weeks for christmas and then went off to college my baby girl is gone she is off on her own learning growing and having new experiences i guess that is part of the reason it is hard to let her go because i know that she is never really coming back she is a grown up now it is exactly where i want her to be progressing and moving forward but it is still hard to cut those apron strings lorin was in a pretty serious automobile accident he was working driving the rescue truck on his way to a call when he was t boned it totally destroyed the rescue it was a 17 year old kid driving the suv all i have to say about it is that there were angels abounding lorins back is pretty jacked up but he is ok he will recover his partner is ok she took the worst of the hit the 2 kids in the suv are alive the worst injury to them was a broken femur everyone was watched over and protected it is still incredible to me every time i think of it it has been weird but nice having lorin home so much he is on light duty he is able to spend so much more time with us i mostly like it tevin is loving having him here to spend time with brighton was diagnosed with cancer just that word alone freaks me out her surgery is scheduled for feb 2 i thought i was doing ok about this whole thing but i keep finding myself crying when i think about it i would do anything to take it away from her anything it s weird because you hear of people with cancer everyday other people not real actual people not people you know and love it s not supposed to happen to your family not your daughter in 29 years of marriage i could probably count on 1 hand the number of times i have seen lorin cry one of them was in the movie backdraft and this has truly taken its toll on him it scared me he is my rock he is strong and the labels brighton daughters family lorin tuesday december 17 2013 my testimony so i may have mentioned that i have a friend who has decided that the church isnt for her any longer i dont share her beliefs i know the church is true anyway since this whole experience has started i have been praying to my heavenly father to strengthen my testimony each day to help me be strong in my faith even when i have questions i want to tell you what happened today i have been reading the book of mormon and nearing the end i knew today would be the day that i finished it i have also been saying a little prayer before i start reading each day to learn something new or to have better understanding things like that so as i said i knew i would finish it today so in my prayer i asked heavenly father to reaffirm the truthfulness of this book i ve read it before so i already have a testimony of its truthfulness i just wanted to have it confirmed again this verse is in moroni 10 4 5 4 and when ye shall receive these things i would exhort you that ye would a ask god the eternal father in the name of christ if these things are not b true and if ye shall ask with a c sincere heart with d real intent having e faith in christ he will f manifest the g truth of it unto you by the power of the holy ghost 5 and by the power of the holy ghost ye may a know the b truth of all things as i was reading this verse the sweetest feeling came over me i really don t know how to describe it other than a warm cozy tingly feeling it just felt so good it made me feel like my chest would explode from being so full of joy it definitely confirmed for me once again the truthfulness of this book which in turn confirms that this church the church of jesus christ of latter day saints is the only true church that joseph smith was a prophet of god that president thomas s monson is a prophet of god that jesus christ is my savior and he loves me i am so thankful for that witness once again posted by the noorda monkeys at 2 14 pm 0 comments labels church testimony monday december 16 2013 i did it it has been 6 months and 3 days since i was hit by a car on my road bike can you believe that i have not been on my road bike in all that time i haven t even hardly glanced at it it was like i didn t want to even acknowledge it because every time i would even think about it i would start to freak out it was that scary for me but today lorin asked me if i would go on a ride with him i knew it was time to face the fear i said ok and then immediately regretted it but i went and got ready to go i haven t worn my riding gear since the accident my shirt has a blood stain on the chest and my helmet and sunglasses were smashed i had to use one of lorins old helmets lorin had found some trails over by summerlin parkway that he wanted to go explore so he got the bikes all ready and loaded up we got in the suburban and headed out on the way over my chest felt really tight and i had to turn and look out the window so lorin wouldn t see that i was about to lose it and start bawling i was able to hold it together but just barely it made me so afraid to even think about it we got to the park where the trail started and got ready to go they were trails you could ride your bike on or people could walk or jog on it wasn t even near a road i was so relieved we started going and it was really fun although you could definitely tell that it had been forever since i had ridden it was hard after awhile we came to the end of the trail and couldn t see where to go to cross under or over the road without going directly on the road holy crap i think i almost threw up and i m pretty sure i had a death grip on the handle bars but you know what helped me the theme for youth conference next year is a season for courage i kept thinking about looking those kids in the face and knowing i was a big fat fake chicken if i didn t do this i knew i had to do it for that reason i kept going even though there were cars driving close to me we were only on the road for a total of maybe 5 minutes but it seemed like an eternity but i did it i did it we also went 12 miles on the way back to the car there was a long kinda downhill straight away and it was so fun it felt like i was flying i loved it i am so glad lorin helped me take that first step in conquering this fear i am so thankful he is so comments labels accident fitness lorin friday november 29 2013 black friday today was black friday i have gone shopping on black friday for as long as i can remember always sometimes by myself and sometimes with others for the last few years mostly with darci and brighton this year i did not it was kinda sad i looked through the ads and there really wasn t anything i had to have nothing i slept in til 7 30ish that was nice but i do have an embarrassing story to tell you i always go buy a newspaper thanksgiving morning this year i got up at 6 00 and went to 7 11 no luck they hadn t gotten them yet so i decided to go to albertsons still no luck but the manager said they should be coming any moment because they usually came about 6 00 it was then 6 10 am so i decided to wait i waited an hour still no paper then i looked up and my friend ray blanchard was walking into the store he was looking for a paper also i told him i would buy him one if he would go check out the smiths someone had just reported that there was a kid selling them on the corner over there he said great he would go check i told him i wanted 3 me darci and brighton he said ok after about 10 minutes he called me and said he had them i was so excited i told him i would wait outside the store and how much were they he said they were 3 00 i said ok so he brought me 3 papers and i gave him a 5 00 bill he looked at me kinda weird and i looked at him to see if he would offer me change which i would ve said keep it for his trouble but he didn t i said thanks and got in my car then as i was almost to brightons house i had a thought 3 00 total or 3 00 each i checked when i got to brightons 300 each i was so embarrassed i ran back to the store he had gone inside but he was already gone i called him 3 times before he answered i apologized profusely and told him i had thought it was 3 00 total he kinda laughed and said it was ok i asked him where he was and that i would bring him the rest of the money he comments labels friends good times thursday november 28 2013 thankful today is thanksgiving as i was riding my bike this morning i just started thinking of all the things i am grateful for it became to long to list so here are a few i am thankful for the gospel and how much it means in my life god for sending his son jesus christ to atone for me me for jesus christ loving me enough to give his life for me i will forever be in his debt my husband and what a good man he is always my kids my married into our family kids devin juston and rose we are so blessed to have them in our family even more so because they chose us and stayed even though they saw how crazy we are they are the best kids and kid in laws ever i couldn t ask for better kids my cutest ever grandkids they just make me smile the hugs and kisses from my grandkids our house lorins job the kids schools and teachers especially jennie lamb who was tevins teacher flowers the sky exercising my bike one day i will have the courage to get back on it my parents who taught me so many high values and standards and helped me become who i am today my siblings my sisters are 2 of my best friends our ward family many good friends extended family chinese food cheeseburgers ice cream candy doughnuts being able to craft our cars especially our suburban if i could pick a dream car that would be it i love that vehicle tuesday november 26 2013 game on so i think i told you that i am playing game on again with a hard core group it has been a really good experience so far this past week was week 3 i didn t make my weight i am so mad at myself weigh in is monday morning as of sunday night i had lost the weight i needed to to get a perfect score and it was a free day so technically i really didn t have to eat anything and it would ve been fine but nooooo i had to have some of tevins halloween candy plus some of those orange pumpkins you get at halloween plus milk plus who knows what else as i was eating the pumpkins i had the thought if you don t make your weight you know it will be your own fault i knew it but ate it anyway i totally convinced myself that all would be well if i just ate a little i did only eat about 8 instead of 10 handfuls right i knew it and still did it i could ve kicked myself i gained over a pound seriously i am so dumb then to make it even worse i lost 1 5 lbs this morning why do i do that to myself why don t i have any self control i am really glad this game is going for 8 weeks instead of the regular 4 maybe i will learn some new skills this time around i know i wont be eating crap again the night before a weigh in that s for sure there has to be a gospel lesson in there right it s only a little sin it ll be ok it won t hurt me i ll be fine on a good note speak in sacrament meeting i m excited to hear him talk it will be his first time he gets to choose any subject from the for the strength of youth pamphlet he has narrowed it down to tithes offerings physical mental health or repentance he is really nervous to talk i ll let you know how it goes lorin said he wants to take the day off of work so he can come hear him speak here is his talk he wrote this all by himself he did a great job tevin s talk hi i am tevin noorda and when brother worthington came to my house on wednesday and asked for me i knew i was in trouble and only had seconds to hide before he ask me to give a talk i was right he gave me a talk my topic that i have chosen from the for the strength of youth book is education i chose this because i think education is important for our future life but we just don t know it the more time we spend on education the better future we will have even though school isn t always the funnest place ever it pays off as we get older for high school college then eventually a job the more education we have the better our job and income will be so as we are young we should get the most out of our education because we use our knowledge every day even though we don t notice it for example our responsibilities and the chores our parents give us need knowledge to be capable of doing them education can also save our life or other people s lives in life or death situations we need to know what to do for example if my dad messed up he could die since he is a firefighter so he needs to know what he was taught and be very careful so as we grow older we have more responsibilities that need more education so the more we learn now the easier it will be later school isn t the only way to get education the scriptures also educate us the scriptures teach us about heavenly father and his plan for us also we can search the scriptures for answers to our questions the scriptures also teach us about how to be more like him and about our savior jesus christ i would like to bare my testimony that education is very important in our lives and others lives even though it s sometimes boring without education the world would be berserk and
