and use water and the milder electrolyte drink of your choice the rest of the time if you re seriously in a bind eat a pickle or some olives drink pickle brine i m not kidding kalamata olives are my favorites i call them sodium bombs if you normally dislike pickles pickle brine but a sip tastes sweet or good to you you are low on salt and you need to sit and rest and drink some more right now if you know you have a sodium deficiency then carry some salt with you to mix in with your water gatorade or just to take straight a pinch at a time i have several friends with medical issues that carry a small jar of salt on them in the lanes for this purpose if you physically cannot drink enough liquid to keep you hydrated i can t my stomach can only take so much liquids before it revolts then add in what we call crunchy water cucumber celery watermelon apples grapes etc watermelon grapes and cucumbers have been best for me especially when chilled they help hydrate you help you eat and when chilled help lower your core temperature and on that note remember to eat my appetite dies when i get hot and i have to consciously remind myself to eat something fruits and veggies are great for this because i can graze on them add in cheese or a boiled egg or dried meats for protein a metal cigar holder off amazon filled with ice placed against the sternum can help lower your core temperature for those as have tits shove that sucker between them and rejoice for those that don t get a little fabric bag to put it in or wrap some wire around it to hold it and hang it from your neck against your chest i made a chainmail holder for mine and with regular ice refills this thing along with the other strategies listed has kept me alive in 100 degree heat while wearing several layers of black
