t just happen spontaneously you know leave a comment filed under snark november 25 2008 7 34 pm tyler thigpen some good some bad the long td pass tyler threw this week to mark bradley was 45 yards in the air and right on the mark tyler was on the run and threw across his body to make that pass he has used his strength and accuracy to burn defenses this year i think more defenses will respect that arm strength more next year after having an offseason of game film to study the td pass to jamaal charles was underthrown of course that put it where only the receiver could get it so maybe it was on purpose but it could have been an easier td if tyler had hit charles in stride tyler has shown a tendency to underthrow some long passes this may be due to throwing on the run and i think he will fix that in the off season in 6 starts tyler thigpen still hasn t thrown for 300 yards if you project thigpen s numbers in the last 5 games since taking over as full time starting qb over a full season you get 325 completions on 547 attempts for 3555 yds 35 tds and 9 ints i think most teams would take that in 3 of his last 5 games and even including his earlier start he was well under 60 passing that won t cut it then again if bradley and bowe dropped less passes he d be over 60 and we d probably have another win or two drops happen but bowe has been exceptionally frustrating with the number type of his drops although he has improved over the last few weeks his two games of greater than 60 completions he was well over 60 these were in games he had his 1 and 3 career high passing attempts despite some early games with less than 4 yds att tyler is still averaging 6 yds att overall in games since taking over as the full time starter tyler is averaging 6 93 yds att that is almost enough to be a solid starter since taking over as full time starter tyler has thrown 11 td passes to 3 ints you want your starting qb to be over 7 yds att over 60 and have a 3 1 td int ratio tyler nearly has even read the comments on bob gretz site or the discussions at my old stomping grounds at chiefs coalition it s all the same thing fire herm fire gunther fire cp dorsey sucks lj sucks we won t win another game all season this is unacceptable we are a laughing stock sure i don t enjoy the games as much when we lose but what s the point of whining like a little girl the whiners say they are just being realistic just trying to make the team accountable to the fans just venting etc but the unrelenting negativity is tiring the chiefs aren t very good this year but i do believe herm is a good coach i appreciate what cp has done and in my opinion he has worked very hard to win a super bowl with different philosophies he started with marty schottenheimer and went as far as he could with listening to marty s plans then he promoted a fan favorite in gunther but gun was a little bit disorganized as a head coach he actually did okay coming within a snakebit kicker situation three kicks out of bounds in one game of winning the afc west one year and then having his start starting wr suffer what ended up being a career ending knee injury before the start of his second year maybe gun would have righted things in time but dick vermeil came available and he was a proven super bowl winning coach with an innovative offense unfornately the nfl had already figured out how to defense that style of offense well enough that we didn t come close to a super bowl now we are trying herm edwards who did a good job leading the jets to more playoff appearances then any other coach in the history of that franchise you see from that carl peterson has tried 4 different approaches with 4 different coaches he listened to his coaches and tried to get them what they wanted but if you are going to hire a coach you shouldn t pull the plug too early you have to give them a chance to adjust from mistakes he didn t give that chance to gunther and it just delayed vermeil s rebuilding because gunther had just started to get his own people in place when the roster was overturned for vermeil this is one of the deepest turnovers we ve ever had we cut all sorts of veterans that could have made the difference between winning and losing already we could easiliy be 6 5 and on the bubble for a playoff spot with a more veteran team with all of our talented youngsters sitting the bench we wouldn t know what we had with thigpen or carr or leggett we wouldn t have bradley we might have already given up on tank tyler we wouldn t have had as many picks to get albert cottam charles carr etc we are losing but i really believe we are only a few players away from competing for the playoffs and only a little more experience at key spots from dominating the afc west and contending for a super bowl win positions needed in order good mlb may need one with pro bowl potential like a high 1st round draft pick pass rushing de olb rg rt that s it getting solid starters at those positions will get us into the playoffs of those players only 2 need to be a high pick so spend our 1st round pick on a mlb and our 2nd round pick on a de or trade down for 2 1st round picks and get em both then use later picks to get an olb the rg rt and maybe some risky projects as insurance to see if someone can step up at de and mlb like we did with leggett and carr this past off season that means we should be able to fill all our weak areas with just 5 7 picks and that doesn t count someone developing from within to grab those spots like dacus growing into a good mlb or johnston developing into an effective rusher with hard work in the off season weight program he showed some developing decent rush skills before going on ir with an additional off season and year of experience at these spots in addition to the draft picks detailed above we will contend for a super bowl qb tyler thigpen cbs flowers carr leggett dts tank tyler and dorsey lt albert c niswanger receivers bowe franklin cottam rbs charles to stop fumbling and kolby smith ss pollard page although he is reaching his peak and dujuan morgan lb derrick johnson needs to be a force in games like he has in the past perhaps a better lb coach will do that the bottom line is there is nothing i can do as a fan but watch wait and see there is some hope on the horizon whining and complaining doesn t help at all and i just don t want and use a cheese grater on the back of your thighs until you bleed bonus points to anyone who gets the reference and names the principles not yet but i can guarantee you that if we saw an epidemic of cheese grater injuries at our emergency rooms and it cost millions of dollars in medical insurance pay outs and missed work and even a few hundred or so deaths we d have a law against that behavior so quick it would make your head spin that is unless the cheese grater political action group didn t block passage of such a law on the basis of some ambiguous human rights argument is running a stop sign evil if there were no penalties for running stop signs how many people do you think would do it occasionally if there were no law against running stop signs i would bet that you would see new drivers run them the most often and as drivers grew in experience they would obey stop signs more often that s because someone who has been driving for 40 years would have seen more than one accident from someone ignoring stop signs and quite possibly would have even struck another car or been struck by another car they would learn from experience and then most likely they would use that experience to try and pass laws against ignoring stop signs they would do this to prevent unnecessary pain and suffering they would try to pass the laws so some reckless young driver would know that even though it seems like a waste of time to stop at stop signs there are penalties for failing to do so they would try to pass the laws so that all drivers would have a chance to learn to obey stop signs to avoid artificial punishments so that they will never have to experience the natural consequences of ignoring stop signs i e loss of life or having to live with killing a happy family etc laws always seem unnecessary to the inexperienced laws are usually advocated for by the experienced the experienced usually don t need the laws because by realizing that a law is necessary they have already internalized the necessity of the proper behavior and looking at it another way laws are necessary to stop people from doing something that they feel is a natural normal and acceptable action but is actually harmful to themselves others or society in general we have laws that are unnecessary and there are laws we need but don t have society changes and the need for certain laws wax and wane in concert with not just the desires intents of the citizreny but with the understanding of the natural consequences as the toll of widespread smoking became more and more clear communities passed laws against smoking the number of smokers in the us has plummeted if smoking is ever eradicated we will probably not need laws punishing smoking in public places but laws against smoking are good and useful for the overall and individual health of our people even if it feels like an imposition or a violation of human rights because honestly do you have a human right to run a stop sign what s the difference between smoking in a public place and running a stop sign there were no laws against psycho active drugs and people went wild with them after decades of strong anti drug laws we are reaching a stage where it is possible to at least conceive of ending those laws someday why because the impact of drugs is known well enough that those who are deterred by laws are already pretty much deterred and those not deterred won t be deterred no matter what laws you pass please not i don t think were actually at the point where we can abolish all drug laws but we re far closer than we
