indian india has a rich culture as we flit from east to the west north or south and living in a global world showcasing the various states or cities culture is no shame except for people with a sense of false superiority or living in their ivory towers right i am speaking about the cannes festival where for columnists like shobha de and the print give the impression that only a group of people can do it and the rest can t do cannes it reeks of colonialism make no mistake i have read the books and columns of shobha ji and she is someone whom i admire for her pen and comments on various social issues unfortunately this time i cannot agree with her when she chooses to make fun or deride the rich diverse and vibrant indian culture showcased at cannes right from celebrating marathi to malayalam punjabi and gujarati cinema the comments made reek of a huge sense of entitlement so does the publication the print which shows not only apathy and scant disregard for the rich indian culture showcased at cannes and also a sense of misplaced superiority her comments cannes ko pura pura cartoon network bana diya but mainly they represented their regional identities dressed like they robbery no they won t do it since everything western must be applauded for its superiority and rich indian culture showcased must be derided this is the problem with such publications and columnists or people on social media having such a superiority complex where one wonders that decades after we obtained independence we still suffer from colonial hangover cartoon journalism is getting the upper and pen their thoughts on women shaming in an online forum the time has come to stop such cyberbullying it s about time for journalists and reporters to behave in a responsible manner and as mighty as the power of the pen is they are contributing towards deriding not only the country s culture and also giving wings to misandry and sexism the irony is that women shaming on social media by celebrity
