apocalypse posted on july 22 2021 by dtgriffith here it is my big editing project of 2020 2021 a silent dystopia a collection of ten stories set in the world of dave jeffery s a quiet apocalypse featuring horror writers from across europe and north america this project has been my passion since its inception about a year ago and has kept me quite busy through the latter half of our real life pandemic working with dean drinkel at demain publishing creator dave jefferey and all of the talented writers and artists listed below has been a wonderful experience one i hope to repeat in the not too distant future i give huge thanks to my wife melissa who has endured my countless hours of reading editing and corresponding with authors across multiple time zones to bring this project to life i couldn t have done this without her loving support hear today the disease known as mng u has staked its claim on humanity and ended the world most of those who survive have been robbed of their hearing deafened in this quiet apocalypse around the globe people do what they can to exist in the terrifying silence even what was once considered unthinkable whether in isolation or in new i posted about my book plain being published it s received some wonderful reviews and you should check it out this was an unusually long hiatus from this blog site i remember spending a lot of time in its early days creating what i hoped was useful content for some readers out there but life happened and this site was pushed into the background it s time to change that so i thought i should check in and let the world know i m very much alive and still living some version of the writer s life i ve had a few recent writing developments i d like to share the tail end of 2020 saw my latest pub a short story with demain publishing entitled darkness calls it was well received but it could always use some more love i ve helped launch a fledging local chapter of the horror writers association representing the state of connecticut of which i m a co chair hwa ct we re open to new membership i m heavily involved in a new project from demain publishing that will be announced soon i can t say previous blog covering the amazon com inc amazon policy change for incentivized reviews this time i m sharing the basics of vine from a vendor s point of view what is vine at its core vine is a marketing opportunity for vendors to request potential reviews and ratings from amazon s certified reviewers i say potential because vine reviewers are not required to write a review in exchange for wife s recent close call after contracting a dangerous infection on top of everything else and financial woes threw my motivation to write fiction into a tar pit the fear that comes with uncertainty and morbidity takes a toll on anyone s psyche and i was just another one of its recipients creative energy was quietly replaced by dark observations and the subsequent frustrations of the world s current political state mindless entertainment and mobile device games passed the time between work and family obligations sleep became more and more desirable to pass the days when it was an option a few too many sips of bourbon helped ensure that looking back i can point out a plethora of reasons i ended up here but what s the point all i can do is recognize where i am and set a new direction wallowing in self pity and introspective pondering won t accomplish anything except perhaps provide a character trait in an new story today i found this incredible discomfort ripping at my heart i loathe the idea of complacency and living the mundane and yet i found myself there an overwhelming urge to write something anything is pushing me to write this self reflective piece now so i m going
