without killing them the last thing you want to do is give them an arterial bleed arterial blood is not black it s not even close to black it s the reddest red you have ever seen if it s in an artery that means it is freshly oxygenated it just came from the heart and it is so bright fucking red it might as well be the dictionary definition i could almost buy this as an artistic description choice for blood from a vein which is going to be a little darker but an artery no now with a little more intentionality and better writing you could perhaps actually use black and arterial to convey
