missing my sister 9 26 19 been a rough 2 weeks first it was nephew anthony on my husband s side of the family spent a few days at the hospital with him and later with his son at the funeral then helping his son trying to handle things at his dad s home then one of my younger sister s ginny virginia was in the hospital and we were told there was nothing more they could do for her and she only had a few days i spent every day visiting her until yesterday i was holding her hand and she was talking to me when i think she had another heart attack and i knew she was gone happened so fast while she was still talking to me we were always very close every time over the last few days if i was where she couldn t see me and other s were with her i would here her asking where is dot and i would tell her i am right here with you she was 86 2 tears younger than i am she has had real bad emphazema for years and been on oxygen i have worried about her for years i am glad her daughter and a son were there with us when it happened in a better thought i still have a lot of vegetables to take care of in my walk around garden using earth boxes which sit up on standards i made so i can still have a garden without bending to the ground and even though my arthritic messed up hands make it impossible to still crochet knit or do anything where i have to hold small items i can still work in my wood shop this summer my son roger and his wife helped me replace the insulation in the wall which connects the shop with the garage so i can again heat the shop in the winter squirrels had gotten in my garage and chewed it all out a couple years ago son ron had closed up the garage eaves before his bad fall accident to keep the squirrels from getting in the garage any more but i was laid up all that summer and couldn t do anything now that i am able to work in the shop again we got the insulation put back in the wall so i can heat it all winter love making things in my shop i try to stay active as much as possible posted by dotm 9 16 2019 05 06 00 pm 3 comments sunday october 14 2018 october 14 2018 here i sit waiting for the stew to finish cooking finally reached up to 52 f and even with the furnace running today still feels damp and chilly in the house have turned on the small heater in the kitchen near me for a while if were more ambitious would use the oven and bake something good time for some nice warn stew roo still keeps me waiting on him he has this one bark that says i emptied my water dish this sharper bark that says you need to take me outside and then there is this sit up on his fanny with his front legs out like a kangaroo why the breeder friend named him roo and just staring at me expecting me to know what he wants some times when he is sitting upright he will start licking his mouth yes that means i want more food one smart pug he makes sure i get up and feed him every morning gives me lots of exercise climbing up and down the porch steps 4 to 6 times a day last week i laid down another place for him to lay while i was cleaning his bedding in his bed now he goes and lays on that place when he wants to go out and also lays there when he comes back in to remind me he is waiting for his treat for going outside getting way to smart and controlling my youngest son who fell is doing better still seeing all the dr s and needing more therapy so used to working he is having a rough time not being unable to do much has been laid up soo long will be 6 months on the 27th often hear he has tried doing more than dr s allow like removing the air conditioner from the window in their apartment while she was working he told me he used his leg to set it on to move it told him that was bad for a lot of reasons bad for his hip his hand and wrist and other places still healing he said mom i am tired of sitting here and hate asking others to do things i should be doing he is getting discouraged and wants his old life as a construction worker back i fear he will never be able to do the work he was so proud of dr s are telling him it will be at least another year before his body will be recovered enough to do any kind of work now they say they need to remove the bar screws and all from his left wrist and arm because they are causing problems with the nerves he was here for a short time a couple days ago another son was patching a leak in my garage roof with advice from his knowing how brother ron the one who fell had re done the roof on my shop and the side of the higher garage roof where they are connected before his fall hopefully there will be no more leaks on the other side of the rood this winter my walk around garden is done for this year but still have both carrots and beets in separate large containers to pull up and a few pepper plants still in more pots covered them last night so the frost wouldn t kill them earth boxes are all cleaned and stored away in the shed till next spring finished trimming the grape vines yesterday so they are now ready for winter they were delicious this year last week did some touch up painting on the earth box standards and they are stored next to the house for winter also did another stain on the side porch floor and steps and re painted the back porch steps and railing this summer one son and his daughter painted the entire outside of my home his mother s day gift to me his twin brother bought and put up new wooden fencing along the back section of the lots i own next to my home property had a neighbor out back tossing beer cans and other items there and when a daughter was mowing on that property she piled up his junk in a neat pile back on his property the man came out saying he was calling the cops i told him to please do or would you like me to call then for you since no one on my property drinks he shut up and walked away life never gets boring this same son came down and put up the insulation last month that i had cut to fit in the shop garage wall where last year the squirrels had chewed it all out and had babies in the shop ceiling s i law helped me close in the eaves on the shop to keep them out and last year ron had closed in the other side of the garage roof eaves to keep them out of the garage now should be able to heat the shop enough to work in it this winter last week had to take down the bird feeder other squirrels never bothered it because they don t like safflower seeds birds do now have this one gray one who likes them and tipped the wood frame pole and all over when he jumped off day after i left the bird feeder sown my s i law noticed a hole chewed into his trash container think the gray ones are even more destructive than the black ones time will tell miss watching all the birds at the feeder posted by dotm 10 14 2018 02 14 00 pm 2 comments friday august 03 2018 aug 3 2018 hi everyone been a long time since i have posted here things are going pretty good for me i thank god every day for sparing my son s life after his bad fall from a high ladder on his construction job while removing a second story outside window so much damage to his body 3 broken ribs face fractures lacerations to kidney and liver bleeding and swelling in brain bleeding in another place in head fractured hip socket both shoulders clavocals fractured broken left wrist and arm which was repaired with a plate in wrist and screws and a bar extended from wrist to elbow one jugular vein in neck completely destroyed 4 staples required to close cut in left side of head has a cracked skull in 2 places 2 black eyes with right eye dark black colored completely closed and bloodshot with eye bulging partway out of it s socket scraped both knees left foot black and blue with big toe painful and swollen this accident happened on april 27 2018 just today at another dr apt they discovered the blood flowing around the heart where they say is not normal so am now waiting to see what the cardiologist says when he sees him next month wish they were seeing him sooner as it worries me he is in therapy still but slowly getting better three of his dr s say he is a miracle because the first 5 days they gave us little hope and it was over a week before he again gained consciousness god was good will forever be eternally grateful he still has a long hard road ahead of him but he hasn t given up his boss told us that after the fall ronnie got up and was going to re climb the ladder and he had to hold him down till the ambulance arrived and they rushed him straight to albany medical hosp about 50 miles away because he was in such bad shape for our local hospital to handle wish didn t have to wait till next month to know the degree of damage to the heart blood vessel praying something that can be repaired easily still working in my wood shop have my walk around garden again this year call it a walk around because years ago i built standards to hold earth boxes so i can still have a garden too hard getting up from the floor or ground for the normal ground gardens also still turning over my compost bins doing my best to stay active to live longer has the aneurysm in the back of my head checked again this year and still only 5 mm in size so good so far 4 years and no change which is good one son walt and his daughter jen took me with them to virginia and then to myrtle beach in s carolina where we joined another granddaughter millie and grandson walter and their families for a wonderful weeks vacation many hours of riding but everyone had a great time was gone for 9 days 1st vacation in years was hurt right foot sunday august 6 2017 been almost a year since i have updated my blogger another summer almost over lost a beautiful granddaughter and 2 more wonderful cousins which will be terribly missed but on the happy side i became a great great grandmother on july 11 2017 had so much planned to accomplish this summer but took another fall june 3rd which upset all those plans here it is over 9 weeks later and still can t wear the right shoe so still can t drive or do much never broke anything just messed up all the ligaments muscles etc in the right foot dr told me would take 12 to 14 weeks to heal guess i thought i would heal quicker but so far doesn t look that way still keeping up most of the day still ice packing swelling gone down a whole lot not mammoth any more but still more to go tried to get my shoe on thursday didn t want to look like an invalid at the funeral home but had to keep wearing the boot see dr again on friday before the fall had everything set to make the 3 car tires wishing well for my back yard still waiting to be able to get back working in my woodshop to cut and build the top that goes over the tires thanks to a s i law was able to still have my walk around garden again this year still use the earth boxes sitting up on the standards i made years ago finally started caring for it myself a week ago since there is no weeding with it up higher just have to keep the water section of the boxes filled with the hose and pick vegetables as they ripen so little real work there still enjoying the summer squash zucchini and cucumbers lettuce and spinach have ended plus more tomatoes still ripening plum cherry big boy and sandwich types all from the earth boxes plus have been enjoying the string beans growing in a small area by the shop have some large containers with carrots and beets growing larger in them hoping to can them later when finished growing have string beans frozen in freezer also hoping to be able to can and freeze tomatoes for winter love my fresh garden veggies my sweet pug roo is now 6 years old and as sweet as ever this last winter was his first winter ever going outside due to his front legs disability and the fact we had less snow had to keep shoveling with his body being soo close to the ground he loves going out in the summer but can t stay out very long as he doesn t handle hot days very well he gave me a bad scare a few months ago he had a seizure and i thought i was losing him i thank god that he made it and so far no new problems with his little legs problems he was born with he already has enough to handle have soo much to thank my family for since my fall made it to a great granddaughter graduation from high school plus the party at their home and also to a daughters party because one of my sons provided my transportation and a lounge chair that kept my foot elevated all the time i was there also made it to a niece s wedding shower thanks to a sister taking me with her plus to the baby shower before my great great grandson was born thanks to a daughter taking me also to see the baby at their home thanks to the same daughter who is his grandmother another daughter has been driving me to all the dr apts then the youngest daughter brought her riding lawnmower and did both my properties for me i am soo very lucky to have such helpful family a son provided transportation to my cousin s funeral a few days ago then all that help from a son in law with the garden he also bring the newspaper every morning and leaves it on my porch so i haven t had to walk out to get it i thank god for all of them it is now 10 am guess i will go cook some breakfast finally feeling hungry still have cooked pancakes left so just cooking an egg and making some tea to add to it wishing everyone a november 14 2016 wet snow broke down tree on october 28th haven t accomplished much today but did manage to turn over the compost bins hoping to make more good soil for the flower beds next spring seems like each year the raked up leaf pile grows much larger think i should have bought some town trash bags and bagged some of them for the town to pick up maybe next year but should have a lot less leaves to rake next year since the heavy wet snow over a week ago broke down parts off the tree behind my wood shop glad we have only had this one snow storm so far this year part of the tree landed between my sitting area and wood shop while part of the tree landed out behind the shop left that tall tree with two very week sections so the whole tree needed to be cut down one son used his chain saw to cut down the tree while another son his wife and their son were pulling on the rope guiding the tr...
