cliffbee com transformer toy reviews bruticus cliffbee com bruticus toy review home individual review name bruticus series generation 1 allegiance decepticon function no tech spec alternate mode n a gestalt comprising brawl blast off onslaught vortex swindle combined robot mode height 25cm width 16cm unlike some gestalts bruticus has a rather uniform colour scheme what s odd about that is that only vortex and blast off share a plastic colour their chestplates thanks to the designers sticking to a range of dark colours on all the toys he ends up looking very uniform basically he s got a blue and silver grey torso depending of which version of onslaught you have with a brown beige green and grey limb the add on bits are silver grey with red eyes and lots of dark you can imagine bruticus looks suitably evil what s more depending on how you combine him blast off brawl and vortex can all give him arm mounted weapons i prefer brawl as an arm for the fact that bruticus gets a big swivelling cannon with vortex as the other arm with twin green cannons and a set of rotor blades on the other i know a lot of people like brawl as a leg because the turret forms a kneecap but i think the arm cannon s better but hey it s your choice none of the components fail as limbs although swindle s a somewhat boring arm thanks to the big mighty chestplate and twin cannon s on his back onslaught makes a good main body as well the only drawback is that onslaught s arms point back if onslaught s shoulder joints get loose his arms fall forward and push the chestplate off they also have a habit of moving when you position his arms unless you make a point of keeping them still his poseability includes the shoulder and the head which turns right around in case starscream decides to possess him c8 variations vortex swindle and blast off all came in metal and plastic chested versions and brawl came in either metal or plastic treads to be honest it doesn t matter too much with these guys although the chests will make the legs look a little different the overall effect is basically the same onslaught s metal chested version came with silver add on bits while the plastic chest onslaught came with grey frankly the silver parts look nicer there s also the classic versions without rubsigns and plastic parts and the various combinations of the five toys versions overall he looks nice but he s a tad unstable around the shoulders chestplate more stable that devastator but still rather rickety the swapping of limbs work well which is a plus compared so some other scramble city sets and all his components are good toys basically this is a set i _do_ recommend as a set of toys alone he s worthwhile but he s also got a few show appearances i d recommend him far more than g2 bruticus but he s probably on par with the car robots robots in disguise reissue of the set who have some minor mould improvements but slightly more garish colours as a set 8 10 transformers and other indica trademarks of hasbro and or takara
