elder joshua howard elder joshua howard monday november 5 2012 11 5 12 hey y all this weekend was amazing i am so greatful for being there for christie baughmans baptism i gave the talk on baptism and everyone said i did great one of the members at the baptism played the chello for us it was some fine music i love hearing live music the temple prez came up and confermed her and her boss from south carolina came up to baptize her we went to a nice restraunt afterwards and i had a wood fried fired pezzia the reason i said fried is because that night i kept saying fried insted of fired it reminded me of that place back home the rock it was a fun experince to be able to be with friends and converse together we did not get anything from the hurricane but a cold frount came through and it has been cold sence i am getting transfered on wed so no letters til i get to my new area i gave my final testimony yesterday at church i will miss all the great members and people i have come to love here but i felt like it was time even before transfer calls i almost always know it is coming we are quite busy today with the packing and activities we want to do it is funny how every pday is filled with so much that it does not feel like we are relaxing at all as far as things i need i just want a care package with what you feel i would like be careful on not sending too much candy because it was after all halloween and alot of the members load up missionaries some money would be nice what i want to do with it is get things dry cleaned and buy the necessary things for my new area because i will end my mission there also buy some last minute suvineeres for you guys and myself i love you and i have learned how to be thrifty on my mission love you guys and i will talk to you next week posted by unknown at 9 06 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest 10 22 12 hey y all this week was great christie has a baptizimal date for the 3rd of november things are going well for there family we contacted a less active a while back and she came to church this week after not comming for 6 months to a year ago tova is a great lady that has lots of things going on in her life so tim was not there for our apointment this week so we do not know what is up with him this week so mark used to be and still is a hippie he enjoys the taste of beer so he has a non acoholic beer quite often in the hour we were there we saw him finish one beer and open 2 new ones as well so we are going to try to contact him this week love y all elder howard posted by unknown at 9 04 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest 10 15 12 hey so it was great for most of the week we got the news from rafa ward mission leader in huntersville that christie one of the part member families that we are working with has been taking the lessons down in south carolina with family so we have a lesson set up for thursday and christie wants to be baptized i will hopefully be here for it though transfers are the first week in november on the 7th we had interviews with our mission president on sunday after stake conference elder theel is still a great companion and i love serving with him we trust each other i guess now elder theel i know is the type that has to know you before he trusts you timothy is a member that wants to return we visited with him this week and we found out he is going through a very rough time with a few family members being sick and one i think passed away recently along with no job and everything else that is coming down on him rough week for him we found this guy named mark this week he is a unique person one that i have not met on my mission he told us his past and we came to an agreement later on that he is a hippie the news about chris is great i love hearing about him so nic is on the volleyball team that is great hey nic i love volleyball too when i get the chance out here on the mission to play i enjoy it hey guess what as long as you are hiting the ball right it does not hurt as bad it takes practice and work hard so i can see you play when i get home k ben i wish i had my bowling ball and some money to actually get to bowl i do not like using the balls they have at the bowling alley posted by unknown at 9 01 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest tuesday october 9 2012 10 1 12 and 10 7 12 i stayed in huntersville cornelius and my new companion is elder theel he is from olalla washington he is the companion i have been praying for i am so greatful so conference was great yesterday and saturday we planned to go to the church on saturday when we got there the sister missionaries had already looked in the chapel and it had not been set up this was like 10 min before it was supposed to start so we frantically tried to set it up 10 min after conference started we finally got it set up so we missed the first 10 15 min of the actual conference but we did get to hear later that missionaries were going to be able to serve earlier this past week was a great week we received a media referral for a less active member who would like to return to church so we dropped our plans for the day and headed over to where they lived when we got there his mother was siting on the doorstep one thing to note everyone in north carolina has a porch and they always use them in the summer to relax and enjoy the outside so we contacted them and they invited us in christie and tim are the mom and son the son is the member and the mother is not we shared alma 32 the famous faith sermon when we returned the following day brent showed up and we shared the restoration the spirit was so strong in the house that brent had to leave the room he got a little emotional during the first vision we have a return appointment for tuesday tim was not able to come to the church to watch conference this weekend we will find out why on tue on sunday yesterday we were not planning on going this way home but elder theel turned into a neighborhood that a less active lives so we figured we would see how they are doing tova is her name when she answered the door i could tell she was very reserved and holding back something which most people do when we first meet them anyways as we started the conversation we brought up some of the missionaries that used to serve in huntersville when we did she opened up and the spirit was so strong tova told us what was bothering her it was a very spirit led contact tova was having a very tough week and it was a good relief for her to finally get it out so my favorite talk was jeffry r holland i love the way he talks it was also great to understand more about what happened to the early apostles just 3 years they were with the savior and yet they were called and learned so much i also like how he talked towards the missionaries as well i feel that with the younger age for the young men it will be a good thing so they can go strait from high school to being called to serve there will no longer be a limbo age the church was having problems with the young men choosing to go to collage and choosing not to serve or getting into trouble and not being able to serve for the young women it is also a good thing because more will be able to serve and still be totaly ready to be of age to be married i think a lot of young woman want to serve but were not able to for many reasons love y all elder joshua howard posted by unknown at 10 14 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest wednesday october 3 2012 9 17 12 and 9 24 12 a few weeks back president obama had a democratic convention in charlotte nc charlotte is actually south of me there were 2 billboards put up by and atheist group one was very anti mormon the other anti christian this was a week before the convention few members noticed this unfriendly act and sister hazembuller wrote a letter she said in the letter how charlotte area is a great place to live people are going to be coming to charlotte and do they want to remember a negative comment someone made on a billboard because of sister hazembullers example a lot of other people agreed wither so the billboards were taken down it is amazing what a righteous example can do to affect an entire city now that i have an understanding of the gospel of jesus christ everything else is an addition to it it is sometimes funny at church because i sit in sunday school and when the teacher asks a question i already have a few scriptures and something to say the teacher also knows we have the answer and sometimes will say ok everyone but the missionaries have an answer to this question i get a laugh out of it i have thought a lot about my mission so far the times i have been the most happy is when i have done what i know is right the times i have been the most unhappy or sad have been when i have done what i know is wrong we cannot hide our sins from god he knows and we know we come on mission to change if you are on a mission and have no desire to change then why are you on a mission jesus christ has suffered for all why make him suffer any more then he has too i love my savior very much he is the way the truth and the light of the world i have come to know in a very real way our heavenly father knows us individually and by name i have enjoyed my experience on my mission you will if you let the lord in change who you are i love music hymns music can relieve stress bring the spirit and calm a troubled heart my hope is that i stay focused and be the light so others can see i do not know what god has in store for me when i get home but i guess i will buckle up and hold on tight i sure do love y all a lot elder joshua howard posted by unknown at 7 38 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest monday september 10 2012 9 10 12 hey everyone missionary work is going great we have taught a lot of people this week one lesson we taught was very memorable we went on an exchange this past week with the zone leaders over all the missionaries in the stake and went tracting we happened to knock into a street that was full of people that spoke spanish hispanic we decided it was a good idea to bring someone in the ward that spoke the same language too bad i cant speak spanish the family that came was the reeders elder carter knocked one side of the street with the mom dad and sister and i knocked the other with the two sons age16 and 14 the two sons and i knocked into a lady that spoke only spanish so again no spanish for me the great thing about this was i had already done a lesson in spanish with victor so i kinda knew what i was doing the sons did most of the teaching i was basically just there to guide them in the right direction and answer questions they did not know after the lesson was over the 14 year old said that felt really good i like how even though i was unable to understand without translation the language of the spirit is the same it still feels good this week like i said was full of teaching people elder carter said it feels like i am a missionary again to answer your question about the leadership responsibility in your letter it felt like everything was happening all at the same time i felt like a teacher putting a stack of papers on your desk and said here this is due in the morning i guess the feeling of overwhelmed unqualified and responsibility i have figured out how to follow jesus christ and still have fun i love y all elder howard posted by unknown at 10 26 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook share to pinterest 9 3 12 well this week was good we were able to go to 2 ward labor day partys one for the lake norman ward and the other for the huntersville ward today we ran a 5k which people say equaled out to about 3 miles lets just say i am tired and sweaty when writing this e mail soccor was fun as well i did not get to play much because by the time i finnished my 9 laps around this track they had finished we are having dificulty getting people to teach elder carter went on an exchange this week elder schauerhamer came to huntersville and we knocked doors sence we are covering both wards our mission prezedent has said not to attend both sacrament meetings so we are trading off between one this week the other next week we get the car back on wednesday we have been on bikes this entire week my legs i can already tell are going to be sore for a while because of the distance i ran today some of it i had to walk because of how far 3 miles is i had a nice convesation with a lot of the members though i have noticed i know more of the huntersville ward people than the lake norman ward so i guess what i am saying is i feel closer to the huntersville ward elder carter is just getting used to all the excitement and the new people we see it takes about 3 months to get conferable with an area well i look forward to hearing from you soon love y all lots elder joshua howard posted by unknown at 10 24 am no comments email this blogthis share to x share to facebook
