consume media before the internet content was consumed from print such as magazines newspapers videos were consumed through television there was no such thing as youtube in this age the digital age we enter whatever we want to know into google and googles algorithm provides us with the most valuable source of content and information that we want to know social media also has a huge effect on how we consumed content the ability to share content with our friends has opened up a social aspect to content consumption that we would regularly not be interested in the discovery process has changed and now incorporates browsing social media for news and trends this process doesn t only keep us updated but allows us to interact the balance of power means that one power comes from media concentration and the other comes from collective intelligence pop culture is drawn from fan culture which is how social and political issues become discussed people only want to pay attention to media and pop culture a bottom up momentum would be how media companies learn to make media flow faster allowing users to learn how to use these medias and interact with others posted on may 1 2015 by askangela tagged jenkins 3 comments reflection on my groups creative process my group has conducted a lot of research on mock interviews to find ways in which we can make our mock interview video the best that it can be for example for our last blog post we searched interview movie scenes to see how they filmed certain angles when each person was talking examples like these have helped our creative process two big milestones that we have accomplished are creating a script for our main scene which is the interview to complete this milestone we had to conduct research and use our previous interview experience on what questions the interviewer should be asking our interviewee some questions include what are your strengths and why do you want to work for this company in order to answer these questions for the good interview portion of our video we researched the best ways to answer these types of questions that will leave the interviewer satisfied the second milestone we reached was beginning to film our video one hurdle i anticipate we will be reaching soon is having access to an office space on campus an office space may not be available at the specific times my group members can film i believe in this type of situation my group members and i will have to communicate effectively and really figure out ways that we can squeeze filming our video into our busy academic schedules the second hurdle i anticipate we will be facing soon is editing our video i know that not everyone in my group has experience in editing and we all seem to be intimated by it but i believe it we all effectively work together we can pool our existing knowledge of editing that we have been taught in class to edit our video to the best of our ability digital tools such as the creative commons search engine have helped us in deciding what media we can and cannot use imovie is going to help our creative process when we have to narrate our mock interview imovie will also help us time our narration with our scenes easily our original storyboards opening scene was a bit abrupt in that there was no introduction and it went straight into our interviewee conducting research about the company they were going on an interview for after receiving feedback from our professor that this scene may confuse our audience we decided that our opening scene should be the interviewee waking up and we would then narrate their thoughts on how they should prepare for their interview posted on april 15 2015 by askangela tagged final interview mock project leave a comment three pieces of media the image i have chosen displays a man that is dressed professionally and is going on an interview this picture can be used for my video because it also uses arrows to point at the male s attire to show each aspect of his presence that is allowing him to look professional such as a trimmed haircut clean shaved warm smile feel of confidence and firm handshake i can use this information in my video by incorporating those in the scene where my group shows what not to wear and what to wear to an interview the movie i have chosen is the wedding singer because it contains an interview scene i believe i can use this video as a way to help me get a better idea of what angles our mock interview should be filmed at it was interesting to see how certain angles switched depending on who was talking i do not want our video to just stay at one angle because to me that would be boring i can also use the interview portion of this movie as an example of what not to do on an interview adam sandler was sarcastic and arrogant which are two things someone definitely does not want to be during an interview i wasn t sure what song to choose to incorporate in my video because there will be a lot of narration and i don want the viewer to have difficulty reading our narration with music going on the background i ended up choosing a song that can be background music and has no words i can use this song as background music during scenes such as when my group shows what an interviewee should and should not wear to an interview image https www google com url sa i rct j q esrc s source final interview mock project 3 comments after creating our storyboard i believe everyone in my group had the same thoughts on what we wanted to accomplish in our mock interview video so creating our storyboard was rather easy the storyboarding step was really helpful in that it allowed us to get all of our thoughts and ideas out on to paper our group took a different alternative in that we drew each part of our mock interview i believe drawing our pictures allowed us to incorporate more detail to each scene compared to creating drawings on the internet for example in the research step of our video we added a coffee mug to make the scene seem more realistic storyboarding allowed us to physically see things that we should incorporate or things that should be left out at first i didn t believe storyboarding would be necessary but it actually turned out to be a huge help as of now i do not believe there is anything else we can add to our project but i am almost positive that as we start filming our video we are going to run into scenarios where we may have to change certain scenes as well as add or remove certain things from our video the ultimate vision for this project is to create an informative yet comical video posted on april 3 2015 april 3 2015 by askangela tagged creative final project storyboard vision 3 comments personal thoughts and creative direction for storyboard my group has chosen mock interview for our final project for our final project i envision our video of a mock interview to be both informative and comical to start of i see the beginning of our video starting with the scene of the interviewee doing research about the company he or she is going on an interview for the next scene should include what to wear and what not to wear on for an interview i believe we can make this scene comical in that we can show a ridiculously unprofessional outfit that should never be worn to an interview then make it informative by showing the correct and professional outfit that should be worn to an interview the next scene would involve the interviewee looking over their resume to make sure they know all the information that they have provided the main and most important scene can be the actual interview making a video of a good interview and a bad one following it would be a great idea the last and final scene can provide feedback about what went wrong in the interview and what went well i intend to reflect what i envision in the story board by sharing it with my group members and trying to incorporate as much detail into our drawings as we can posted on march 31 2015 march 31 2015 by askangela tagged board final group project story leave a comment group project using google doc google docs is a great tool to use for group projects it makes collaborating with all group members extremely easy the best aspect of google docs is that everyone has access to the doc at the same time and has the ability to work together the chat function is also convenient because it helps group members organize what they want to put on the google doc and in which way the first step my group took in starting this project was exchanging phone numbers we started a group chat and exchanged our emails through the group chat one person then started a google doc and shared the doc with all of our group members once we all had access to the page we used the chat function to discuss which problem we wanted to focus our project on the last two steps we took were answering all of the questions we were assigned and then we shared our google doc with our professor posted on march 30 2015 by askangela tagged doc google group project leave a comment top five midterm blogs diary of a pr girl the first thing i enjoyed about this blog was the layout because it was organized and easy to navigate through i really enjoyed how the colors and pictures incorporated in erica s blog were bold and bright as i watched the video portion of this blog i also got to learn a great deal about erica her accomplishments are pretty impressive she also presented her information in a way that made the video interesting not boring the last thing that allowed erica s blog to stand out from others was that she included links within her text this was a smart feature to add to get her readers to learn more about her work without having to physically write it on her blog https diaryofapublicrelationsgirl wordpress com college diy the topic of this blog was extremely creative and directed towards a very specific audience one of the coolest aspects of college diy was the video created it was a great idea to use software that allowed viewers to see a 3d image of how they can organize their dorm room college diy was also very informative in that it introduced me to websites such as pbteen com that i have never heard of i also enjoyed the post labeled dorm diy making a dorm feel comfortable with aspects from your home is really important to avoid getting home sick incoming college students that are dorming will most definitely find this blog useful https collegediy101 wordpress com caroline habib the main thing i enjoyed about this blog was the theme my life through pictures and words it was really awesome that caroline took photos of her adventures and posted captions under them the quality of her photos is also great which makes her blog look extremely professional i also enjoyed caroline s video in which she gives an explanation of why she takes so many pictures it allowed me to gain insight on why i should take more pictures https carolinehabib wordpress com buns for days the topic of this blog was very different compared to other blogs in our class which is why i chose to put it in my top five favorite blogs it was a great idea to post burgers from restaurants along with their ingredients so people can make the same burgers at home i also liked how you provided the location of the restaurant the margarita burger is from so readers can go and try the burger out for themselves the video aspect of this blog was comical which added humor to this blog https bunsfordays wordpress com how to drive like a moron the topic of this blog was extremely creative and its name caught my attention immediately the main reason i enjoyed this blog was because of its videos he did a really great job at capturing the terrible drivers that are out on the roads the captions that are included in the inaugural video do a great job at pointing out what viewers should be getting ready to see or what they should be looking for the fact that his video wasn t shaky and had the perfect lighting was awesome https almrutgersmidterm wordpress com posted on march 25 2015 march 25 2015 by askangela tagged blogs creative five midterm top 3 comments my midterm blog creative process i have always wanted to create my own fashion blog so being given the opportunity to create a blog for my midterm was awesome blogging is huge part of the fashion world and chances are if you have a career in fashion you have a blog there are thousands of fashion blogs so i knew i had to make my blog stand out in someway the first step in the creative process of my blog was conducting research i needed to inform myself of what the average fashion blog consisted of i found that most blogs recreated outfits that were worn by celebrities however their recreated outfits were still expensive and when i say expensive i mean the average middle class person could not afford them i used this information and decided to direct my blog towards a specific audience college students the main goal i wanted to achieve in my blog was to take expensive designer looks whether they were from the runway or were featured on celebrities and recreate them using clothes that college students can afford i believe this was a really creative way to make my blog stand out from other fashion blogs recreating and replicating outfits requires a great amount of creativity because i was only limited to the clothes i owned being limited to a certain amount of clothes required me to think outside the box on how i could put those pieces together to create the same illusion of designer or celebrity looks another creative thing i included in my blog were gifs gifs are image files that are compressed to resemble a video i took pictures of each outfit i recreated at multiple angles on my model and placed them together to display a 360 degree view i really enjoyed creating this blog because it allowed me to express my fashion creativity posted on march 24 2015 march 25 2015 by askangela tagged collegechic creative fashion midterm leave a comment editing video my experience with screen casting was a little difficult
