thursday january 29 2015 opi fifty shades of grey collection swatches posted by carla at 3 26 pm good afternoon everyone i know i ve been mia for several months but i m back today to share the new 50 shades of grey collection from opi let s get into the swatches my silk tie is a gorgeous silver shimmer the formula and application on this is nice but it is on the streaky side even when dry the image below was 2 coats dark side of the mood is a deep grey with blue undertones that dries to a subtle pearl shimmer like most of the shades in this collection the first coat goes on a bit sheer but becomes opaque after a second coat romantically involved is your basic medium red creme nothing too fancy here i used the red here a as a random brush strokes for the mani below otherwise this is opaque in two generous coats embrace the gray is a medium grey creme this goes on very sheer but is perfect in 2 3 coats depending on your application shine for me is a clear base packed with blue and silver glitter this can either be used as a glitter topper or can be built until you reach opacity this was two coats over embrace the gray again opacity with vary depending on your application technique lastly cement the deal this is a light grey creme that i easily confused with embrace the gray these 50 shades of grey will do that to ya this was 2 generous coats the collection is now 25 pm good evening everyone tonight s post features a few polishes from china glaze s city flourish and surprise collections here are my thoughts lotus begin is a gorgeous lilac creme the formula on this was okay and offered good coverage in two coats what a pansy is a soft violet creme the formula on this was very smooth and opaque in two coats glitter up is a clear base loaded with metallic purple sky blue beige and peach hex glitters this was one easy coat at vase value is a minty pastel blue creme ugh such a gorgeous polish but such horrendous application and formula this was three thin coats grass is lime greener is a vibrant neon green this color is very interesting the bottle looks a lot softer than it appears on the nail again a pretty shade but a horrible formula this was three thin coats shine nanigans is a clear base loaded with pistachio magenta and metallic purple hexes 1 coat of glimmer more over two coats of peonies in park avenue such a lovely combination metro pollen tin is a cantaloupe creme the formula on this was on the streaky side but evens out in three coats which colors will you be picking up thoughts i d love to know down below these were sent for tonight s post features the new muppets most wanted collection from opi here are my thoughts int l crime caper is a pearl opalescent finish with magenta and violet shimmers imo we see this color finish a lot but i m a huge fan so that didn t bother me i used three coats in the image below and as you can see there is some definite vnl use it on it s own or add it to a dark base to add a nice opalescent sheen gaining mole mentum is a clear base packed with gold and soft rose gold shreds this was personally my favorite from the collection typically shreds are seen more often in indie polishes so it s nice to see that more well known brands are branching off from the more ordinary glitter shapes we re so used to seeing nowadays chillin like a villain is a soft peach apricot nude this is such a pretty shade on its own it is very thin so you will need around 3 4 coats for opacity let s do anything we want is a clear base loaded with white pink and silver glitters i love the medium white squares they added for an extra special touch this was one generous coat i love applause is a soft pink beauty look at that glossy sheen this was three thin coats and is now my go to sheer pink muppets world tour is a clear base loaded with silver white blue magenta and gold glitters the image below was done in one generous coat miss piggy s big number is a vibrant shimmery blue i wouldn t say it s a metallic polish but it does have a slight metallic finish perfect in two coats kermit me to speak is an olive purple duochrome again another color we see very often but a beauty monday march 3 2014 review swatches zoya magical pixie collection posted by carla at 5 30 pm good evening everyone the second post of the day features the three polishes from the zoya magical pixie collection here are my thoughts and swatches cosmo is a silver base with multi sized silver holo hexes this was two coats unfortunately my camera was unsuccessful in capturing the true glittery goodness sparkle these polishes offer lux is a rose quartz with the same multi sized holo hexes this was two coats vega is described as a blue opal sparkle this was two coats and was my favorite from this collection overall i love the intense grittiness that these polishes offer the chunky matte texture is fantastic but also means it will require a lot more elbow grease during removal each polish required two generous coats for opacity these reflect beautifully indoors so you can imagine how gorgeous they sparkle in the sun the formula on these are thicker than your average pixie dust polishes but isn t the least bit difficult to apply if it s too thick go ahead and add a few drops of thinner until you ve reached your desired consistency which colors will you be picking up thoughts i d love am good morning beauties i m feeling a little under the weather this morning but as i sit in bed writing this post it instantly helps cheer up my mood today i have the four piece rougles collection from nicole by opi to share and i ll tell you now this collection is an all around winner in my book sand in my shoe is a pale apricot base with specks of red orange this was two coats now these are all matte finishes but i took the pictures a little too earlier before it had the chance to completely dry rock the look is a baby pink base that consists of black and red specks this one totally reminds me of a strawberry smoothie yum this required two coats and was my favorite from the collection on what grounds is a baby blue turquoise with blue and black specks remember this collection consists of all matte finishes it dries to the same gritty texture as rock the look i m stucco on you is a gorgeous lavender periwinkle base loaded with blue and red specks this was my second pick from this collection and required two coats to reach opacity overall i really loved the direction nicole by opi went with for this collection i loved the gritty matte finishes and the playful color combinations from the easy to work with formula to the ease of application and the overall look this is a total and complete win in my book if you like pastel colors and textured finishes you ve got to try these out not to mention this collection is perfect for spring nicole by opi formulas are long lasting fast drying and salon quality the 4 new nail lacquers will be available in stores beginning march 2014 for 7 99 each at retailers including select duane reade kroger kmart fred meyer cvs locations in canada these shades will be available for 10 99 each at shoppers drug mart jean
