the connecticut crowthers the connecticut crowthers tuesday july 31 2012 i ve decided to title this post five months of crowther craziness in one rather long post start at the bottom and work your way up derek loved the fishing trip so much he went back out this time for a night trip coolest lighthouse ever and more fish heather with some friends ran her first 5k color me rad they throw neon corn starch at you as you run clearly the girls enjoyed this way too much and were pink for days later derek and grayson chartered a fishing boat off the connecticut coast fish on almost too heavy to lift such a beautiful trip grandpa and grandma crowther joined us for a not to be forgotten trip to our nation s capital this was such a terrific trip valley forge pa above lincoln memorial washington monument white house smithsonian institution sunstone from the nauvoo temple arlington national cemetery the national zoo mount vernon lindsey turned 7 and got way too many presents including her own pink bean bag chair easter morning came to our house as i m sure it did to yours for some reason we felt the need to color our colored eggs and made beautiful matching easter dresses the kids had their closing banquet for swim team and man can they dance who knew posted by heather at 7 27 am 1 comment wednesday march 14 2012 a weekend in vermont a short drive straight north from our house in connecticut takes you right through massachusetts and you end up in vermont our dear friend audie lives in long island but has a home in vermont and graciously invited us up for an extended weekend this is her home in the snow fog and forests beautiful we started our weekend with some hillside sledding which we quickly learned also came with hiking back to the top for a second go there has go to be an easier way lindsey is just about out of energy grayson loved it and abby set the world record for crowther family sledding for distance record she was rewarded with a very long walk back up the hill ha there is an easier way the tubbing run at mt snow as it turned out came complete with a magic carpet that took you all the way back up to the top for your next ride genius our family and our host for the weekend audie the perfect host the perfect mountain the perfect weather derek and heather we loved vermont it was full of beautiful small farms rolling hills and lots and lots of sugar maple trees being tapped for sap to make maple syrup beautiful covered bridges posted by heather at 5 18 am 5 comments friday february 24 2012 valley forge scout camp derek gray and the other scouts from our area drove the four hours south to valley forge pa for the 100th annual scout encampment there were over 4 000 men and boys at the three day camp to honor george washington and the loyal soliders who stayed that freezing winter of 1776 77 terrific revolutionary re enactors derek and gray at the gorgeous george washington memorial chapel what an honor they actually held an outdoor sacrament meeting right there in the same forests and grounds where general washington s brave men slept and died to give us the freedoms we enjoy what a privilege and memory posted by heather at 4 34
