ewa rodeo february 19 2023 kini aloha lāpule this weekend is the annual pana ewa stampede rodeo the official rodeo of hilo hawaii rain or shine the rodeo will go on and we have lots of rain this weekend this year the rodeo honors the founder of the pana ewa stampede rodeo uncle al cabral who passed away several years ago the rodeo lasts for two to three days after the valentines day weekend it features music food and the best paniolo cowboy ranchers on saturday the gates open at 6am and the show begins promptly at 12pm the national anthem and hawai i pono i anthem is played followed by an opening pule hoʻomaka prayer sunday begins with cowboy church where everyone comes to pray for our ʻohana community loved ones and those that we lost are remembered we pray for our future and blessing of life liberty and our country and state pule a ka haku lord s prayer when it rains the rodeo goes on in the mud the contests are fun and funny additionally it s educational and fun for the
