monday september 21 2009 football on saturday nights jeff and i like to have things to do one random night we decided to head out to a unlv football game we were surprised that we were able to get tickets still they were pretty crapy student seats but seating in that area is slightly tentative people move all around so you can move down if you see no one is sitting there so we felt that we were doing alright being the good students we were we wore our rebel red we even matched are we a corny couple or what ha we had a great dinner at lucille s bbq before had because we had no one to tail gate with what can you do some crazy thinks happened while we were there the game was against hawaii their fans were pretty intense and the student section in and of it self is pretty sketchy the first thing we experiences was a gentlemen who had drank over his limit before the game even started he was sitting about 5 rows below us and was puking his guts out that have this great thing at the games where you can text the security and they will take care of the unruly fan so i texted in and security came in and asked the gentlemen to leave it was awesome greatest thing that has ever happen to a sport jeff was able to experience the unlv fight song and the reh bulls cheer for the first time he loved it still does it today we ended up winning the game it was very close going back and forth between teams it made it really intense and all the more fun we left about 3 mins early from the game and beat traffic our matching rebel red driving to the game we thought we looked cool first half we were geared up and ready rubbing it in hawaii s face that we won posted by unknown at 3 43 pm no comments saturday august 29 2009 he signed his life away today was a very honorable day in the lives of jeff and mallory daybell today was the day that jeff enlisted into the nevada national guard with his smp program he is simultaneously enrolled in the guard while going to school and being in rotc he had a lot of paperwork to sign to get ready for this there were many question asked and he signed his names millions of times his recruiter is sergeant irenze he is the man that helped jeff get everything ready for this moment and if really funny he certainly kept this entertaining these pictures are from when he was sworn in he was sworn in by major herrera the girl with him is cadet areerob she was being sworn into the nevada national guard as well the last picture is jeff actually signing his contract this basically says that he belongs to the military until he has paid his dues it was such a blessing to us right now because they are willing to pay for his school jeff is so excited about the work that he gets to do and proud to be serving his country wish us luck and gob bless america cadet daybell and cadet areerob being sworn in daybell herrera areerob after everything was done daybell and irenze signing his life away posted by unknown at 9 18 pm 1 comment thursday august 20 2009 nyc just got here this morning i have been blessed with the trip of a lifetime if you have known me then you probably know that i have wanted to go to new york city all my life i am obsessed with theater and wanted nothing more then to go see a broadway play and check out some shopping i was able to take this trip a lot earlier then expected as a negotiation tool surprise jeffrey and nancy planned a trip for us to take it was amazing we left on tuesday and headed to the city it was nancy randy hannah jeffrey and i we drove the 4 and half hours to the city and found the apartment building that we had been offered to use a co worker of randy s offered up his apartment in gaswork park because him and his family were headed south we were so lucky to be able to stay in such a nice place right in the city the first day we got there in the early afternoon we headed to the subway and made our way up to times square it was beautiful we were all very hungry so we were looking for a place to eat randy had a place in mind and we started our adventure we walked up times square taking it all in we eventually got to the stage deli it was a delicious meal of huge sandwiches with full tummies we were ready to continue out journey we check out some sites close by and soon fell upon the ziegfeild theater it just so happens that the premiere for the time traveler s wife we waited to see if we could catch some celebrities we were lucky enough to be able to see rachel mcadams if we would have stayed a little longer we would have seen brad pitt but we kept walking we found rockafeller and the nbc studios we made our way back we stopped and grabbed a cannoli for dessert it was so tasty the next morning jeff randy and i took a walk we were just around the corner from the satan island ferry we hopped on there since it s free and checked out the statue of liberty we did go directly to the island but we got pretty close it just gives us a reason to go back we went back to the apartment and got ready we headed back uptown we hit macy s the nyc temple and central park i was so lucky to be able to hit all the things that i wanted to do there is so much to see there that we will defiantly be going back we headed back toward time square and towards our play we were able to quickly see the plaza hotel and shopped a little in tiffany s that night we went and saw the amazing play chicago it was starring samantha harris from dancing with the stars her voice was surprisingly awesome it was a dream come true people have always told me that i most likely enjoy nyc from afar but once i got there i would feel claustrophobic and crowded i can now tell you i did not i loved every min of it and can not be more grateful for my amazing family and their willingness to make my dreams come true catching the subway time square stage deli and our huge sandwiches at the ziegfeild waiting for celebrities such pretty ladies the star her self ms rachel mcadams nbc studios times square at night loved the lights and all that jazz real nyc cannoli lady liberty jeff and i with nyc behind us macy s it s nine floors large the street it self nyc temple this is the bride in central park the one in all the movies chillin in tiffany s a great way to end the trip love you guys posted by unknown at 4 26 pm no comments tuesday august 18 2009 summer dayz drifting away so jeff and i have made another big change in our lives he and i in full support has decided to join the military this is some thing that he has always wanted to do it took me around but i have finally agreed to the situation we looked into it mainly for paying for school and then the rest is history he is now part of the r o t c program at unlv and loves it at first the plan was for him just to be in r o t c and then go active duty when he graduated but things were not working out we changed directions and jeff has chosen to do the smp route this means that while attending school and being apart of r o t c he has chosen to sign up for the nevada national guard this all started in the beginning of june in the first few weeks of july jeff had started taking his military science classes he was two years behind and needed to catch up before the fall semester started he had attended about three or four classes when things got thrown into over drive jeff went to class one morning and there was someone new there someone he had never met that person happened to be the colonel over southern nevada they talked and the general was so impressed that he wanted jeff to be on a plane in two days heading to ltc leadership training center this is a month long camp for cadets who have started the rotc program late in their college career we knew about this camp and were expecting him to go next summer to our surprise he had the option to go now the thing is it wasn t really an option jeff found out the news on a thursday morning and he left saturday morning we had to get everything he needed together in two days needless to say there was a lot of running around to do jeff left saturday morning for fort knox kentucky for one month the month was an interesting one for us jeff was off having the time of his life while he was running himself ragged he would be up in the morning at 4 am do some pt physical training grab breakfast they had 3 mins to eat head to a morning activity which could have been anything from land navigation to a high ropes course marksmanship to water survival they would have 3 to 5 mile ruck marches here and there on a good day they wouldn t get rained on and they could enjoy an mre for lunch they would then either finish the morning activity or start and afternoon activity the would grab dinner around 5 or 6 and call cadences in between they never really stood still because there was always something to be done after dinner they would either listen to a presentation or go and work some more at 9 they would head into the barracks and prepare for the night lights out would be at 10 he would call me after his cleaning was done and we would talk for about 20 to 30 mins during the night he would have to wake up 2 to 3 time to do fire guard that is when you have to either clean the bathrooms or keep watch over the barracks for an hour if you got back to sleep you would be woken up at 4 am by the drill sergeants to do it all over again he learned so much and would not change it for the world he has so many stories and i loved listening to them all he made many new friends but is glad to be back jeff and his good friend davis a group of good friends from left to right davis daybell smith allen young 3rd platoon outlaws 1st squad military band at graduation cadet daybell and family after graduation ready to come home posted by unknown at 7 33 pm no comments sunday august 9 2009 kentucky and driving home so after jeffrey was done with his camp we got to do some fun activities before we headed home we hit some fun spots in louisville most of the them had to do with food jeffrey didn t really care what we did as long as he got to relax and be with family we first got lunch at mark s feed store it was a great bbq place that randy found from his friends online it was really tasty we all loved it and had the mess to prove it randy and will both home teach a couple that is from louisville he told us that there was a certain bakery that we had to go and get some kooka not sure if that is how it was spelled but that is how it sounds we got two kinds we bought peach and another that i can t really remember we all really enjoyed it we then went and found where the colonel who created kentucky fried chicken was buried it was fun and not something that many people can say that they have done the next day we drove back to va that was a long trip we stopped at another bbq joint called this place was yummy too we had really good food this trip we got home that evening and just enjoyed the evening it was nice to have my husband back that is for sure a couple days later we took a trip to the d c temple i really enjoyed it i have never done an session out side of the vegas temple before mark s feed store after a tasty meal we were so full waiting on our kooka posted by unknown at 4 04 pm no comments friday july 10 2009 happy birthday america fun with sparklers fire work stud pyromanicas we hope that you all had a wonderful holiday because we know that we did my mother was out of town so we simply celebrated the nation s birthday with just the two of us we started off our day with a flag raising at the church it was nice to be able to see the nation s colors being respected in the proper way we enjoyed a laid back breakfast of doughnuts and juice while we mingled with others from the ward afterwards we headed back home for a long deserved nap when we woke up i started on the food i felt that my husband deserved a big 4th of july bbq so i tried to pull out all the stops even thought it was just the two of us i marinated some chicken wings grilled hot dogs we had a couple types of chips and dip a whole watermelon it was a feast for kings when the sun went down we headed outside to light our few fireworks we were excited though some neighbors down the street were lighting theirs as well so we got to enjoy a few more then expected if anyone doesn t know i am a pyromaniac at heart jeff hates it but i try and melt different things nothing that is all too flammable but i love a good flame just ask anne being the humble person that i am 0 i put my pyro antics aside for one night and let jeffrey light the fireworks deep down inside he is a pyro too he just doesn t like to admit it after our pyro show we went to watch the big ones that the hotels put off for anyone who doesn t know pretty much any vegas hotel likes to put on a show so they all set off huge displays we headed to the top of the 215 that has a view that over looks all the city and got a pretty decent spot to watch the works we turned up the radio and with the other firework gurus starred in awe at the magical display glowing over our city after the last fire had done it s work we headed home to enjoy a movie in bed we say that it was a good day posted by unknown at 5 46 pm no comments older posts home subscribe to posts atom the facts unknown view my complete profile happy
