harrison family skip to main skip to sidebar sunday september 13 2009 its not possible it doesn t seem quite possible that shane can be 4 years old already it seems like just yesterday that they placed him in my arms and yet so much has changed since then shane is now a very sweet dramatic opinionated active little boy with wisdom and understanding beyond his years he continues to amaze me and make me smile each and every day i love his wit and charm and his compassion he is a wonderful big brother thanks shane for being you posted by amanda at 10 11 pm 1 comments tuesday september 1 2009 are we there yet at the end of july the kids and i joined ken on a business vaction trip up the central coast stopping in ventura solvang and pismo beach our final destination was sacramento where we spent a week before coming back home all in all both kids did an amazing job all i gotta say is thank heavens for portable dvd players and redbox rentals shane was so excited to toast marshmallows in the backyard such a beautiful day at pismo beach we ate lots of yummy treats in solvang mini golf in santa maria when ken s family was in town for kendyl s blessing we went to the aquarium played at the beach and had a picnic with a rousing game of duck duck goose at the park kendyl was blessed on july 12th in the same dress that was bought for her aunt laura it was also worn by one of ken s cousins posted by amanda at 9 20 pm 0 comments thursday july 2 2009 where does the time go its hard to believe that more than a month has passed since kendyl has joined our family she is such a sweet little girl she loves to be held and cuddled here are some pictures from the last couple of weeks one month pictures cute girl with an angry face first mini pony posted by amanda at 3 46 pm 3 comments wednesday june 3 2009 everyone warned me when i found out in december that i was having a girl everyone warned me that girls are more difficult than boys i agreed that this would probably be the case but did not think it would happen so soon my pregnancy with this precious little girl lasted two weeks longer than her brother s and included one long night of 4 hours of false labor her delivery was completely different also with shane i arrived at the hospital dilated 5 cm and in fully active labor he was born 6 1 2 hours later with only an hour of pushing kendyl decided to be a little more stubborn i was dilated 3 cm when i got to the hospital at 9 pm i labored through the night waiting for contractions to develop more consistently and to fully dilate at 4 30 am my water finally broke at 7 am i began pushing i pushed for an hour with very little success the nurse had me rest for an hour and let nature take its course i started pushing again at 8 30 and little or should i say big kendyl was born at 9 30 she was 9 lbs 3 oz and 19 3 4 inches at birth although it was a much more difficult labor and delivery she is a precious little girl and worth every second of pain and agony at a week and a half old she is she has actually proven to be quite an easy baby she eats well sleeps well and rarely cries i am enjoying dressing her in all the cute little girl outfits and couldn t wait to get to the store to get some bows for her hair it is a crime to have a little girl with this much hair and no accessories now for the part everyone has been waiting for tell jesus not to put any more babies in your tummy after shane found out we were no longer his primary teachers i m sad you re not my teachers anymore but i m still going to live here with you guys there s too many people in this world and when asked what we should with all the extra people put them in rockets and send them into outer space but we should send their houses too so they have never happens again in our typical fashion we re going to dump almost 3 months worth of fun into one long glorious post and because the geniuses at blogger make adding photos the most counterintuitive process ever we ll keep the words short february lots of trips to disneyland saw seal and heidi klum riding the astro orbiters shane made valentines cookies we spent a weekend in la that was basically an excuse to eat all sorts of junk food and take a few pictures my verdict sprinkles cupcakes is massivley overated but diddy riese is legit dirty mexian food on olivera street is also as good as advertised my cookie back off march we ll just assume march was great since there s no photographic evidence to support it april shane hunts for eggs our clever plan to run a string throughout the house to lead shane to his easter basket goes awry when i trip over it in the middle of the night shane goes to the beach with his grandma and auntie laura shane dresses up as indiana jones he created that outfit himself just going through his clothes the kid knows style posted by ken at 11 14 pm 2 comments sunday february 8 2009 maternity leave amanda informed me today that she s done blogging until after the baby s born the irony here is that she hasn t posting anything since november that may be the longest maternity leave ever however she gets a free pass for making dessert this evening if you ever buy the raw costco tortillas try cooking them with some melted chocolate chips then topping them with ice cream and chocolate sauce it s the closest thing to the chocolate chip calzone at claim jumper greatest dessert ever we ve had a busy two and a half months i spent 26 of the first 28 days of december on the road the majority of which was our 16 day road trip to palm springs and then edh for christmas we also spent 5 days in utah in early january for a work training snowboard trip followed by my cousin s missionary farewell the bad news is we left the camera at home so no pictures of shane s first visit to the snow our travel schedule has slowed even mine so now it s back the old routine with the ocasional trips to disneyland and the beach amanda s stomach is still growing and the baby is in almost constant movement our assumption is that the kid won t last in there until may 26th as far as names go we re leaning towards kendyl mostly because i m a narcissit and want each of my kids to have some portion of my name the other option is kayla but i d be too tempted to always refer to her by her first and middle name kayla jane in a southern accent a quick two
