situation and being surrounded with support and care and getting to move on and recover but what if they don t they ve spent god knows how long in their own personal hell captivity torture isolation for what felt like an eternity they held onto the idea of finally being freed rescued released and one day it just happens political pressure a hostage exchange a rescue whatever happens one day they re just free but they come home and everything s different they never had a huge network to begin with and now the people who still care just don t know how to deal with them and their trauma it s all too much they re not the person they used to be the person their friends used to love sure they ve been given medical treatment for their obvious wounds but the doctors just don t seem to understand them when they say that there s a pain that never quite goes away they ve had the mandatory counselling but the therapist s empty platitudes made them feel all the more disconnected from their reality for so long they waited for this but now it feels like their past is an impossible weight on their chest never letting them move forward people tell them that they have their future ahead of them but they can t help but wonder if they should have just died there thisss for those who have actually been held in captivity gone through harrowing experiences like we see in whump the process of reintegrating into the world can be incredibly bleak especially in the first months or years after escape when they re dealing with the worst of their trauma especially when the life they had before seems so far out of reach and the isolation kicks in the world they re in now doesn t match the one they just survived actual recovery is slow and grinding and grey and hollow it doesn t happen overnight sometimes it feels like it will never will but eventually it does in little moments alone in the kitchen at 6am watching birds outside the window in the quiet company of strangers on the bus in little gleams of laughter that for only a moment feel like flashes of something you had before you were hurt in conversations that gradually become more effortless and more comfortable until you realize that for a few minutes you weren t faking your interest recovery isn t always walking out into the sunlight sometimes it s being awake through the night and slowly watching the dawn turn the sky into shades of silver and pink until at last at last you feel the very first gleams of daylight on your skin it s ups and downs that make you feel like you re slipping back into the grey and darkness but then the sunlight starts coming out more often inconsistent unpredictable until one day you look back and realize that it hasn t been dark for days recovery is not immediate moving on is vibe of it s all unfair earth clan the elcor ambassador calyn is cool as a cucumber and he s all chastising rebuke but i mean the discussion has valid points humans show up and it s pretty clear that they want and take the spectre status the seat on the council after me1 the c sec leadership later etc doing so they shake the status quo and we might say getting their seat on the council is deserved that they lost people and defended the galaxy to get it but it implies that other species haven t done things to deserve a seat in all those years humans haven t been on the scene also implies that something has to be done sacrifice death pain to deserve to have a voice in this galaxy which is just non democratic to me ambassadors have limited powers and non council species have no spectres among their members so i don t consider the council and the spectres as a fair system it s a system where some species are considered more superior than others we see how quarians are treated as well and so the humans being what they are take what they take and reveal the ugliness of the system in place and what everyone inside it fears i believe the volus fear what the humans reveal about their place in the galaxy they perceive the contempt council species have for them contempt they don t appear to have for humans volus are a species others can depend on for the stability of the galactic financial system but ultimately not seen as good enough on their own and never taken seriously enough to get a seat all that despite their history that is bound to create resentment but an individual like din korlack is not barla von turians have this relay incident with the humans so there is conflict already but i don t think they fear humans in general it s more that they re careful around them and some might feel superior or more angry than others i also think that salarians can be more scared of humans than asari but it s just a feeling i have based on what all of them say in the game still we saw that individuals humans with asari humans with salarians can create beautiful bonds between them i also think batarians scare everyone but they re probably a bit more scared of humans than they are of another species because the hate in my mind is linked to fear vorcha also tend to play tough guys but i think they re scared of everyone including humans and rightfully so because they re treated like shit by every species in the game meanwhile i don t believe krogan and quarians in general fear humans i mean sure i could say krogan view humans as squishy little things but on a more serious note i think both species just have a general distrust of everyone in the galaxy i also think elcor aren t scared but they can be cautious so those are general ideas but if a human from say cerberus shows up and starts doing crazy shit obviously fear will start to creep in even for a species who might not think human danger the same way that some members of species scare me more than most i would happily spend time with kirrahe and listen to his hold the line speeches but i wouldn t want to spend too much time with the dalatrass or those salarians on sur kesh doing their little experiments i also think some asari in the game despite their peaceful outlook can be quite scary i believe the oldest matriarchs from thessia aren t always nice and some spectres and justicars are
