becker paths skip to main skip to sidebar becker paths friday june 11 2010 we have a litte fighter we have a little fighter in our family allison has proved to us that she is a tough little girl a long while back i didn t write about it before i made sure everything was alright like 4 months ago time stopped for us and our world was turned upside down five days after we had arrived to ecuador from new york allison started throwing up all the milk that she was fed almost instantly at first it was one bottle a day then two a day in a few days she didn t hold anything inside at first the doctors thought it was a severe case of acid reflux but as things got worst exams were done and it was discovered that she had the dreaded pyloric stenosis as soon as this was discovered she was scheduled for surgery it was one of the most terrifying moment as they took her away from us and into the o r of our lives but luckily the surgery only lasted loooooonnnnggg 45 minutes that week simply put was the hardest one of our lives from the moment she began throwing up until surgery was done we barely slept or even thought about anything else gratefully we say that everything is back to normal thanks god we are very grateful for this little wondrous miracle in our lives as we went through all that we were blind to see all the blessings we were being given but now we know how much the lord helped us through all this experience first my mom was here to help us with francesca we only had to concentrate on allison daniel has very understanding bosses that told him to take all the time he needed almost closed eye not knowing much about the doctors here we chose a surgeon for the operation we were really worried as doctors down here don t have good reputations we didn t know much about the surgeon until after the surgery when people began asking who the surgeon was we were told that he was one the best pediatric surgeon in the country i now know that the lord was watching over us the whole time he provided us with his blessing so that we can overcome this trial now our baby allison is pretty healthy she has such a big appetite she quickly gained back her birth weight and doubled it without any trouble now she is developing like a normal 4 month old baby if you see her you wouldn t suspect that any surgery was performed on her she acts as if nothing ever happened we are so grateful with the lord that was one of the hardest moment of my life we are so proud of allison for overcoming her little problem and surpassing her doctors expectations this is a picture of years ago she came into our lives since then our lives have been filled with non stop joy she came into this world with big open eyes ready to explore the world around her and hasn t stop since she is learning so fast and sometimes surprises us with the new things she comes up with she is so smart sweet and kind i have learned so much from her we are so grateful she choose us as her parents happy little a lot late but i still tought i should post it here is a picture of her now posted by nicole at 1 48 am 0 comments new york january was quite a month initially it was supposed to be a fun filled errand running time in new york francesca and i arrived to new york when the clock hit midnight on new years the plane landed right before midnight and we had a mini new years count down at laguardia airport it was a bittersweet moment i was happy and excited to be back in new york to be reunited with some dear friends and to be back in my environment but at the same time it was so sad to be away from daniel in new years it was our first new years apart from each other in over 5 years at the end of it all everything turned out great but there were times that we were a little worried about how things would turn out thankfully we have wonderful friends in ny that helped things run smoothly we had a great time in ny new york was our home for a month and a half we went sight seeing something we didn t do that much when we lived there we simply tried to enjoy new york whenever we could here are some pictures of our stay reunited with old nursery friends hanging out at the library 16 am 0 comments monday march 15 2010 california the last two weeks of december of 2009 were the most amazing weeks san diego white sandy beaches 60 degree weather sun and family sounds more like a paradise to me in simple words we had a great time we spent much needed time with family had date nights had family dinners went to the parks malls zoos and every open space where we could enjoy the wonderful weather the best part of it all i was able to spend time with daniel and my family knowing that he was there and didn t have to fly out or work for two weeks was amazing we were having such a great time that i totally forgot to take pictures oops but those are memories that are deep within my heart we simply had a wonderful time posted by nicole at 10 55 pm 0 comments saturday december 26 2009 update well my dear blog friends hope i could catch up fast with you by updating my virtual window since i did not write for a little while problems to face this country have been facing a semi drought season and that included programmed blackouts that range from 4 10 hours daily leaving us without electricity technology and water yes the systems down here work together for some reason i really started to miss first world supplies you know could you imagine living without any type of electricity and water for an average of 8 hours daily it is a real pain believe me it will drive anybody crazy well some generators helped a little luckily the blackouts are programmed in such a way that it doesn t interrupt with lunch and dinner time i can t imagine myself pregnant and all and with a toddler having to eat out every day the blackouts comes usually in mid morning and then again in the afternoon it is my understanding that this drought problem is something several south american countries are facing now coming back to positive thoughts daniel my baby and i are celebrating as much as we can the holiday season malls parking lots crowding pressures etc is part of the enlightening but we are enjoying it baby number two is doing just fine thanks god we are pretty excited about this new partner to our family we recently moved it was quite hard to manage having a toddler being pregnant and a husband that is gone most of the time but we managed it well at least i feel like we did and that counts right we are in a nicer place near a park and the malls and the airport now we constantly get to hear francesca saying look mommy an airplane and she gets really excited i guess it means that she remembers that s the way to go back home also francesca has stopped using the pacifier man that was a real battle but finally we have closed that stage in her life i was urged to separate these two great pals francesca and binky because i was worried that moments of peace now could affect her teeth for the future so yeah one stage down now we are battling the task of potty training my goal was always to potty train her before baby number two so now we are battling that humongous task which is hard on me having to battle a two year old while pregnant but we are getting there so far we re half way she finally has accomplished to pee or do water as she calls it on the potty when she is awake so no more diaper while she is awake but how to do it while she is sleeping or when we are out i still don t know any suggestions or past experiences are more than welcome because i am pretty much stuck right now another good news is that we came back to the states for the holidays yes we are having a good time in california hope to find some new stuff to
