update 2 christmas is over and the new year is about to begin when i reflect back on 2012 it has been a very good year the best in fact for me but as i look forward to 2013 it sure seems like this year won t compare with what is to come we toke advantage of the boxing day sales this week and bought the baby furniture for the baby room half the furniture is on back order and will take awhile to arrive guess that is what happens when you buy items on such a big sale but we still have time so it s no big deal today we setup the crib and chair for the baby room it seems to be more real with each passing day in just five short months we will be welcoming home our child i have been working on the baby announcement cross stitch for 3 weeks now this past week with christmas not much was done but i had taken a progress picture after two weeks i nearly have the first bear done which is very quick for me i just hope that i will have it done in time for the baby december 21 2012 posted by joe s xstitch at 5 56 pm no comments labels baby annoucement 2013 saturday december 8 2012 my last two posts explained what i have been doing for the past year and a half in regards to my cross stitching this one is looking forward to my new project and the reason behind it as i had just told you i recently found myself a beautiful wife elly and how happy she has made me and not too long ago she told me we are expecting our first child elly is due the end of may 2013 we are very excited and can t wait she has has enjoyed seeing my cross stitching projects and asked me to stitch a baby record we picked out the tobin baby from tobin home crafts we have already said that we don t want to know if it is a boy or a girl until the big day so we were trying to find a colour neutral design i am hoping that i will be able to finish it just in time for when baby arrives so all i will need to do is stitch in the name date and weight i have just prepped everything and ready to stitch so enough blogging for one day time to get on with it december 7 2012 posted by joe s xstitch at 1 48 pm 1 comment labels baby annoucement 2013 i had not done any cross stitching for about a year at the time but in april i decided i wanted to get back into it as a way to deal with some stress i do find that cross stitching a very relaxing hobby as it frees my mind from any worries and anxieties however i wanted to be able to get something done fairly quickly to re motivate me so i didn t want to pick up either glory of autumn or silent flight as those two are a long way from being done so i decided to start fresh with mariner s light and began it in april and finished it in november with all the wedding honeymoon and moving planning going on i feel this was fairly quick at least for me this one was done on 18 count cloth and is 5 x 7 unfortunately a couple of months ago our computer crashed and we lost our hard drive where i kept most of my progress pictures so all i have to show for this project is the picture i toke before doing the back stitching and the completed picture i still need to take it to the framers so i might most one more of it hanging on the wall later october 2012 pre back stitching november 2012 complete posted by joe s xstitch at 1 27 pm no comments labels mariner s light glory of autumn update 9 wow i can t believe it has been a year and a half since i ve posted anything on my cross stitch blog the time has flown by but i know exactly where it all went while i might not have done much stitching this has been the most productive year and a half of my life during this time i have meet the most wonderful women i have ever seen elly she has brought such joy and meaning into my life i can t possibly put it into words this past summer we got married and went to jamaica for our honeymoon on top of that work has also being going very well as i have been working towards becoming a partner at my accounting firm and hope to fulfil that dream as well in the next few months there are more changes but i ll save that for in a couple of posts but i have managed to do some more cross stitching in the mean time the past month i have put some effort back into glory of autumn and made a lot of progress i couldn t believe that i had not picked this project up since january 2010 almost three years it has been fun to pick it up again and the season fall was right for it too however i need to put this one away again for awhile as i need to get to work on a new project here is the update picture as you can see i have completed the right side of the design and working my way across to the left on the bottom i hope it won t be so long before i continue on it i am now more then half way through it and can t wait to finish one of these larger projects december 6 2012 p posted by joe s xstitch at 1 12 pm no comments labels glory of autumn saturday march 26 2011 silent flight update 6 it has been a long time since my last update but i blame it all on the tax session there is only 35 days left in this year s tax session so it won t be much longer before i need to think up a new excuse for not working on the cross stitching the left side of the mountains are now complete and i have been working on the reflection shadow of the mountain in the river it is less then 2 to the bottom of the project which will be a big milestone for me march 26 2011 and as a special treat for anyone following this blog here is a picture of the back of the project not something most stitchers are willing to show but the other day i toke a good look at the back perhaps for the first time and was actually very happy with the organization of the back i always try to think of the cleanest lines for the back as i am having to jump around on the design i guess it is paying off posted by joe s xstitch at 2 24 pm 1 comment saturday december 11 2010 silent flight update 5 just a quick update on silent flight as well since it has been a month and a half not as much progress as i was hoping for but progress is progress at least you can start to see the mountain range starting to form i will be going to mexico for a vacation in just over a week so i don t expect to get much done this christmas season but there is no rush on doing these projects so i am just trying to relax and enjoy it unstead of feeling like i am way behind too slow hope start a third project but i ve really liked this design for some time it is called view from the creek it is done on 25 count fabric and will measure to be 14 x 10 3 8 or 91 350 stitches the beauty of this design is that there is no backstitching or anything of the sort i ve just gotten the supplies and would like to try and grid this time so it will be a little while before i can actually start friday october 29 2010 silent flight update 4 wow it has been almost two monthes since my last update where does the time go clearly it didn t go into cross stitching a few week ago we went camping for the last time of the year at harrison mills this is a beautiful quite spot where harrison lake meets the fraser river between the mountains i ve known for a long time there are several eagle nests in this area which is why i loved this design and that location the one always reminds me of the other i could see this design being a picture taking in this area while we were camping there a bald eagle glided right over my head it was really cool and re inspired me to work on this project again with the weather turning to fall winter there will be less going outside now and hopefully more stitching but i ve thought that before and then still not stitch that much so we will see what happens october 27 2010 posted by joe s xstitch at 1 09 pm no comments labels silent flight wednesday september 1 2010 silent flight update 3 it has been a long time since i ve posted an update with this endless sky it just feels pointless as the actual picture doesn t seem to change much but now i have about 2 3s of the endless sky completed and decided to change it up a bit and start working down onto the mountains instead of across and continue working on the sky this will add more to the picture and give me a break from these same colours i am considering trying to save the eagle for last as i thought it would look really neat to see the background complete and the space for the eagle remaining but we will see what happens in the future i may soon be complaining about the endless mountains next and need a break from them too lol september 1 2010 posted by joe s xstitch at 11 13 am no comments labels silent flight friday may 21 2010 silent flight update 2 just a quick update on my progress from the past three weeks i ve just done some more sky which seems to be endless at this point however the top of the mountain is just below where i ve stitched so far i want to get the top left sky done before i start on the mountains though as i am looking forward to the new colours for
