use pink green and blue in your cards the sketch was definitely not clean and simple so that was a challenge in itself i think it helped that i did not matte any of my layers the three blue panels are share to facebook share to pinterest occ challenge monochromatic mania saturday september 26 2009 hello there i m here today with a challenge that i came up with for our creative corner the challenge is to use monochromatic colors you can use one color or many shades of that one color you may also incorporate a neutral like white cream black or kraft i chose purple as my color and you can see there are many shades this card has so many elements i barely know where to begin i used a digital image for the i just wanted to say panel i simply changed the text to purple to match before i printed it out the swirls behind the oval are stamped in versamark the glitter y swirls are actually from a pack of halloween stickers from doodlebug design inc as well as the purple gems now head on pinterest papertrey ink blog hop september friday september 25 2009 hello i m so glad i remembered the papertrey ink blog hop this month i ve been mia for a few months t his month we were challenged to reuse re purpose or recycle packaging from your papertrey package i chose to re purpose the clear boxes that the stamps come in this is a box that holds halloween treats i mostly used the hocus pocus collection from doodlebug design inc this would include the papers spider sticker and ribbon this project was very simple i used my coluzzle to cut the circles to make a window you can see the pumpkin shaped reese cups peeking out of the window i used two papertrey ink stamp sets to make the tag the word sweet comes from everyday button bits and i spelled out the word treats using fresh out some new paper today and i think my card turned out really well i have never seen glossy colored paper before patti from paper maniac sent me some you can see in the picture below the glossiness i used my new cuttlebug folder to dry emboss the glossy paper since the glossy paper has a white center i was able to take a sanding block and sand off the raised area leaving white this paper is here on my blog this week s theme is halloween fall cards i made this card using a stamp from serendipity something i don t do very often is color so i was really surprised when this card turned out so well i used watercolor pencils to color the image but i did not go over it with an aqua painter i just left it as is then i sponged some navy blue for the sky and green and brown for the ground click on the picture for a larger view i did not want to take away from the scarecrow with a lot of embellishments so i kept it pretty simple with some textured orange card stock and a strip of challenge we all made a card using the colors in the picture above i just love petit fours they are so cute for my card i wanted white to be the dominant color and have pops of the pinks i created the hot pink curly label by using su s top note die and cutting off the edges and taping them together also notice that the light pink sentiment panel is curved i did this by placing a foam dimensional for the very first time i am happy to report that it went extremely well right now at paper maniac there are 8 digital stamp sets they are all amazing i tell ya the one i used today came from a set called just wanted to say in these tough times digital stamps are a wonderful alternative to regular stamps at paper maniac all the stamp sets are 2 3 50 and you don t pay a shipping fee since you download it yourself easy peasey you can t beat that plus you can print them in any size you want this card was kind of interesting because i really wanted to use that patterned paper but i didn t have any matching ribbon i thought that it might look okay to use a complimentary color like orange but i would also need to use orange somewhere else on the card i was very surprised that this worked thursday september 17 2009 hello i was browsing kristina werner s blog on monday and was so inspired by the card sketch book she made i had to give it a try myself the inside of the book is filled with little rectangles you can use to sketch card layouts now i ve been looking for something like this for while so i was super excited when you could just print out the pages from kristina s blog she did all the hard work for us since this sketch book will mostly be in my purse i wanted a simple cover i used two retired su colors for the cover the scalloped circle is a sticker from sassafras and the letters are from a pack of sticker from the 1 store i rounded my edges because i knew they would just get bent up in my purse here s how i usually sketch out cards i use anything lying around
