experience i truly enjoyed especially in terms of story narrative storytelling and characters i ve always been a big fan of games where you can choose dialogues build relationships with other characters in different ways and make decisions that can lead to big or small changes for me the first masquerade game was really good in all those aspects however when it comes to gameplay and performance the game was sometimes a mess it was clear that the first game had a lot of problems during development at times it felt incomplete yet you could still see its potential from the very beginning now this second game is also good in all the areas where the first one stood out the investigation and mystery elements are very intriguing and interesting and everything related to the camarilla and the different clans makes for very enjoyable lore maybe we expected more from the game in this regard too mainly because of the long development time and i m not gonna lie the trailers showed us a much more interesting game and characters but still this second game is good without being excellent in the aspects where the first one shone regarding the gameplay i ve been having mixed feelings the game doesn t have boring mechanics in battles or exploration but they are still quite simple sometimes the combat feels a bit empty and the exploration as well the boss battles are entertaining and if you combine certain powers the combat can feel acceptable too now let s talk about the big problems here first the game doesn t have manual saving which is a joke for a game in 2025 and this is a bad honestly horrible decision we need to save at specific moments because maybe we have something important to do in real life or maybe we need to wake up early the next day you know have some consideration we gamers also have a life and second this is a game with different clans and different dialogue choices and players of these kinds of games like replaying different routes with different builds and powers we like having multiple save files and at least two characters even though this game doesn t reach the level of mass effect to give one example in terms of choices or dialogue the idea of a game with all these characteristics not having manual saves is insane and it makes the game lose a lot of potential but that s not the only big problem here this game has awful performance and believe me i am a very tolerant guy when it comes to performance issues bugs or whatever if a game is a masterpiece like silent hill 2 remake even if it has some performance problems i will still give it 5 stars as i did but the stuttering in this game is too annoying i had to install a mod just to make the game run in an acceptable way anyway the game is intriguing in terms of story characters and narrative even if i expected better quality considering its foundations and the long development time the gameplay is acceptable but a bit boring and the issues it has forget everything about it i love me some machinery well not really i have a crazy fear of most machines being near me especially in animatronic form and especially especially submerged in water you can imagine the horror i faced when i played through the first couple games and realized the common theme here was machinery doing some fuck shit no seriously i genuinely contemplated dropping this to go play some other horror game that has less nightmare fuel for me but i stuck it out you re welcome now here are my brief thoughts on each mini game at least as much as i can remember the other side was a little bit of a let down less of a horror game more of just a job simulator though i will say i essentially shat my pants a little when the timer popped up on screen the tension in not knowing if you d finish in time though if you did the math geometrically on how many cuts would be needed to open the door based on how many error messages you receive it s kinda easy to tell you re defo gonna make it was quite exhilarating and made for some nice oh jesus christ moments when you accidentally misclick a gas cap or can t screw in bolts fast enough not horrible not fantastic control room alpha was like a warm hug from my homeland as someone who was born and raised in australia big spiders aren t really a thing that gets me all weak kneed those buggers were my friends not foes this one was also like 5 seconds long to beat so really not much here carbon steel had some of the best atmospheric design and sound of the bunch it really wasn t all too scary though i kinda had fun just kinda felt like i clocked into my job but someone left most of the lights off and there was an unnatural humming in the back the entire time also there were floppy disks in this that s pretty cool concrete tremor was definitely the most scary one yet and definitely the most scary game of battleship i ve ever played the horror truly comes from the chilling dialogue you and your opponent share as well as the really cool art and atmosphere not much else to say go play this one on its own if you really had to choose only one of these games from the anthology tartarus engine had a very similar guise to the other side but i think it did it better there was a more subtle way of introducing the pressure of a time limit rather than chucking a timer on screen and i think adding more of a story onto it made the experience have a lot more intrigue the music also had me dead near panicking most of the time seriously fuck whoever composed that shit you re actually evil mike klubnika clearly has
