyo vertigo tokyo metropolis and urban geometry with laurence with laurence me and my girlfriend had a private workshop for about four hours and it was a great experience i can recommend to you you will capture great stuff i recommend to use the b w mode with high contrast the results are amazing and laurence is a very nice guy with a lot of experience and he takes the time to explain all the necessary stuff for composition and camera settings so if you would like to improve your urban street photography skills then go for it and book this workshop worth every yen greets from germany rated 5 out of 5 ian r april 12 2019 i did the tokyo night tour the temples of tokyo tour and the temples of kyoto tour these should really be called workshops since lukasz axel and charles spent a lot of time helping me to understand my camera settings the unique composition opportunities at each location and encouraged me to experiment to achieve new results my background hobby photographer self taught reading lots of blogs never had any formal photography workshops or classes before eyexplore shooting on a sony a6000 with the kit wide angle and kit zoom lens i appreciated all three tours and each one has a different flavor in kyoto the cherry blossoms were in full bloom so axel did a great job of altering his usual tour to really focus in on the cherry blossoms as a result i have some awesome shots of cherry blossoms shrines we focused on the 55 210mm lens in the temples of tokyo tour i asked charles to focus more on the typical temples route plus some street photography since i felt i had already gotten great cherry blossom shots with axel charles has an excellent set of shots on this tour and does a great job showing how the photographer can get involved to make the scene into what they want vs passively capturing what is already there we split time between the 18 50mm and the 55 210mm lenses in the tokyo night tour lukasz was amazing and worked with my schedule to start the tour pretty far away from his normal location he has an excellent library of locations to choose from and i think each location yielded me a once in a lifetime shot i really appreciated that he took the time to make sure i got a sharp well exposed shot in each location before moving on night photography is iterative and he really knows what is possible at each location a few locations took up to a dozen tries before he was happy with the result i also appreciated that lukasz was already familiar with my specific camera model and knew how to adjust the settings to get the shot we exclusively used the 18 50mm lens almost always wide open overall i would highly recommend any eyexplore tour to any photographer at any level their team will work with you to get great shots and introduce you to really cool areas of the city you might not otherwise explore rated 5 out of 5
