farraj didn t die deraa never happened ali and lawrence got married and adopted the boys and lived happily ever after desert husbands this film does things to me i love them so much it makes me sick lawrence of arabia t e lawrence ali ibn el kharish daud farraj 23 72 littlegentlewoman okay so as we all know elves are all immortal and immune to mortal illnesses and diseases such as the flu or common colds or the pox or autoimmune disorders or even chronic illnesses such as t2 diabetes epilepsy heart diseases blood pressure high or low and whatnot they re all never sniffly always spiffy blah blah blah whatever but what about the peredhil the half elves that are born of human elf relationships did they have the same problems of their mortal parents and if so what kind how did they know how did they adapt did they find solutions keeping in mind that some chronic illnesses weren t really known even back in old times elves never had these problems and their mortal partners are likely dead because of the difference in life spans so by the time their children barely reach fifty or so they re mostly gone those who didn t yet mostly have frail memories alzheimer s and even if not they most likely didn t know what chronic illnesses were back then so imagine you re an elf parent of a peredhel child said child is always thirsty frequently urinating constant hunger despite having just eaten always tired losing weight sudden cravings for sweet foods and having a foul temper at times at first it is perceived as behaviour inherited from mortals but then the child is shaking sweaty and hungry and they only settle down after luckily stumbling upon a honey cake or anything sweet it causes concern at first but then they forget about it because what can they do and the child got better anyway just a mortal thing right big mistake the child one day suddenly starts shaking again they break into cold sweat their skin grows pale they re dizzy confused and terribly hungry give them anything to eat a nearby fruit it helped last time not a good idea it s not enough the child keeps shaking they re confused and unresponsive then boom the child faints they re unconscious you don t know what to do you re terrified and you feel helpless and you think that you re gonna lose your child just like you lost their other parent you rush them to an elven healer curse the men and their stupid diseases along the way and live in absolute terror while the healer desperately tries to heal your child by sheer luck the child does wake but they re still terribly hungry and tired you bring the food they like a honey cake since all kids love sweets they devour it after a bit they become normal again albeit a bit fatigued and sleepy but they re awake again you notice a pattern you decide that they simply need sweets but that s not the case if they eat it everyday in big amounts they get headaches they urinate a lot they re tired and sleepy and you don t know what to do it s very rare to find another peredhel with the same conditions and when you do the symptoms and body reactions may vary after much concerns and much more research they come to find that even though it s a rare illness it s not nonexistent and among the mortals they find other undiagnosed people with the same problems they would later call it líslívë from lís meaning honey sweetness hlívë meaning disease sickness in quenya and líslhîw from lîs glî meaning honey lhîw meaning sickness disease in sindarin which means honey sickness diabetes they also apportioned the honey sickness into two two sections quenya líslívë minya honey sickness first and in sindarin it would be líslhîw minui quenya líslívë attëa honey sickness second and in sindarin it would be líslhîw tadui elven healers or noldo physicians would clinically tell them apart by evaluating how quickly the disease strikes the patient s body composition and specific diagnostic biomarkers because the classic symptoms extreme thirst polydipsia frequent urination polyuria and fatigue overlap perfectly between both types this is one of many other illnesses and disorders that are yet to be discovered i would also headcanon elrond as a type two diabetic developed at an early age caused by constant grief stress and chronic emotional strain from losing loved ones which is a proven risk factor for developing type two diabetes long term distress floods the body with stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline which raise blood sugar and drive insulin resistance over time also this is definitely not me
