rail freight transport has become an area of focus at the fra particularly as the industry uses longer trains over the past decade the fra reported significant improvements in rail safety because of corridor 36 the nec future plan consists of four components also known as the selective alternative that are improve rail service modernize nec infrastructure expand rail capacity and study new haven
