we love our soldiers posted by catherine at 2 22 pm 0 comments wednesday march 18 2009 the lang update i decided that the lang blog needed a new post so here is a little update as much as i know and truth be told it isn t much because i find myself out of the loop more often then not which is my fault anyway okay so here is what i know kevin is keeping busy in iraq and seems to be enjoying himself on this new adventure his emails talk about some sight seeing he was able to go on you ll have to ask him the details melanni is missing kevin a lot i can t blame her i would miss my ben terribly too but she keeps super busy i am not kidding i don t know anyone that works as hard as melanni does she has a few years on me and i can hardly keep up with her she has been painting in her house and it looks great and keeping the house in order which she told me was a lot harder since kevin left when we visited last week it was great to sit down and catch up we sure miss the family david just turned 18 watch out he is off and going and making plans for after graduation in may i think but i m not entirely sure what his plans are corrine is loving high school and told me she was excited to get her driver s license next year richard is just richard melanni told me that she took him to the temple open house and they had a blast richard is growing up so fast i can hardly believe he is going to be deacon soon wait maybe is already is when is his birthday can you tell i am really on top of things today jared and vanessa sold their house and are heading out to south korea exciting they re not too sure what exactly the military has in store for them but i could tell they were ready for anything i m totally jealous they are going to have a great time their little girls ariana and emmalee are just adorable they make me wish i had a girl just not yet annelies is still at byu i think she has a year left until graduation yay she is enjoying provo and likes her job there too she is teaching the gospel doctrine class in her ward too i haven t talked to her in a while i think that is a sign i need to call her then there is us ben and catherine that s me and our two little guys sam and nephi ben is still in school but there is a light at the end of the tunnel 2 more years and we will be done yay he is majoring in electrical engineering i am a stay at home wife and mom i keep pretty busy with my boys i can t wait until all the snow melts sam is loving his special preschool and nephi loves it that sam goes to preschool so everyone wins anyway that is a brief engineered for the family i m back at school ready to start a new semester with lots of classes lots of work and little sleep my roommates and some girls in our ward had dinner together with great chicken dinner rolls alfredo and mixed veg nothing too exciting except the company of course my sunday school lesson went pretty well thanks to all the great comments made in class it s really great being in a college singles ward i am enjoying my time and looking forward to this semester posted by annelies at 6 53 pm 4 comments saturday december 27 2008 letters from dad dad sends us all emails every so often we enjoy reading his updates so much i thought it would be a shame not to share some of his experiences and thoughts so here are some excerpts from dad s recent emails at the end i have also added a little slide show of christmas in iraq on the base wednesday 12 december 2008 i m still in kuwait at camp buehring but the other camp was better when i first got here i spent one night at a nice camp i just don t understand the army we came in was separated in to groups received a briefing about how we should act in kuwait and iraq for the fifth time then sent to bed real beds in tents with cement floors i got to bed about 2 am i thought i was staying there because i was told i was going to another camp at 9 pm for more training but i asking around 7 pm and was told i would be sleeping at the next camp then when we got to the next camp we received another welcome briefing on the rules of this camp similar to the other briefings this time i got to bed at 1 am and they let us sleep all that day then for the past few days i have received the same training i received at camp shelby and they say they know this we do eat well here i had steak and crab legs tonight for dinner it was so much i couldn t finish for desert i had chocolate cheese cake with oreo ice cream every meal is like going to the golden corral they have a salad bar sandwich sub bar a potato bar a desert bar a main line and short order line at this camp i sleep on a cot the floors are wood the bathrooms are not as nice they don t have lights but some bathroom have lighting with showers but they ask us to limit our water to 15 gal 23 december 2008 i went on my first convoy today from tq a nnaval air base near hominia to ramadi i had been there sense sunday the 21st trying to catch a helicopter flight but they would cancel because of weather and one time they had us on the flight line with our names on the manifest and then we saw them load light freight on and then they motioned to us to go back i m glad that is all over i ve forgotten it all because of my quarters are great they will get me a locker tomorrow my quarters are new and it looks like a mini trailer about 7 by 15 or 20 then the shower trailers are about 30 away the same with the latrine i ve already met my assistant master sergeant green e 8 i ll tell you more as i find out more on our way here everything looked very trashy and poor 25 december 2008 we feed between 8k and 10k civilians and troops and i m not sure how true it is but i ve been told our camp pays out to contractors kbr for food 500k each day it s around 44 per meal per soldier i had enjoyed my christmas day i went through the defac mess hall and took pictures and as i started kim the kbr manager said to me you will now get lots of requests to thought long and hard about what i could do to show dad how much we love and miss him this christmas season i am not very good with expressing myself over the phone or face to face i show my love
