dp on my desk from another project when i saw the latest color hues challenge and knew it would be perfect for it as you can see it has mostly the rust part but also has touches of yellow i was going to just stamp the sentiment and call it done but i also had the buckeye leaf die on my table i ve been bad about putting things away lately and thought i could add a little more yellow so i smooshed ranger distress mustard seed ink on my craft mat spritzed it with water and then smooshed the white die cut leaf into the ink i adhered it over the dp with foam dots and added 3 yellow acrylic dots thanksgiving christmas hanukkah fall winter the newest challenge over at inkspirational is seasonal since my halloween cards are all made i moved on to thanksgiving fall for my seasonal design i have purchased many of the postage collage stencil sets from waffle flower and i m making myself get them out and use them i try to stencil at least 5 or 6 panels at a time since i have all of the inks out sometimes i use the full panel and sometimes i cut them out and use 3 or 4 sections on a card for this card i used the postage collage die and the postage collage fall stencil set i colored in the sky around the lady bug with a light blue copic and added blue enamel dots from altenew the mini strip sentiment and mini strip die are from taylored expressions so what season do you need to make a card today is the day that we see all the cards exchanged for november in the card chain challenge this month i sent a card to ellie in il and i received a card from joanne in ct here s the card i made i just love this apple pie that i made using to pie for die from the greetery i think it looks so realistic and all i did was sponge the layers with distress inks the coaster die under the pie is also over at splitcoaststampers aging textured die cuts here s the link to the youtube video by lydia basically you smoosh your textured die cuts into several dox inks and then sponge over them with distress vintage photo i die cut the pumpkins from the autumn harvest die set by the greetery i rubbed dox inks in squeezed lemonade carved pumpkin crushed pistachio and salt water taffy onto my glass board spritzed each color with water and pounced into each color with my die cut pumpkins until i liked the mix i dried the pumpkins and then rubbed over them with my finger with ranger distress vintage photo ink which also highlights the texture lines i wanted to age the wagon as well as the pumpkins so i die cut the wagon from rubbernecker out of hammered white card and rubbed over the pieces with with ranger distress hickory smoke and vintage photo ink pad before putting the pieces together i adhered the wagon with the pumpkins as well as a tree sticker and leaves from jolee onto a piece of patterned paper from rubbernecker with this lovely fall field scene i stamped the sentiment and splattered over the panel with my black posca pen inside a stamped happy thanksgiving i m fall birthday so i went with pumpkins and i got to use this beautiful recently purchased doorway die i stamped the background panel using elegant arches cutting out the arch shape in the center with a2 arches die and because they all come from the greetery the elegant entrance arches die fits perfectly inside the opening the doors do open but i chose to adhere the pumpkins wheat sheaves and squash cut using the autumn harvest die set onto the panel so for this card the doors do not open i printed the sentiment off my computer and added the sweet red acrylic heart i sponged the colors september 28 2023 group of seven cardmakers september post 3d embossing with a twist today i m sharing the cards i made using this month s group of 7 cardmakers technique which is 3d embossing with a fun twist the fun twist is that you ink up the debossed side of an embossing folder with black ink and emboss your water colored with reinkers panel which creates a black background around the colorful embossed image you ll find a link to a tutorial by devid roodenburg over at the group of 7 blog as well as some beautiful inspiration from the rest of the seven here are the 4 cards i created using this technique here s how i created my cards misted both sides of a panel of watercolor paper with water dropped 2 3 colors of reinker inks onto my craft mat and used a wet paintbrush to spread one color at a time over the panel painted equal amounts of each color on the panel randomly dried panel with heat tool or set aside for an hour to dry inked the debossed side of a 3d embossing folder with nocturne versafine clair ink placed the water colored panel in the embossing folder color side over the black inked side and ran through my big shot some photos of each card as i was creating i started with this ranger distress reinkers peeled paint and stormy sky and created this tall pines ef i started with this ranger distress inks rusty hinge wild honey and tea dye and created this acorns ef i started with this ranger distress reinkers cracked pistachio shabby shutters peeled paint i made two panels for this one and created this glorious leaves ef i started with this ranger distress reinkers worn lipstick festive berries fired brick i made two panels for this and created this poinsettia ef notes 1 the background is supposed to be solid black i could have tried to reink the folder and emboss again or gone over the background with a marker but i decided to leave them the way they came out with the first embossing i was afraid i would misalign the folder or the black ink and black marker wouldn t look good together so i get a b for the class not following directions 2 if you don t have any water friendly reinkers try smooshing distress ink pads onto your craft mat and use a wet brush to apply the ink to the misted watercolor paper 3 i found that each 3d embossing folder seems to be a slightly different thickness and had to adjust the sandwich used to emboss don t force it through your machine 4 when i look at my panels it seems that the parts that didn t fully color with black are where the pressure rollers might be on my big shot as it definitely looks like a vertical linear miss along both outside edges maybe i need a new machine 5 i also tried a few embossing folders that did not work well with this technique before finding some that did don t give up
