thatlittleegyptologist answered because he wanted to be that is the simplest explanation i can give you without rampant speculation based on precisely nothing some say marfan syndrome but we have his body and he doesn t have that and others have suggested inbreeding but again there s no real evidence of that because his parents weren t related so the simplest answer holds true he was moving away from the established culture and creating his own so he did it because he wanted that change in art too eta documentaries don t lie they just have no requirement to tell the truth so a lot of what you do see if it s not fronted by an expert in the field though even sometimes with those too is that they exaggerate or embellish the truth for their own narrative this ends up being yeah that s true but not for that reason or that s true but you re wildly overstating the importance or that s only true if you ignore the other facts which you are doing a lot of these embellishments exaggerations rely on you not knowing the full context because they genuinely don t think you ll be interested in the boring nuanced parts so tv cuts those out rudjedet also and i don t have time to go into this with pictures now because i m in the bath and once i get out i ll have to pack for our getaway but akhenaten s art changes didn t even come out of nowhere you start seeing an elongation of limbs changing of the eyes and overall movement to a style that s reminiscent of amarna art in the sculptures and art commissioned by akhenaten s grandfather thutmose iv the thing akhenaten did the same way he acted with regards to the shift to atenism was to push those changes almost overnight and push them to their logical extreme because he did want that break with the previous style so instead of a more or less steady art development like you see in previous periods it s a very sudden break that to the untrained eye can look clean i e without precedent it just does have that precedent and akhenaten used
