ed dark brown card on to this i then mounted a piece of background paper i had made myself by sponging distress inks onto copier paper antique linen weathered wood and vintage photo i then crumpled the paper up opened it out and swiped lightly over the top with vintage photo distress ink it gives a lovely marbled look the main image is from the elusive images set paris postcard which was stamped in distress ink onto parchment coloured paper with vintage photo i tore the edges and then rubbed them with weathered wood then rolled one corner this image was mounted onto dark brown card with a piece from a french novel underneath the paris ticket and ooh la la also came fro elusive images again stamped with vintage photo and dabbed with weathered wood the ribbon was once white but again lol coloured with vintage photo the flower was made by stamping flowers in two sizes in vintage photo stamps by artistic stamper flower power onto to paper from the paper cellar victorian classics pad dabbing with weathered wood and antique linen curling the edges and sticking them together joy i used a pale green card and then in the centre of it added a square of silver textured paper and added a circle of bronze coloured paper and arranged 4 different coloured hearts so that the points at the bottom of each of them was on the circle and the top of the hearts were in each corner of the square paper next i added two small strips of double sided tape to the circle and added the top layer of heart shaped pieces so that they are in line with the first layer next i added four larger heart shapes to each corner of the card finished it with a with love sentiment a circle of silver glitter glue to the centre of my heart flower judie hi guys this weeks challenge is hearts flowers now as matting papers and using stickers i think it just shows that a simple technique still makes a nice card lisa mandy i used sketch 150 from cps for the layout and was initially inspired to incorporate carol g 25th jan 20 43 entry no 4 posted by crafty cardmakers at 12 00 139 comments labels challenge 13 sunday 24 january 2010 tutorial heart shaped easel card as promised a really easy heart shaped easel card tutorial you can do most shapes with easel cards so long as you leave a connecting piece on the fold step 1 fold a piece of card in half any size then draw freehand your heart shape you can use templates downloaded or any you have around cut your shape out but remember to leave the pieces touching the fold on the card uncut as below step 2 open your card up and it will look like below fold it closed and draw around it onto a separate piece of card to make an extra heart shape and cut out as shown below decorate all your pieces with backing paper and trim step 3 take the front of your card and fold it over i have put the point at the bottom of the heart in line with the cut out on the top of the heart as shown below step 4 add adhesive to the bottom half of the folded heart shape and attach your extra heart shape panel to this step 5 decorate and job done don t forget to add a stopper to the bottom of your card to stope the heart from slipping posted by crafty cardmakers at 12 32 13 comments labels heart shaped easel sketch tutorial saturday 16 january 2010 tutorial distress inks 1 easy backgrounds welcome to our first tutorial on using distress inks there are so many uses for them and this tutorial is to show how to make easy peasy backgrounds that can be used for several styles of design for this you will need a craft mat that wipes clean i personally use a non stick cooking sheet i bought in the pound shop step 1 select your colours minimal or multiple they all look good together and you never get a bad background for this i have used vintage photo faded jeans and spiced marmalade step 2 start with your lightest colour and dab and swipe this on the sheet randomly or organised its your sheet repeat with your darker colours step 3 spritz some water onto the sheet to activate the ink let all the colours mingle if you want a bit of glam added then spray one or two spritzes of a gold or silver such as starburst stains radiant rain or cosmic shimmers dont add too much glam just a touch is enough step 4 take a piece of card and lay this over your wet ink move it around to pick it up if there are any white spaces left then just lay the card down and repeat the more water you add the lighter the colours will be so if mine looks too light i dab the ink back on and do it again until i m happy also they will dry lighter than what they look like wet so bear that in mind step 5 if you want some concentrated colour i dab the inkpad diectly on the sheet and give it a quick spray you can see this on the blue areas here you can also dab them on direct to paper dtp and leave them as they are to make patterns as in the pic below step 6 select a nice area with a good mix of colour and stamp onto it easy as that you can also use your pieces in embossing folders such as the cuttlebug to make interesting and unique backgrounds that you ve made yourself make sure your piece is completely dry before you cuttlebug as it will tear unless you like that look anyhow for this finished piece i simply stamped and tore around the image then i used a piece of sponge to push some brown distress inks around the edge i hope you have a try with this technique there s nothing better than creating your own backgrounds and papers have fun posted by crafty cardmakers at 23 15 5 comments labels distress ink tutorial monday 11 january 2010 challenge 12
