life with our three girls skip to main skip to sidebar saturday july 14 2012 fun times at grandpa and grandma s house grandpa and grandma s house in hurricane has been the home of many fun memories for us the kids love it there what could be better than playing non stop with cousins never going to bed on time eating treats whenever you want and letting your imagination go to work all five girls made it through the nights sleeping sideways on the futon they spent a day at the pool and even the water didn t seem to cool them down much i guess when the temperature is 115 degrees there s not a whole lot you can do kourtney and aryn went to the temple one morning to do baptisms they learned some pretty cool facts about the st george temple while they were there i loved the dressing room sign they made and hung up in the backroom with two bathrooms and fifteen people your chances of finding it vacant are slim they got pretty creative as they made there own changing quarters once again grandpa and grandma are amazing the things they do at their age are marvelous the garden was on so grandma was in the middle of pickles chili sauce and tomatoes i have learned so many things from her she is amazing grandpa was out bright and early every morning bringing more in for grandma to bottle sometimes i wonder if grandpa even knows how to stop working that man is amazing he is such a hard worker and is always doing something one of my favorite things there is the fun we always have there is always a game of rook going on sometimes it scares me to play for fear i will be disowned if i screw the game up or don t play pointer cards at the right time jk it gets pretty competitive at times but always fun as i think about the many fun times we have had there it reminds me of the quote from pres hinckley in all of living have much fun and laughter life is to be enjoyed not just endured i think that sums it up pretty well there is a lot of fun and laughter at grandpa and grandma s house posted by the heaton s at 10 12 pm no comments friday july 13 2012 hike to kanarra falls while we were in hurricane teresa had the idea to hike to kanarra falls with the cousins i was a little nervous when the temperature read 98 degrees we don t hike that often as a family and we never have hiked in that kind of heat as we started out makell and i were holding hands she looked up at me and wasn t really sure if she could do it we spaced ourselves away from the others and quickly said a little prayer together that she would be able to do it and also have fun i quickly said my own prayer that her faith would grow as she exercised her faith her prayers were answered as that is all she can talk about now she really had fun i must say that it was the most beautiful hike we have ever done the creek saved us we followed the creek up and even walked in the creek for most of the way the water was cold on our feet and legs and made it feel pretty pleasant while hiking the girls loved every minute of it especially after we came to the creek our goal was to hike to the natural water slide so the kids could enjoy the water i have heard about the slot canyons before but have never experienced it it was better than i had imagined as you looked up you would then realize you were in the crevices of the canyon it was so beautiful i was so impressed with the little kids some of them were pretty small and we never heard a complaint makell was the first one of our kids to try the water slide she went down it and completely submerged herself under the water she was in shock as she popped up out of the ice cold water it had taken her breath away for a few moments it didn t stop her as she did it several more times adam was also brave as he gave it a try i decided i would be the official picture taker i was so glad adam and alex came with all of us moms and kids we relied on their muscles and strength as they helped lift and carry kids up and over the steep rocks and waterfalls there were times when it got a little scary as we were heading back home kaitlyn made the comment that hiking was really fun i m so glad they had fun just a few days prior i tried to get everyone to go hiking up the canyon close to where we live all the kids were not too interested i think maybe their idea about hiking has changed posted by the heaton s at 10 35 pm no comments monday july 9 2012 aladdin and tuacahn grandpa shawn and grandma kim took us to see aladdin at tuacahn it was awesome the special effects were some of the best we have seen the kids loved the 3d parts cousin aryn came with us i don t think these faces could have matched up more perfectly with theses characters kourtney the oldest and sometimes bossy stern and stubborn as her sisters would say always trying to make a deal with them kaitlyn the princess sneaks into the make up at times center of attention at home makell is the closest thing we have to having a boy the more ruff you are the more she likes it loves to get dirty and crazy at times sitting in the 98 degree temperature waiting for the play to start thank goodness for the misters too bad they didn t keep them on the whole time modeling the 3d glasses if you look close you will see the cable where the magic carpet with aladdin and jasmine flew right in front of us aladdin is now right up there with our favorite tuacahn performances posted by the heaton s at 7 59 pm no comments thursday july 5 2012 4th of july once again we spent the 4th of july watching fireworks and visiting with friends the kids played games and hung out with their friends by the time the fireworks are over and it s time to head home the kids are exhausted from all the running around it is always a quite ride home posted by the heaton s at 2 45 pm no comments wednesday july 4 2012 another fishing trip i guess we didn t get enough fishing in a few days ago and thought we should do it again this time we decided to take a quick little trip up to payson lakes it s fairly small but so beautiful i think the girls became more excited when we told them that they didn t have to get up so early to go it was all adam could do to keep up with the rest of us those fish were hungry it was a common thing to have at least two people with fish on their lines at the same time kaitlyn and i both had our poles out when we both got a hard bite kaitlyn started reeling in and and then my pole jerked really hard as i started to reel in kaitlyn s pole jerked really hard after we both reeled our lines in we noticed only one fish what i reached in and picked it up to see that the fish swallowed both of our hooks we had caught the same fish it was crazy adam would be working to get a hook out of a fishes mouth when someone would holler that they had another one for him to deal with the kids loved it once again adam did more unhooking then fishing kaitlyn caught the first fish again she reeled it in and when she saw the size of it said wow that is little is it a baby actually they were pretty good size fish she was comparing them to the fish at strawberry and ya there was really no comparison adam taught the girls how to cast and boy are they impressive at the end adam took off the hooks and left the bubble on so they could practice their casting technique even more they are sure good little fishermen we told kaitlyn that when adam retires we are going to spend all of our time fishing her response was oh geeze we told her we could either spend our time fishing or hanging out at her place when we are old she didn t say a word after that lol posted by the heaton s at 2 34 pm no comments monday june 25 2012 a sacrifice that pays off grammy great says that one of her enjoyments in life is to listen to the girls play songs on the piano for her the piano that sits in our living room was handed down from great herself about sixty years ago grammy great purchased the piano for 500 00 she was a working widow trying to make ends meet and raising three young children on her own she said it took her many months of saving to be able to purchase it my grandmother is one of the most frugal women i have ever know she has never had a lot of material things she has told us that throughout her life she has always had to ask herself this question when it came to purchasing something is it a want or a need she said 99 of the time she had to pass on things that she wanted in order to get by every month this piano was something she thought would benefit her home when she tells us about how she had to sacrifice for the piano it makes it even more special my mom played the piano and it was eventually given to her a few years ago my mother passed it to me so the girls could learn to play i love watching the enjoyment grandma has as she hears the girls play every time she comes the girls know that they have to play for her grammy will sit in the chair for as long as the girls will play for her the other day i went down to her house and brought her back here for a few hours she sat and listened to the music they played as i was watching her i noticed tears running down her cheeks i asked her if she was okay or if she needed anything she said to me i m fine listening to the girls makes the sacrifice that much more worth it she had me crying at that moment she always tells the girls to keep up with it and to practice hard i am so grateful for our girls in working hard to develop their talents and then using their talents to bring joy to others i love this picture posted by the heaton s at 2 24 pm no notice anything different about me she had rubbed a white powered doughnut all over her face i then asked her if she had gotten into the doughnuts without asking she looked at me and said nothing lol
