serenity now serenity now musings from a 30 something mom living in the south monday january 16 2012 rose of erin doily errata can you believe i haven t blogged in almost 3 years fer real anyway i need to put this errata for the rose of erin doily on my blog to save alot of you the trouble of trying to get in touch with me thru forums that i do not visit anymore so here it is be warned this is my way of telling myself how to fix this doily hopefully it will get you in the correct mindset for seeing through the mistakes in the pattern remember we all fudge alittle and thats ok its the end result that gets the compliments not the challenge of getting there that said here is the errata and good luck you can reach me on ravelry username dixieredhead if needed rose of erin doily errata notes there s something funny with the pattern just before the rosettes round 7 between the spiral and the rosettes calls for 8 loops 8 times and round 8 calls for increase of five loops to make 85 this does not compute looking at the rosettes it seems that there is 13 of them each joined to four individual loops of the center and to two shared by the neighboring roses making five separate loops of center per rosette needed to join or 65 total which is neither 64 nor 85 i have decided to increase just the one loop now and see how it works out with the rosettes later stay tuned 13 itself is a weirdo number to have on a doily pattern but that s what it seems they have in the picture too with the interpretation that round 8 of the center should read increase one loop make loops around 65 loops the roses join perfectly as described based on reading the pattern only the spirals should fit to center exactly as described pinwheel edging rounds trying to get the correct of loops some pinwheels were connected using 3 loops to main doily some were connected with 4 it looks believeable when doing the final outer edging i had to sc some loops together to make sure that i had the right picot tutorial i ve had a few people ask me about making a tutorial on picots i finally had time to make one first you need to ch3 or whatever number your pattern says is needed for the picot in the ch3 there is a left side and a right side of each chain slip your hook thru the left side only loop after slipping thru the left side loop wrap the thread around the hook once pinch the picot and pull down using your thumb and forefinger while pulling the loop thru sometimes this is a bugger to do but pulling down makes the picot puffy voila your finished ch3 picot ch3 picot edging feel free to
