vandenakkers in the city vandenakkers in the city tuesday may 28 2013 callum tyson vandenakker it s been forever since i posted anything i m pretty sure i never even blogged about being pregnant but i thought i d officially introduce our new son callum tyson vandenakker born may 4th 2013 11 12am 7 lbs 8 oz 21 inches he is a total and complete doll we are so excited to have him in our family he was born at intermountain medical center in murray utah an awesome hospital our labor and delivery nurse was amazing i delivered without an epidural and my nurse was totally supportive she taught ty some great techniques to help me deal with contractions and was a real support as intense of an experience as it was it was equally amazing and when my son was born i felt great my recovery seems to have been a lot quicker this time and i didn t think it had been all that long with my other two the whole process was pretty darn quick i was in early labor most of the night before but it didn t keep me up too much around 5am i noticed not only were they harder though still not bad but they were happening about every 2 to 3 minutes i took a hot shower and then paced the floor in the playroom until ty got up around 6 i told him that we should head to the hospital soon so he took a shower while i got dressed i got owen s stuff together for his soccer game and wrote the kids a note to tell them that i love them and that the next time i saw them they would have a little brother we got to the hospital around 7am and he was born 4 hours later everything went really well and i couldn t have been more happy with the entire event especially because we got our sweet little callum here s owen holding his new baby brother he is totally in love callum and mommy daddy and callum in the hospital already exhausted the sweetest baby in the world my big boy and big girl came to visit me in the hospital i couldn t wait for them to come owen didn t get to come see me in the hospital when i had pennie our newest addition posted by the ty vans at 4 07 pm no comments wednesday july 25 2012 catching up pictures of summer it has been a really long time since i posted anything so i thought i d put up some pictures showing some of our adventures over the past few months of course the pictures are all out of order because i m not used to the new blogger setup but at least i was able to load more than 5 pictures at a time woo hoo tyson s cemetery sponsored a community event for memorial day free hot dogs and face painting i took the kids and they loved it ty and i took the kids to vernal last month to see dinosaur national monument it was such a fun trip pennie and i on the tram that would take us up to the monument daddy and owen pennie showing her baby the dinosaur bones it really was cool they have a section where you can actually touch the bones in the wall of the mountain i was surprised the kids thought it was really cool until i wouldn t let penelope use my camera and she threw a monster fit owen and the bones we also took the kids on a hike while we were there they did surprisingly well penelope in particular she kept saying this was a great idea mommy owen got his first hair cut in an actual salon this summer what sparked this sudden interest in style a broken arm he really needed a cut but i couldn t imagine cutting it myself and keeping the hair from getting everywhere when i cut it he goes straight into the bath the cast made that a little more difficult so i used a coupon and took him to supercuts he did a pretty good job the 4th of july in utah means a parade on the lane the street where my inlaws live does a little parade for the kids every year everyone decorates their bikes and goes up and down the street a few times it turned out to be really cute pennie and her cousin natalie all ready for the parade my sister came to visit me and of course i have no pictures of it i don t know why not i realized that i only have one picture of the two of us and i took it on my non fancy phone in a dark movie theater i lame but when it was time for her to go home to california the kids and i went with her on the amtrak it was an adventure to say the least here s pennie and chelsea hanging out on the big train owen being a goof in california there were cousins and a new baby introducing baby caleb he s a doll we went to chuck e cheese with the cousins while we were there owen has found his new obsession he has asked me numerous times since we have been back does utah have a chuck e cheese penelope had her second birthday on may 26th i cannot believe she is so big we went bowling for her birthday where she did yoga we went to heritage park twice this summer once with my cousin and once with a visiting friend owen loved the horses my city boy is quite the cowboy melissa came to visit us from new york we had a great time showing her around and eating her food my favorite picture our good friend michelle brought her boys to visit in april these are all of my kids abey owen izzy and pennie posted by the ty vans at 5 12 pm 1 comment thursday june 21 2012 if it s broke fix it broken owen fell off of the monkey bars at the park yesterday he broke his humorous it wasn t funny he s in a splint until next wednesday when he will get his very first cast the first of many to be sure he s being a little trooper though send him your love posted by the ty vans at 7 11 pm no comments sunday april 15 2012 easter stuff the easter bunny came to our house the kids were all very excited to see what he brought them natalie s parent s were out of town so the easter bunny made a special stop for her at our house too penelope and natalie got matching bows the easter bunny took the eggs we had dyed and hid them around the playroom the kids had a lot of fun finding them even if we somehow lost one isn t that always how it happens pennie wore her pretty pink dress for easter she looked so beautiful after church when abey and izzy came over we had another easter egg hunt this time it was in the backyard it was a really wonderful day posted by the ty vans at 9 18 am no comments friday april 13 2012 spring break we had some very special visitors over spring break my friend michelle and my boys from new york came to visit us in utah it was an amazing visit me and my one and only michelle and abey visiting temple square pennie owen and izzy getting a drink of water pennie saying cheese lunch at a yummy italian place in down town salt lake lucky for us we sat outside since owen spilled an entire glass of water on himself also lucky that mommy happened to pack extra pants pennie playing around on a pole at the restaurant playing with the pretty flowers my beautiful daughter we did so much while our friends were here we went to the
