e we want to understand why we are getting those answers or want to see what would happen if we act sometimes we hold off on acting because we are scared or don t know what the outcome will be so we are hesitant to do anything sometimes all we want to do is the right thing but have such a hard time distinguising between that and our own emotions or maybe we struggle with having the courage to act on the answers we receieve because of our own desires or an unseen outcome we walk through life blind to the outcome of our actions sometimes but god has promised us blessings as we follow the spirit we are required to act and then receive ether 12 6 says that ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith asking is the easy part but acting is where our faith is truly tested do we believe that god will bless us if we follow him are we willing to do what in our hearts we feel is right and set aside our own selfish carnal desires do we believe that his blessings are better than the immediate gratification or results that we know will come from following our own desires as life goes on and satan continues to pull at me from every direction i have to remind myself to act in faith acting may even mean believing and accepting the peace he brings during trials trusting that those feelings of peace and the answers and promptings received will in fact come about or trusting may ever have posted by ashley lamb at 11 57 am 1 comments saturday august 22 2009 peace for a princess lately i ve been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster what s new right it s a long and complicated story but involves a boy one i care a lot about amidst the confusion doubt and uncertainty of everything going on there is one place i have found peace on the matter the temple i love the temple every time i have gone especially in the past couple of weeks i ve gone in with a heavy burden weighing on me and always left feeling lighter more peaceful about everything going on i feel love and a comfort knowing that everything will be alright what exactly that means i don t know but i do know that i will be okay whatever happens god has not forsaken me yet and never will i still pray the outcome is in my favor but know that if it isn t heavenly father somehow has to have something better in store which is hard to imagine the other day i was contemplating some of the things going on in my life and i was thinking about all the many blessings that my heavenly father has given me that i am so undeserving of i was so happy and felt so spoiled i was also contemplating on the future blessings that he promises me like eternal marriage and family wondering when that day would come and if i could have this fairytale ending like i d always wanted as i was thinking of these things an overwhelming sense of love came over me i felt my heart begin to pound my throat get tight and tears welled up in my eyes and poured down my cheeks i then heard a voice you are my princess daughter of a king all the hard times you ve been through have only prepared you for the very best better than you could have dreamed you will have your fairytale ending because you deserve it and because i love you when that ending or beginning to a new chapter of my life will come and who my prince will be i do not know but i know it he will come i have to keep reminding myself that in the lonely dark doubtful and heart wrenching moments and have to remember the feelings i ve had in the temple and the peace and answers he has given me and trust that the lord knows what he s doing and will continue to guide my life and the lives of loved ones around me i pray for the courage and faith to obey especially in those times when it s hard to do so and pray that others around me will follow those promptings as well i pray that my prince will come someday soon and sweep me off my feet however if he does not come soon i pray that i will enjoy the time my heavenly father has given me and do the here i am sitting in my cave my cave is my dark corner of cubicle at work my system is down and really i can t complain because even though i have a ton of students to call and reprimand for not attending class it s friday and i d much rather blog about my inability to work so now that i ve gotten that out of the way life it s funny it s fun it s interesting and sometimes you never know what to expect from it so lately i have decided to not expect anything from it it s been an interesting viewpoint to take on one that i haven t really had in a long time or maybe even ever i think what is so hard about life is that we build up expectations in our head of how our lives should pan out and when life doesn t meet our expectations we are crushed this is kind of a natural thing especially for those of us who are planners we make plans for our lives and do what we can to execute those plans to our desired outcome but when plans don t go the way we expect them to in some way we think we have failed was it something that we did wrong or didn t do right i can tell you firsthand that my life hasn t met any of my expectations and while i have definitely had my disappointing moments when i look at the overall outcome my life has far exceeded my expectations so my expectations are out the window and have been replaced by my new friends hope and faith hope and faith that each day i can wake up and find miracles and blessings in even the small things that the plans i have for my life will become reality and that if they don t and i am living the best i can everything will work out the way god has intended it s interesting what can happen when you give up on expectations and simply believe that god is in control and that what comes into our lives is even better than any soapbox and faith i have much to be grateful for something i have realized time and time again in the last few months is just how blessed i am even amidst the trials my heavenly father is so aware of what i m going through and what my needs are he s never left me alone no matter how much i might feel that way at times and always uses every experience i go through to teach me more about his ways and how i can come closer to him i continually learn just how little i do know but just how much he really does love me and wants me to grow and improve continually i am so undeserving of all that he has given me i am so flawed and have so many things that i need to continually improve upon yet he loves me and continues to bless me i would love to be married and having a family however he has blessed me with more time to myself so i look forward to enjoying it to the fullest and utilizing this time the best i can i was reading in ether the other day chapter 12 such a great chapter on faith as i read it i realized just how much this time of my life is that trial of my faith so many things around me and recent experiences would make me believe that the things i really want to enjoy in life like marriage for example are impossible soapbox everywhere i go i continually cease to be impressed by the men that i meet i don t think i have unrealistic expectations either i am simply looking for honorable priesthood holders who are respectful of others magnifies their calling and are goal oriented ambitious and hardworking it seems like a lot of the guys i meet simply just don t care they don t care about educating themselves they work dead end jobs and just like to hang out and play with their friends and they have no intentions of seeking marriage any time soon i don t see a lot of these guys taking their priesthood duties seriously almost treating it as a formality instead of the important responsibility that it truly is it can be a little discouraging now this isn t to say that there aren t any good ones out there its just that its been a while since i ve found one and even then it just didn t work out anyway end of soapbox the evidence is against me and satan thrives off me getting discouraged and losing hope yet i need to have the faith that the lord can make anything happen so even facing the facts i must continue in faith hoping and believing that with the lord all things are possible even when they are seemingly impossible ether 12 6 i would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen wherefore dispute not because ye see not for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith so i must continue to hope and hold on disputing not someday i will receive a witness of the trial of my faith someday a miracle
