uncompromising album as any blackmore was ever involved with in hindsight it more or less cemented the band s reputation despite a gradual falling off of quality perhaps patchiness might be more accurate from there onwards but despite it delighting most fans polydor struggled to find the single though some european countries had a go with starstruck this is one of my favourite sleeves which becomes the last of the classic deep purple era albums to reach 50th anniversary status in well it was due to be issued in october 1975 but typo errors on the sleeve spotted late on meant it got delayed into early november and most stores got their stock for sale during the second week of the month this does raise the possibility of an uncorrected sleeve proof or two getting out anyone ever years ago that ritchie blackmore issued his last rock album the final rainbow lp stranger in us all appeared back in 1995 after blackmore had departed the fracturing deep purple reunion line up the new album was supported by a lengthy tour which ran into 1997 after which he called it a day to concentrate on his side project blackmore s night there were a few reunion shows twenty years or so
