valeryanne designs march 2012 pages home butterfly challenge saturday march 31 2012 it s a blue day rubbish not on your nelly these are snippets left over from my large paper rose making mahem all will be revealed on a later post cue the fabby die i won on fiona s blog lots of die cutting later and now their rubbish i wanted to enter the challenge on joan s gardens this week and as its using up loads of tiny bits of off cuts it is perfect also for pixie s snippets the challenge is to cover a 3 x3 post a note use some kind of die cut for the background purple is the colour and use a butterfly or something from nature ok got that i used an off cut of 300gsm cream card and an embossing folder with a flower shape not unlike the flower die for the cover and brushed over with yellow peralescent chalk corners were cut out using the sizzix corner trellis die from an off cutof white stock card which i then painted using sunflower luminarte paint flowers were painted using winsor newton ink colour 971 violet layered up with a bead in the centre they look quite like small viola s bird shape was cut from pale yellow card stock and the twirly bits are meantt to look like his wings the top page of the pad is decorated using the single petals to keep the page flat and a further corner florish bitterly disapointed in the way the photo is depicting the flowers as being blue they aren t has won themselves a wee goody bag into the bargain contents being kath kitson note book flower and a wee felt pin cushion both hand made by me mich from mcrafts was 1st past the winning post so mich shaped card here and thought i would have a go at making one the design backing paper i have used is from my dear blogging friend barbara and was among some sheets that i recently won on her blog this is such a pretty paper that i just had to use it straight away the card was cut from blue craft paper from my stash and also the pink lace i trimmed the front edge of the desgin paper using an edge punch to create the pattern and attached to the base butterfly was a die cut twice glued back to back and then bent into the required shape i made the little flowers using a small six petal punch and painted them using luminarte paint pots in matching colours to the paper i printed out a sentiment in word and die cut into an oval shape and adhered to a larger oval and attached to the front lastly i added the wally shrink plastic heart button which i coloured with a blue water colour pencil card has now been sent to my mum who has just come out of hospital and is still very poorly entering into this is the tag i have done for tag tuseday the theme this week is goosey i haven t got a gooose stamp or any goose related pictures but i do have puddleduck pothington by toodles and binks so i have this post it note holder swap over at the altered paper and as they have now been both sent and received it is safe to show the idea was to alter a piece of chipboard or sturdy card 5 5 x 7 5 by decorating with paper ribbons lace and anything else you fancied and attach a post it note pad to the front my partner fran does not have a blog so i was rather in the dark as to her likes and dislikes but in the end went for pretty pretty the backing paper was a freebie in a craft magazine and all the rest came from my stash so i have stuck to my uiu pledge i made the flowers from white 140gsm cartridge paper which i painted using luminarte paint pots in various colours to match the backing paper butterfly came from my blogging friend ann there is a wally shrink plastic heart button can say is keep em coming fran posted by mrs a at 20 25 30 comments sunday march 18 2012 more cake yummy another card for di s crafty snippets whilst having a rummage last week for the kite material i sorted some material out to make this card for fluff the colour is a bit off as the card stock is the same colour as the sentiment paper and the backing paper is actually a pale lemon with dark brown spots on the icing has come out blue instead of pale purple chose those colours as they are fluff s favourites material is snippets i have had for ages and not big enough to make any clothing or patchwork with hundreds and thousands are yellow seed beads left over from another project the cupcake was made up on quilt backing and then each section of the icing was stuffed seperately from behind and finally the whole cake was dst to the backing paper it has quite a 3d effect in real life entering into the following challenges the poodle parlour anything goes cupcake crafts going dotty over at the altered paper swap group we were instructed to make a pin cushion any design we liked and to include three stick pins as decoration this is the pincushion i decided to make for my partner elisabet i found out that her favourite colours were burnt orange and teal and found some beads in my stash that were those colours the rest as they say is history yes there is a wally shrink plastic heart button on it can you spot it here is the pin cushion that elisabet sent me back all my vavourite colours too thanks for being my partner elisabet and hope we can do one together again soon either shopped locally or sent for it by post from any of the various shops that advertised in the craft magazines of the day if you enclosed an s a e the shops would send you out little snippets in bags of the current choice of fabrics available to buy of course i still have those swatches neatly sorted into colours and stashed away to be used one day as they were always too small to use in patchwork well today s the day out they came and i had a route around for some colours and snippets to use in a few challenges first up is di s snippets challenge 11 i had seen this idea in a crafting magazine by corinne bradd using coloured paper and decided to adapt it using material and shrink plastic for the kites tail piece you can all have 6 goes at finding the wally heart button this time everything i have used is bits of this and bits of that i am also entering it into di s snippets challenge the green and yellow lace have both been in my stash since i last made the costumes for the dancing school i once co owned over 3 decades ago the ribbon by comparison is a newbie at only just a yr old but still an off cut none the less flowers were made using a 1 6 petal punch and an off cut of sktech pad paper painted using luminarte paint pots in shades of yellow orange pink i m loving using these pots and they are fast becoming my fav product for the year note to sherry look i have even left the threads hanging and of course the back where the wally shrink plastic heart button is hiding entering into the following challenges my mums craft shop spring is springing ginger loft there were two on my desk made these for di s snippet challenge 9 i saw this butterfly idea in a magazine with several butter flies on the card using the martha stewart punch all over the page die but as i don t have it i had to make do with just the one large one instead i used snippets for the double sided butterfly and the flourish which is attached to the top of the card realised after i had done it that i could have just die cut the flourish from the card as well as the butterfly not very clear from the picture but i used up some brown seed beads for the body had these rub on transfers by pergamano in my stash and really pleased with the results big difference from the letter and number transfers we had as kids yes before you ask the all inmportant question i do still have them says wh smith on the packet and even tells me they are in hevetica 24pt no point scoring for the wally shrink plastic heart button couldn t go anywhere else really entering into the following challenges flutter by wednesday open showing butterfly angel or fairy divas by design spots and or stripes do you stack up things with wings all sorts spread your wings the crazy challenge anything goes my second card is using up snippets from already used snippets namely the green stem and leaves from the paper used on the grass in the bunny card i made previously again the flower is my version of an idea seen in a magazine on a step card the ribbon is a 12 piece that i have had in my stash for decades 3 at least debated long and hard where to hide the wally plastic shrink heart button but in the
