hurricane lala has sustained winds of 75 mph and gusts up to 120 mph according to the national hurricane center nhc on land winds are variable because of the mountainous terrain winds here in puna are around 20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph so far the roof is still holding on to the house and there has been no damage to any of the homes in the area lala has brought heavy rainfall and strong winds to hawai i island flooding and road closures are in effect hawai i electric company heco reports power outages across the big island we have already experienced several short term power outages as of 12
