t know it i got to thinking about what i was wanting to feel when i sang so often we want to have an emotional experience when we sing to god we feel that we should either be really happy or really repentant this is not wrong sometimes this is appropriate when we are being convicted or especially lifted up but at times we feel nothing emotionally sometimes it goes deeper yes deeper sometimes emotions is as deep as we humans think we go as christians full of the holy spirit since our rebirth the state of our hearts can go so much deeper i can t even begin to describe what it s like to sing from my spirit filled heart it isn t an emotion that can be labeled nor is it explained by intellect when i truly sing for the lord there is no worry about how i sound or how i feel it isn t about me at all it is about giving a sweet sound to the lord s ear i love to hear someone who can t carry a tune in a bucket sing his her heart out to the lord part ii will be about the actual conference and what the lord taught me there i ll be talking about the other extreme from emotions to intellect both are good things given by god to man but many times misused in our relationship with the lord no comments thursday july 10 2008 i am reading a very good book by christmas carol kauffman called for one moment this poem is from this book and it really got through to me this poem was not written but was copied down by a woman whose life was filled with betrayal and heartache her husband left her for another woman taking their two boys with him she never saw the younger one again the oldest was not able to come see her for many years this son herbe joined the nazi party and was gone for a few more years her life was full of loneliness her daughter was her only comfort and even she eventually married and moved away she lived with hurt and bitterness for many years until very close to the end of her life i won t tell any more because you really should read it for yourself it matters not if cherished friends on whom i leaned in vain have wounded me by word and deed and left me with great pain what matters is can i forgive again and yet again it s not have they been true but lord have i been true to them twill matter not when evening comes how rough the road i ve trod if only i have walked with him and led some soul to god for when i wake to be like him who saved me you can post ten of your favorite things that start with that letter i received the letter d from shelley these are not in any particular order of importance because i couldn t decide for some of them which i liked more 1 delighting in the lord there is nothing like enjoying time spent with god sometimes i see something god has done big or small and just stop and delight in it 2 dinner with good friends and family don t get too busy for it 3 dessert i know i know it s silly but i really do have a sweet tooth with my gluten free diet there is even more of an adventure to be had i love finding a new recipe that will work being transformed into a gluten free egg free sometimes even sugar free yummy by the way this is a picture of a gluten free rasberry roll i think i am going to get that recipe and try it 4 daring dare to be a daniel is a song that i think of often when faced with decisions of right and wrong daniel resolved not to defile himself daniel 1 8 standing by a purpose true chicago illinois in 1873 5 dreaming i love waking up after a pleasant dream and remembering it for a while sometimes i can even dream about the same place twice even when i ve never been there in real life there are also the dreams god puts in the heart these are by far the best because someday if you seek god with all your heart these dreams will come true be careful to weed out the head dreams treasure j i think the most unique thing that i have found and bought was a dress form i haven t used it yet but i plan to maybe this summer 7 drawing i don t draw as much as i used to but i do occasionally sit down and relieve stress by doing some scribbling i love to look at art and imagine being in the picture or just analyze to see what technique the artist might have used to get a certain effect i think my favorite pictures to look at are of people quiet lanes with trees overhead and horses i also like thomas kincaid pictures his cottages and mansions are sooo pretty no i didn t draw the above sketch i never got that good 8 drama i like a truly dramatic story i don t like over dramatic stories though there is a line to be drawn somewhere between dramatic and over dramatic and it takes a great storyteller to find and stay on the right side of the line 9 dickens charles i love dickens books for their truth wit and realism and of course good drama i believe my favorite dickens book is david copperfield i have always liked david copperfield for it seemed to me a very real story and as if the story was very close to dickens heart i think i know why now for the more i read about dickens life the more i am convinced that david copperfield is very near to being an autobiography with a few dramatic fill ins 10 day by day is my favorite hymn that starts with a d playing one of my favorite programs it was the 2nd half of a man called norman pastor mike adkins tells the story of of how god used a forgotten neighbor to change his heart toward others who may not be so desirable to be around he learns to love his neighbor better than himself literally the urls to both the broadcasts are below so that you may listen yourself please listen you will be very touched encouraged or even convicted god has been laying forgotten people on my heart lately i am still seeking to find what he would have me do next when god lays something on a heart i am quite certain there must be an action due next leviticus 19 18 you shall not take vengeance nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people but you shall love your neighbor as yourself i am the lord 26 2008 i have three reasons to be posting this time 1 i have been awarded the blogging with a purpose award thank you amy for the great honor i hardly feel that i deserve it for i don t get very many
