my happy scrap space skip to main skip to sidebar my happy scrap space monday april 10 2023 darkroom door dt this happened hello darkroom door fans today i have a couple of journal spreads to share with you created for darkroom door and featuring the brand new this happened small stamp i really love the size and versatility of this stamp you can choose to stamp the whole stamp onto cardstock and cut out the quotes as you need them i stamped the whole stamp several times onto a sheet of smooth white cardstock actually i filled the whole sheet for instant quotes to cut out later or you can cut the stamp into individual sentiments to stamp onto projects as required for my projects today i have cut the stamp apart into individual sentiments and stamped them as headings for future pages in my journal i have decorated the edges of my pages using darkroom door small stencils with distress inks and various stamps to suit the theme i stamped the sentiments using ranger jet black archival ink and doodled around them using a fine black pen i love the effect of layering the stencils starting with the background and then the leaves a good tip is to start with the lightest colour first darkroom door dt small glass dome hi all i am back today with a set of cards i created for darkroom door featuring the brand new small glass dome eclectic stamp there are so many darkroom door stamps that will fit inside this glass dome the fun is going through your stamps and trying different things i chose to put plant specimens inside mine i then added some poor confused butterflies trying to get to the plants to make these cards i first stamped the splatter background stamp onto a piece of smooth white cardstock cropped to fit my card front i used ranger seafarer archival ink to stamp it and then fried with a heat gun next i pressed my speckled egg distress oxide ink pad onto a heat resistant craft sheet and spritzed with water i swiped the stamped piece through the ink and set aside to dry once dry i ruled a line across the piece using a waterproof black pen to create somewhere for the dome to sit i then coloured it with some watercolour paint i inked the edges of the piece and added it to my card front next i stamped the small glass dome onto another piece of smooth white cardstock using jet black archival ink i also stamped the dome onto a piece of printer paper to create a mask to create the mask i just cut out the glass area of the stamped image i then placed this over the image stamped on the cardstock and lined it up so that only the glass area of the dome was exposed i applied the splatter background stamp over this using a lighter blue sky blue archival ink i used an ink blending tool to add a little weathered wood distress ink to the glass area i coloured the base of the dome using some brown watercolour paint once dry i stamped a small branch from the bold blossoms rubber stamp set once the ink and paint were all completely dry i applied a layer of distress embossing ink to the glass area of the dome and heat set with ultra thick clear embossing powder i repeated this step for a lovely smooth glass like finish i added the dome to the card front using 3d foam to finish i stamped some butterflies from the butterflies rubber stamp set and a sentiment using the word stamps in the you are everything rubber stamp set and added to the featuring the gorgeous new scribble daisy eclectic stamp for my projects today i have paired the scribble daisy stamp with the new terracotta pot eclectic stamp for my first card i stamped three scribble daisies onto hot pressed smooth watercolour paper using ranger jet black archival ink i dried the ink with a heat gun and then coloured the flowers using watercolour paints i let the first application of paint dry and then added more intense colour in the centre once this layer was dry i added and indigo watercolour paint to the flower centre once the flowers were completely dry i used a fine white posca pen acrylic paint pen to add dots in the centre i stamped some stems and a leaf using the scribble flowers rubber stamp set as well as the terracotta pot on the watercolour paper with the same ink once the ink was dry i painted the images using watercolour paints i used a paintbrush to add watercolour paint to parts of the spanish tiles background stamp and applied to a piece of smooth white cardstock cut to size i dried the background with a heat gun doodled around the edge with a black pen and added to my card front i cut a slit in the terracotta pot to look like a mound of dirt and coloured accordingly just with a texta then i assembled all of the elements to create a pot of flowers i added to the card front using 3d foam for added dimension i finished off the card with a sentiment from the enjoy today small stamp here s another card i created in the same way this time when i added the watercolour paint in the centre i used a skewer to drag out the colour into lines i stamped up some extras because these flowers will make awesome collage fodder for future projects and because they are just so fun to colour you can experiment with different colours mediums featuring the brand new overlapping blocks background stamp now as soon as i saw this awesome background stamp it gave me 70 s vibes so cool so groovy those shapes are just calling out to be coloured in so i googled 70 s colour palettes and coloured my stamped images accordingly for both of my cards i applied the overlapping blocks background stamp on smooth white cardstock using ranger archival ink in jet black i dried the ink with a heat gun to ensure it wouldn t smudge and muddy up my colouring i then chose coloured pencils to match the colour scheme and coloured all of the shapes so easy and so fun i fussy cut a lady from the front of a sewing pattern and coloured her in to match i stamped the vinyl record eclectic stamp and coloured that too i also stamped some music notes from the melody rubber stamp set and some circles from the simply circles rubber stamp set i coloured the circles then added everything to my card front along with some messy thread the sentiment is from the brand new this happened small stamp here s my second card created in exactly the same way but featuring the vw beetle photo stamp and ransom alphabet rubber stamp set for the sentiment darkroom door spreads to share with you created for darkroom door and featuring the brand new eyes rubber stamp set how cool is this set they are a fantastic starting point to help you sketch a face which is what i have done in my art journal for my first art journal spread i wanted to road test the small eyes in the set i simply stamped three sets of eyes using ranger jet black archival ink in my dylusions square ledger creative journal then i sketched faces bodies and hair around the eyes i absolutely love how easy the eye stamps made it to sketch a face and they took away the worry of drawing wonky eyes next i coloured my girls with watercolour paint adding some shading around the face the paper in this journal is not specifically designed for watercolour but it held up really well once i had all of my paint applied i set it aside to dry once the pages were dry i added in some finer details and shading with coloured pencils and acrylic paint pens next i added some stencilling using a few different darkroom door stencils and white gesso you can find the details of all the stencils i used below in the product list i finished the spread by adding the fabulous friends quote stamp and a using acrylic paints and details added using acrylic paint pens and coloured pencils once i had finished painting the face i stamped the eyes onto a strip of paper cut from another page in the same journal and stuck down on the page i applied the diamonds stencil in the large and small sizes to the background using a grey acrylic paint and stamped the harlequin texture stamp on there too using
