but your heart and ur finger ingredients any kind of lentil preferably red one whole yellow onion or two shallots minced garlic lots the kind you get in a tub at the store olive oil premade pie crust i use the kroger store brand stuff its great feta cheese mushrooms if your feelin snazzy any kind of broth or stock i usually use beef bc good flavor with mushrooms spice i used dried herbs but absolutely use fresh if you can rock salt black pepper basil oregano onion powder one bay leaf thyme tools a saucepan to boil shit in a 9 inch pie pan use glass if you can tin foil a knife spatula oven stove a skillet to fry some shit okay now the steps 1 take ur onion shallots and mushrooms and mince them up it can be kinda chunky dont worry about it being uniform slosh some oil in a medium hot pan and let it heat up then add ur onion and about a heaping spoon and a half of minced garlic it should sizzle when it hits the pan once it smells rly good and people are asking what ur cooking add the mushrooms turn the heat down to low once you do 2 in ur saucepan pour how ever many lentils you think a cup is and then add some more cover with broth and fill pot to half past ur second knuckle on ur pointer finger put on medium heat and add ur spices after it starts to bubble make sure to season to taste and taste often 3 at this point you should have slightly less liquid in ur lentils and see thru onions add the skillet shit to the pot stuff and let it simmer till its a mush the lentils should be soft to the touch and to the taste boil off all the remainung broth and then remove from heat and mix in feta cheese an amount of which should be equal to one third of fully cooked lentils feel free to add more tho i always eyeball it bc i love feta also take out the bay leaf if you can find it 4 take ur pie pan and coat in oil and then roll out ur crust make sure its room temp before rolling put in pan then add filling more crust on top and wash in more oil cut some vents in the crust wrap the edges in tinfoil so they dont burn and bake for 40 ish min at 350 degrees or until golden brown 5 eat that shit up wait like 10 min tho so it can set after you take it out tada you made pie lemme know if you try it also the filling can be eaten on its own or with crackers or ontop spinach if ur into that the pie should keep for like a week in the fridge jewish microwave laser ppl are asking for my challah recipe and i m providing below challah 1 c warm water packet of yeast i just eyeball it from the jar 1 2 c white sugar 1 2 c vegetable oil 1 tbsp honey 2 1 2 tsp salt 2 eggs 4 c bread flour filling 1 5 c brown sugar 5 tbsp cinnamon dash of flour 2 tbsp ginger paste this is where your moisture comes from if it isn t wet enough you can add some neutral oil glaze 1 egg 1 tbsp water turbinado sugar optional add yeast to water with a little bit of sugar probably about a tsp and stir add all other ingredients other than flour for dough and then mix until incorporated add about 2c flour until you have to start kneading then slowly add the rest until it makes a ball and is less sticky if very sticky or too dry you can add flour water as needed should probably knead for about 5 10 minutes cover with a damp towel and put in a warm place for about an hour add time if needed but usually an hour works for me it depends on the temp make the filling while it s rising don t stress about the measurements just use your heart until you make a nice tasting paste take out and punch down dough let sit for 5 minutes so it ll be nicer when you re manipulating all the strands lhafrish challah goes here if you do that then divide in half take one and divide into 8 strands or however many you do for challah use a rolling pin to flatten the strands out you may have to take 5 min breaks if the dough stops behaving the more you work it the tougher it gets so sometimes you have to let it rest spread filling on top of the strands and then roll strands up like you re making little cinnamon rolls you ll probably have to use water to seal it up but don t stress too much use this method to make two braided loaves cover with damp towel again and let rise for 1 more hour preheat oven to 350ºf if you haven t already once risen glaze with egg water mixture sprinkle turbinado sugar if you want and or rest of the filling if you have
