three billy goats gruff but have we ever really thought about it really honestly ok so here it is there are these three piggish goats who have squandered every good thing on their side of the fence and think that maye life will be better on the other hill so they devise a plan to trick a poor old hungry little person out of his only means of income so the first a scrawny little shrimp of a goat tried to cross the bridge and we all know the story ends up being able to cross by hoodwinking the supposed evil troll and so on and so forth well when we get to the big billy goat gruff what do we find body builder billy goat crossing the bridge so what is the troll supposed to do let him go he already let two other goats go by and he has kids under bridge to feed after all so he tried to collect the toll after all even goats deserve to pay their dues then that no good steroid packed farm animal throws the poor troll over the bridge when the police get their who are they goin to believe are they going to believe the hideously ugly bearded wife and thirty nauseatingly reoulsive children or the upright handsome goat who works out regularly keeps the towns lawns trim and empties the dump if you look at it politically the short guy really didn t have a chance the police label him as a desparate jumper seeking escape from an impossibly difficult situation the media plays him off as a bad guy when in reality he was just like everyone else a normal guy trying to earn a buck the moral of the story is don t underanalyze the effect of the media on your perceptions of the 2010 vacation so we recently returned from what turned out to be a rather tumultuous vacation we traveled to mt rushmore which i have to say i was a little disappoinnted with it was very cool to see the presidents faces call me old fashioned but i am one of those people who likes to see things finished with the exception of house projects of course i love having all those unfunished just for those of you who were wondering it just seemed sloppy to have these half finished faces up on a mountain being called complete then we visited the corn palace palace palace palace palace palace that was an echo by the way hint to those interested in going take pictures from the car and keep driving however while i sound like i am being a whiner and let s face it i am a little bit i fully endorse visitingthese and other such kitschy tourist locales the kids had a blast seeing the places they thought they were the bees knees i am in sort of a funny mood tonight and can t be held fully responsible for the loopy things that may pour forth from my keyboard then we headed north for a week that promised sun sand and relaxation we had almost none of those things it started raining almost as soon as we got there mid week we found out that allen s father had passed away so he flew home to plan the funeral and after we were finished up north we met him in madison before proceeding south to have the funeral in benton wisconsin we cannot say that there was no sun though and there was plenty of sand and bugs and i had lots of fun tubing and cruising on the boat with larry and bev i do love the temperate weather of the north and stargazing so i did a little enjoyed a bit of those things just without allen i realized that i love love riding around on the lakes that is possibly my favorite part of going north anyway we finally got to utah about two days later than we expected and had lots of fun seeing everyone at the reunion it is so great to get everyone together so hopefully hey all i have been getting these baskets with assorted fruits and veggies that i normally wouldn t buy because i don t know how to use them so in my search for recipes here are some good ones i have found bok choy salad 1 2 c salad oil 1 4 c rice vinegar 1 3 c brown sugar 3 tb soy sauce 1 tb sesame oil 2 bunches bok choy 1 bunch green onions chopped craisins to taste chow mein noodles to taste pm 0 comments labels afton labor pictures sunday january 3 2010 belated baby pictures so i have been made aware that the people of the world are highly offended that i have been so negligent of my duty to inform them about the birth of our latest child cough megan cough hehehe i really have no excuse except that i have just been having so much fun mothering and loving the new little one and her adorable sisters that i haven t found the time to update our blog so here we go afton paige was born on december 17th after about a million hours of labor she weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds 9 ounces and 20 inches long we had originally hoped to deliver her naturally after our my previous c sections however we found that to be was an unrealistic hope after that billion hour labor we referred to earlier it was apparent that little afton simply didn t want to come out the way nature intended for her to and we ended with another c section however the experience was much different than previous c sections the nurses allowed me to hold the baby while i was being put back together and i carried her with me as we went into the recovery room the doctor let me see her as he pulled her out so i could feel more connected to the situation i highly recommend summerlin hospital for anyoe who wants an amazing birth experience btw so while i did not get the birth that i wanted i did get the end result i desired to hold and bond with baby immidiately and feel very blessed to finally feel completely at peace with my birth experience here are some pictures from the delivery i will halloween pictures yeah i know they are so late but thats how it goes being a perfectionist without any time to do a good enough job allen is a mad scienist and emma and i are his experiments i am
