february 19 2012 during the 7 hours of flight time i had in the past two days i managed to catch up on some knitting and some knitting podcasts and in so doing learned about the finish frog slog along the women from the doubleknit podcast have started basically everyone posts about their ufos the projects that they just want to frog but haven t done so yet or to get support on those projects that seem to be taking forever i know i don t need another knitting challenge this year but i think this dovetails nicely with some of the things i really have to get done i ve come up with at least five projects i can participate with the first two are related and there are both ufos my flocked mittens and gerda s scarf i wanted both of these done before winter started and neither one is even half way there the scarf isn t even 25 done my new goal is to have these ready by the start of next winter at least i finished the hat my other three projects need to be frogged the first is poinsettia i don t know why i even started this sweater in the first place the knitting is done so it only needs to be finished but no i m not doing it i m frogging it instead and finding a much better use for the yarn i was digging through my stash a few months ago and found this half completed baby outfit it was pants and a wrap sweater sort of thing it s cute but not finished i have no idea who i was making it for and whether or not i even have the pattern anymore the yarn is cute though so i should frog this project to make other cute baby things finally and this one makes me sad lys i was so excited to make this sweater i saved up the money to buy all of the required yarns but as i was making it i just didn t like it i haven t been able to bring myself to frog the completed pieces there are lots of yarn changes in this project so i m not sure how much of the yarn i can save i m sure a lot of it will be thrown out but i should have some worsted weight yarn i can safe to at least make hats or fingerless mitts or something it would be a better use of the yarn than it sitting in my stash in the form of a sweater i will never finish this one in particular makes me feel like a failure but it just wasn t meant to be i m not sure when i will get started on all of these as i m trying to finish some baby projects first maybe next month posted in uncategorized 1 comment hexipuffing month 6 posted by andi on february 17 2012 after a couple of months of little progress i made 21 new hexipuffs this month there are several reasons for the heightened level of productivity first no more holiday knitting second i was actually in town and on a somewhat normal schedule so i had much more knitting time in general than i had in the past couple of months third i ve been watching a lot of television and hexipuffs are fantastic television projects the other three projects i had on my needles are not very good television projects so they were pushed to the side why was i watching so much television it s a combination of the fact that our dvr is almost constantly near capacity so we need to watch shows to make room for new shows and that i am trying to watch oscar nominated films on netflix fourth i broke into the lorna s laces mini skeins i got for christmas and was excited to see how they would all knit up this is great however hexipuffing is about to come to a screeching halt i will be pretty busy over the next couple of weeks with less knitting time and when i am knitting i really need to work on other projects baby knitting i know two women who recently welcomed new bundles of joy into their lives and i m busy working on gifts for their little ones i need to get them done while the babies are still small enough to fit into what i m making posted in uncategorized 2 comments fo sandalwood socks posted by andi on february 11 2012 pattern sandalwood socks by caitlin stevens from the winter 2008 issue of interweave knits yarn schoeller stahl fortissima socka in 1058 needles us 1 date started october 22 2011 date completed february 4 2012 these were supposed to be finished in 2011 as part of the sock stash knitdown but as you can see i finished these about five weeks too late there are two reasons why it took me so long to finish these first i mostly knit these on airplanes and although i was traveling enough to get these done much sooner i was using flight time to get some precious sleep too many flights were very early in the morning and i needed all of the sleep i could get second i had too much holiday knitting to get done then i broke the needle so i had to order a new one which i posted about a couple of weeks ago in the end i finally had to finish these socks because i needed the needle for another project i really couldn t be bothered to take a lot of nice pictures of these socks sorry but here is what the lace on the front looks like i wore these socks for the first time yesterday they were a tiny bit loose in the foot but otherwise i love them they are very cute and comfy posted in uncategorized leave a comment blog at wordpress com subscribe subscribed knitstant gratification sign me up already have a wordpress
