seum the exhibition is a great display of dresses mostly in traditional pale colours except for the stunning purple dress worn by dita von teese image victoria albert museum one dress was a particular show stopper flower bomb by ian stuart on a personal note i was really pleased and surprised to see the dress worn by lady sarah armstrong jones now chatto princess margaret s daughter for her wedding because when i was looking for a wedding dress this was on my mood board yes i had a mood board for the our wedding lol designed by jasper conran the delicate georgette and corset combination was beautiful a treat to see in reality the exhibition runs until 15 march 2015 most of the week was spent on secret things watch this space all very exciting share on december 13 2014 3 comments 7 december 2014 countdown to christmas day 7 i spent today at the artistic stamper in faversham kent where the christmas extravaganza weekend was in full swing the workshops were all about making a calendar for the coming year i thought i share the page i designed for december it has a very chritmassy wintery feel please excuse the paperclips lol its created with jofy stamps sizzix dies and artistic stamper stencils share on december 07 2014 4 comments 6 december 2014 countdown to christmas day 6 today was quite a festive day spent running a christmas card workshop at blade rubber stamps in london we made more cards than expected and was lovely to see familiar faces and meet some new people too the window at the shop has a very festive feel lots of inspiration and goodies for christmas crafting pop along to the shop or go online to see what is available xx share on december 06 2014 2 comments 5 december 2014 countdown to christmas day 5 i decorate the fireplace in our sitting room at christmas its on the opposite side of the room to the christmas tree so its nice to have something festive on each side of the room it s where i create a little winter street scene of miniature houses i ve made making one each year the houses are intertwined with led lights 2 50 for 40 in primark bargain and different types of ornamental trees i like all the different sizes of houses this little house was made last year crackleglazed with a corrugated roof but unfortunately it was broken while in storage but i think the broken antler give it character lol this little house on a rickety stack of wood was made last year i love the patina tones and the little stocking hung on the edge waiting to be filled this years house is a bit different not a decorated upcycled wood house this one made from paper and is quite simple but really effective when it is dark in amongst all those lights here s how i made it i glued pages of paper to kraft card for strength and dried it smoothing out any air bubbles i drew a little sketch of how i wanted the house to look stamped a panel of tiles for the roof using the scallop border from jofy13 love that image the top row is stamped scallop edge up all other other rows are scallop down i cut the basic house shape out and left two straight panels either side these will create the dimensional shape stop the house falling over i drew windows and doors on the reverse and started cutting them out on the outside of the house i doodled windows and doors and cut inside the designs when the room is dark and the light source only comes from the string of led lights it looks like this easy and inexpensive way to create lit decorations have a go yourselves could be quite addictive i think x share on december 05 2014 8 comments 4 when i m making cards i find that one card design can lead to another and another and then another always accompanied by ooh what happens if i add do this or that and an hour later i ve made a batch of cards these cards are all quite simple and i started by using a 3x4in pocket scrapbooking panel on each one i limited the colours used to a kraft red green black and white here are the all measuring 10x15cms cards in order of creation in the photo above reading clockwise starting top left card 1 this card started with the black music script panel face down which meant that the small circle pattern on card 4 was face up lots of these pocket scrapbooking cards come with detail on both sides but i turned it music side up to see how it looked and preferred it so kept it the snowflakes were all on my desk left over from recent projects the top one is wax paper excess from die cutting for classes the spot in the centre of the bottom snow flake is a mini puddle of metallic glaze which had dried over night on my desk craft sheet lovely accidental cabuchon card 2 is similar made up from left over snowflakes apart from the middle one which is punched out of the kraft panel i like to add sewing to cards so on this card i added a simple line across the top in red toning it in with buttons and gems the greeting is from jofy20 card 3 the snowflake punched out of card 2 wasn t going to waste i painted it with fresco finish metallic glaze layered it with a punched out circle cut a tag that was on the desk onto a patterned panel and strip of red card greeting as before card 4 when i punched the snowflake out of the kraft panel i wondered how it would look if it was mounted back in its space but on 3d foam to give depth and so thats what i did on card 4 the snowflakes along the bottom of the card are jm07 card 5 uses the tag that i cut the circle from to use on card 3 i used the circle aperture to mount another wax paper snowflake really glad i didn t throw those away after die cutting covered by a button and sewn down both sides i enjoyed making these cards relatively quick and simple to make and are a good way to use up scraps bits and pieces and create out shopping the other day just mooching about passing time while waiting for someone i popped into a charity shop treasures can be discovered there and found a matching jug perfect for holding scissors crochet hooks and other bits and pieces great to find unexpected treasures share on december 04 2014 1 comment 3 december 2014 countdown to christmas day 3 tonight festive photo is of this year s christmas tree we always have an artificial tree we have pets so this is preferable to a real tree yes i prefer an artificial tree because they re more symmetrical lol this tree was a dream to assemble 3 separate pieces with lights attached ho ho ho we haven t had one like this before but we will from now on lol no more fighting with the lights untangling them even though we are very neat at putting them away each year and trying to make them evenly spread around the tree oh yes a pre lit tree a revelation lol on the tree are all kinds of ornaments it has a sparkly woodland theme some old some new lots of dark wood twig bundles and sparkle soft gold baubles white clear baubles pine cones berries stag heads there had to be stag heads acorns crowns stars mushrooms there s even a squirrel its a lot of fun to decorate the tree hard work but worth it share on december 03 2014 5 comments 2 december 2014 countdown to christmas day 2 another quite quick n simple decoration this snowflake was created using a new die from sizzix texture fades layered snowflake one of the very useful bigz dies that comes with an embossing folder i die cut several snowflakes from corrugated cardboard to give the decoration dimension and weight and glued them together i then cut and embossed a silver snowflake and one cut from book text glued one to the back and the other to the front of the cardboard snowflake stack poked a hole through one of the points and threaded through a hanging thread looks great on the tree and will look even better when i ve created more ho ho ho share on about trying crochet again and remembered there might be a wool shop in area when i drove through last week there was a parking space and so i stopped and i m soooooo glad i did bodkins is packed full of loveliness on one wall there are buttons and ribbons be still my button loving heart the shop is l shaped and this is only 2 of the 3 walls storing wool it makes me wish my knitting and crochet skills are better than they are but thats fixable because the shop runs classes it really is a lovely shop complete with vintage shop fittings swoon and the owner was really helpful and encouraging i
