recap we have celebrated our 3rd anniversary bought a whole bunch o baby stuff picked carved a pumpkin had a boro baby shower gone to the fair had an atl baby shower and enjoyed thanksgiving down south fall is one of our favorite times of year anyway but obviously this year it has been even better than usual we re thankful for all the family and friends who have made it extra special posted by in our comfy clothes as a soon to be family of fittingly three while we were eating we were talking about being at our reception about that time three years ago then our first dance song randomly came andrew s annual work retreat for the last two years we ve gone to barnsley gardens in adairsville but this year they switched it up and took us to the brasstown valley resort in young harris the camera stayed in my bag for the most part and even if i had taken any pictures on saturday all you would have seen was pouring rain sunday was a beautiful clear and cool day though so we stopped at an overlook on the way out we had a fun time as usual and andrew even enjoyed his first ever spa day i managed to sustain an injury at the spa myself psa sharp manicure tools can be dangerous ansley ago we are waaay behind on blogging for obvious reasons but we still wanted to do a little recap of our beach trip last month we went down to amelia island again this year and were lucky enough to be able to go for a whole week since the south has been inundated with rain all summer we went prepared to do indoor activities just in case we did not have to somehow we ended up with ideal weather not too hot sun with a few clouds for shade and only a thunderstorm here and there the omni resort where we always stay had totally redone the pool area since we were there last year it did not disappoint we made it to the pool pretty early on monday morning and got a great spot under a big umbrella this big pool is right next to the beach so you get the scenery of the ocean with the comforts and conveniences of the pool conveniences like chair side service one of the renovation upgrades was the addition of little numbered flags to each beach chair you just put up your flag when you wanted to order something and a waiter would come right over it felt a little over the top but as you can see we got over it and then we confused the poor college age waiter since he couldn t figure out why someone would want a cocktail with no actual alcohol in it they also added a lunch restaurant at the edge of the pool with a nice ocean view you really never have to leave the pool area for anything behold the impressive body in andrew s hair post swim that first afternoon there did end up being a pop up thunderstorm so we headed back to the condo mid afternoon what a coincidence that mid afternoon is the perfect nap time at the beach we ate at one of the restaurants on the omni plantation and enjoyed the giant moon on our way back it was too much for my little camera the next day we headed back out to the pool for more of the same since we knew the weather could switch up on us at any time we made it a point to go ahead and enjoy all the pool and beach time we could the water was much prettier than i remembered it while we were there we also took this picture which i am sure you ve already seen we had some curious onlookers wondering what we were writing in the sand and taking pictures of from every angle too bad for them we used our feet to erase the evidence before we walked away of course we needed to take a mini bump on the beach picture too after our day in the sun we decided to head off resort for dinner in downtown fernandina we are big fans of the crab trap in st simons and even contemplated making a trip to the real one while we were relatively close but they have one in fernandina too and even though it is decidedly not the same it was close enough and you can t make a trip to downtown fernandina for dinner without stopping at the ice cream and fudge shop afterwards i stopped taking many pictures at this point in the week because we were just doing the same old same old enjoying the pool beach food naps rinse repeat i might get in trouble for posting this picture but if you have to take a work call at least it s better to take it as you eat lunch by the ocean right one thing that did give us a good laugh was what we came back to after lunch on this day i had brought along a bag of annie s cheddar bunnies which had been specially purchased for snacking by the pool apparently they weren t hidden well enough in my bag because a pesky black bird came along while we were at lunch and helped himself he pecked open the bag and then dragged it onto the ground he s lucky that he and all his friends looked exactly alike making it impossible for me to identify the perp don t mess with my snacks these days but if you do obviously i will just go get ice cream at the market instead we stayed on the plantation again that night and had a casual dinner at the falcon s nest it was pretty unremarkable except for two things 1 andrew put one direction on the digital jukebox as a surprise joke yes i like them what of it and the volume at which it played could only be described as deafening 2 we saw the one and only bobby cox there we didn t bother him since he was obviously enjoying a relaxing dinner on vacation too but we got a kick out of seeing him disclaimer due to the unreal humidity i had given up on my hair entirely by this point we did take a pool beach break the next day to rest work on a puzzle we brought and play some putt putt i ve already lost track of what day this was thursday the mini golf course was another addition to the resort when they revamped the pool area our beach week was also the week that royal baby mania was at a fever pitch prince george was born while we were there and i was that person trolling twitter via the pool wi fi waiting on all the updates throughout the week so we thought this info sign on one of the holes was apropos this was a fun activity until about halfway through the back nine let s just say it was a little warm out that night it was back to downtown fernandina for our annual trip to 29 south i m pretty sure this was our fourth dinner there and as i ve documented before andrew gets the sweet tea brined pork chop every time we skipped the ice cream parlor this night because we also always get the same dessert at 29 south coffee and doughnuts doughnut bread pudding baked in a coffee mug topped with mocha ice cream since i ve been without coffee for months now i made a special vacation exception for this one we spent our last full day back at the pool with more perfect weather i m not sure how we got so lucky in the midst of such a rainy unpredictable summer but we did not take it for granted that night we had a casual dinner at barbara jean s another st simons favorite on the marsh and sadly started packing up all of our stuff we re pretty sure pinterest sunday july 14 2013 some flat rock fun as some of you probably noticed the blog has been on a bit of a hiatus for the past few weeks but that only came after a june full of get togethers and getaways one of those was a three day weekend trip to the asheville area to celebrate the 40th wedding anniversary of my grandparents jack and joanne we have a large blended family scattered throughout the country so we all took the opportunity to stage a mini family reunion as well we had a great time not only visiting with relatives we hadn t seen in awhile but meeting some members of the family for the first time too we visited downtown hendersonville both to catch up and to relive some of our favorite memories together and now courtesy of the picturesque kenmure country club in
