profile blog archive 2008 2 march 1 it s a boy february 1 2007 2 december 2 monday march 3 2008 it s a boy well all sign s point to a boy we had our 21 week sonogram and the doc says it a boy i will post the pictures as soon as i get a chance we also did a video of the sonogram so i am going to try and get it online too conner garett barbee is what we are thinking of naming him but we haven t decided 100 yet hunting fishing football and golf i can t hardly wait posted by current at 11 17 am 1 comment tuesday february 5 2008 first oh no whats wrong so we had our second visit to the doctor and kara had to have some more tests run we were also going to get to hear the heart beat i was really excited and couldn t wait because so many men say that hearing the heart beat for the first time is such an emotional experience we got done will the test and it was time to listen i was on the edge of my seat a few minuteds went buy and i didn t hear anything and i could tell the doctor was starting to get a little ansy she started pushing harder and moving around alot more what is going on the doctor said she could hear something but it wasn t the heart beat by that time i was out of the chair and right next to the doctor thinking what can i do the doctor tells us she is imapatient and wants to go have a look so we got another sonogram out of the deal and the baby is fine thank god but i still haven t heard the heart beat i feel like a kid the week before christmas i can see the presents under the tree but cant see what the actual gift is and i don t think kara would appreciate me holding her in the air and shaking her vigourously oh well maybee next time posted by current at 1 50 pm no comments wednesday december 19 2007 first appointment with the doc so most parenting books that you buy we have about three so far but i do most of my reading online say that a fathers role these days is much more than setting in the waiting room and waiting anxiously with a box of cigars in hand i agree completely with this i intend to be there every step of the way i have a very understanding boss and he is ok with me making most of the appointments of course i don t go for every prick and in this cup but i plan on being there for all of the important visits or when kara thinks i should be there and some where she doesn t think i should be i looked around the lobby and saw some happy faces on my male counterparts and some not so happy faces the not so happy faces where not mad or disappointed but you could tell they were a bit frustrated and felt out of place our doctor s office for example did not have any magazines that were for men they were all for women and pregnant women at that i don t mind flipping through a pregnancy magazine and reading an article or two but joe bob redneck or hippity hop hoodrat do not want to read those things i would suggest some men s health sports hunting or even a father s magazine for the guys to look at as they feel completely out of place in all other aspects of the visit all in all the visit was extremely pleasant the doctor answered all of my questions and actually acknowledged my existence which made me feel good about using her everything looked good and the baby was clearly alone in its temporary home which i imagine was a relief to kara who was a bit intimidated about the thought of twins we have another visit in mid january where we might get to hear the heartbeat which is supposedly the first really emotional moment for the father i think it is going to be hard to top my deer blind moment but we will see the doc confirmed that the due date is around july 20th so that is what we are putting on the calendars kara is doing great she has yet to have any significant signs of morning sickness which i a extremely happy about i have a weak stomach when it comes to that sort of thing she is not showing yet but of course she says she is getting fatter i smile and reassure her that it is just her imagination because i sure haven t noticed anything yet i sure do love her and she has just glowed the last few weeks which makes me so very happy posted by current at 1 42 pm no comments going to be a what so as most of you know i am an avid whitetail deer hunter i spend as much time as possible in the field hunting this elusive critter that fry s so well i am a bow hunter so here in texas we get to start hunting in september hot i am sweating profusely when i get a text message from kara i think i m pregnant not really the way i imagined being told i was soon to be responsible for a life but it was effective none the less i suddenly felt like i had a whole apple in my throat and i must admit sweat was suddenly not the only liquid running down my face i called kara as soon as i gathered my composure and needless to say i was no longer hunting i was celebrating in the woods kara and i married in july and both decided we wanted children soon because we i am getting close to thirty and think it might be a little difficult to toss a football around while using a walker ok maybe that is a bit extreme but mom and dad were done having kids by the time they were my age some people argue that you should wait several years after you are married before you have children but i think if you know your spouse is the one for you it doesn t hurt anything to have children sooner so this is my first blog post and i am going to try and keep it updated every week i am mainly doing this blog for friends and family but also think it might be a good place for me to post things that
